    Then there's the support pages to wit - I've used twice and had a response within minutes. Yes, usually the responses are concise and simple, but they are there.

    I've had Deckhands - whom I admit are not Rare employees directly - sit and chat with me about game problems and such for over an hour.

    The most obvious source for updates come from the videos. of which... there are MANY not one, MANY.

    In each of these videos they DO update us with the plans for development, patch notes, issues that arise, perspectives on upcoming issues, and so much more.

    What they aren't doing for now, with no indication this will change - I admit, would be posting in remark to forum feeds directly , interacting as players personally via other social media, or setting dates in stone until they are certain they can meet them. (Next week's WEEKLY UPDATE is meant to include the launch teaser for Hungering Deep and a patch date for it).

    Literally, every remark from the OP I've read in this thread - is wrong and a remark to incomplete information. #lookitupnexttime

    I hope these links provide you with the information you are missing.

    The informational updates, videos, podcasts, etc.....

    Are actually quite professional.

    And to the deckhands .... I'm not butt kissing here - keep up the good work, I've seen you guys operate. Your obviously handling yourselves as more than mere 'forum mods' and your dedication is promising!

    Wanting more direct responses to forum threads would be nice... But that's also quite often how things fall apart as expectations are made and promises become falsehoods.

(It wasn't always this way, this place used to be a great source of communication)

    It is beyond disrespectful.

    Community wants to sit here and preach about professionalism and respect? How about the community shows some in turn?

    This is NOT meant as a personal attack - more about an issue i’m seeing here that could actually damage the progression of the game.

    I honestly don’t think I’ve ever encountered anyone quite as ‘white knight’ as someone like you. We could tell the likes of you Rare has just burnt your house down and you’d still defend them. Are you on the payroll? What are you trying to achieve by continually putting everyone in their place?

    Someone like you talks like you’re the most important person in the world and all opinions other than yours are not valid. “You’ve had quite enough”? Why are you still here then?

    The point someone like you is continually missing is it’s not the regularity or amount Rare communicates with us, it’s WHAT they are communicating - or NOT as the case may be.

    ‘Kissing up’ (and it’s starting to seem almost for the sake of it) is slowly becoming the biggest problem on this forum for actual constructive debate and getting Rare to see some big issues with the game - and posts, like yours, are at the forefront of it and are possibly becoming detrimental to the progression of the game.

    I’m not personally here to continually bash Rare, or other users, or the mods. Or to suck up. I’m personally here, like many other “haters” because I LOVE the game! I LOVE the game! I’ve bought into the concept. I’ve defended the lack of content, the beautiful simplicity and I want to help grow the game.

    I am here because as a “game as service” Rare actually WANT our feedback. They want to hear our suggestions, our issues, our concerns. I have no doubt they ARE listening but when their videos and notes come out and so many big issues being discussed in the community are simply not there, then the overall direction of where they’re taking the game comes under scrutiny, and people get upset. Their silence, on so many issues raised, is THE big problem.

    People are only upset because, like you, they LOVE the game. Please try to see this.

They are incredibly ambicious and not only CR but the entire team who most of them come from insanely great studios and have achieve the most complex and the most visually stunning games of the last decades ... so yeah ... you dont hire talents as such to " fraud peoples " ...

    ‘White knighting’ or ‘hating’ our way around the forums is starting to become a big problem. Both are guilty and it’s dilating some good points, suggestions and issues.

    You’ve now made some good points however the entitled or privileged are not always the ones with legitimate, constructive arguments.

    I feel that Rare DOES actually have to tell us ‘a darn thing’ as you put it. That’s what a ‘game as service’ entails. We make suggestions - they tell us they’re not interested in them ;)

    Again ... it’s not the quantity of communication that’s the issue - it’s the quality.

    You’re right ... (the royal) we, are not entitled or authorised to hear and see everything that goes on - and nor would I personally want to be. Something of the thought processes behind the direction and motivations of what we’re seeing at the moment however would go a long way to easing the current unrest.

    Most people are not simply ‘throwing a fit’ and I’m sure for most people they do not see their opinions as ‘petty nonsense’. That is all you I’m afraid.

    I do however agree that a degree of understanding, being less demanding and more grateful should always be a position where people start from in posting on these forums.

    If people hadn’t have felt let down and hurt - because they love the game and are invested in it - I’m sure these fine states of mind would be more prevalent.

    But they’re not. So one has to ask, what’s the reason for that? And it’s not that everyone is a child!

    Star Citizen is a perfect example of bad management of a development, with an insane feature creep...it's still running because we are feeding them with millions.

    The weekly videos mean c**p for backers like me that can't run that game with a GTX1080, netcode problems, they say, cool, fix the basements and then you can waste dev time adding more ships to sell them to the gullible whales. Thanks.

    Star citizen could be call anything but bad management ... they actually have asked the community for features they wanted , they made us votes , they asked for our input and the procedural planets etc.. its US as a community who push for it , not everyones were in agreement but by the end everyones are happy its on the way ...

    The game couldnt have been made the way we envision it in less time than this ... they have been carefull with the money for the first years ... they had to build studios from scratch and the true developpement never came before early 2014 ... so its been about 4 years now , and considering they had less than 60 staff at that time unlike a BLizard or activision studios who start project with already 500 to 1000 employee at their disposal pre establish team and way to do stuff etc.. already build studio structure etc...

    SC had to build everything from scratch , tools , studios , team , the tech , etc...etc..etc..

    So considering ALL of this ... its very fair to say that they are way advanced into their progress considering the scope of the game and what they have realised already , for both SQ42 and SC ... so yeah

    Performance are actually very good , when you dont run the entire game with multiples peoples live ... these issue will be eventually solve but 3.1.3 is actually stable around 30 fps with some stutter that can be anoying but you can get servers where you will get around 60 fps + for a good while ...

    Performance will certainly not be a issue at some point when the polish phase will be undergoing

    SC will be one of the greatest game of all time ... and if you want to keep paying for games that are disapointement who lack of contents lack of possibility etc... then good for you

    But the reality is that SC team stick to their promise and do every feature they need to do one by one , from meaningfull mining mechanics that are not just Hold E to mine ... and meaningfull cargo transport and meaningfull combat etc..etc...

    Everything is bare bone but so as Sea of thieves right now but the difference is SC is still very much in Alpha ...

    I dont doubt Sea of thieves will be much better after the 3 big update and as a very solid foundation ... but the problem is many as seen the game at launch for what it was and very few will bother to ever come back .. thats what happen when a game is release in a uncompleat state peoples diss it and it become very hard to regain the reputation loss

    You will live close to those servers where the game runs at 30 fps, buddy. As I have said I still didn't break the limit of the single digit with any version of the persistent universe (plus constant freezes and stuttering), which means that the game is literally unplayable for me even with a perfectly capable computer.

    But whatever, it looks like you are one of those backers that still buy all the placebos and weekly Hamelin's videos, I am way beyond those happy times, sadly, we will see if they finally fix this mess or this will become the worst dissapointment of videogames story.

    In the same genre Elite Dangerous is the perfect example of a videogame built from the basement and not from the roof with stupid feature creep, dozens and dozens of ships to squeeze whales while the core foundation simply doesn't work.

    Star Citizen and SoT are in the opposite ends of the spectrum, the later lacks content but the basic mechanics are solid, the former still has not a working base, 4 years with such a budget were more than enough to get at least that.

    Lol did you really involve PUBG and destiny because PUBG still crashes and all they add is cosmetics instead of fixes and I didn’t think anyone even played destiny 2 anymore also they intended on hungering deep last Tuesday but encountered issues with pc and idk if you’ve noticed but it seems rare fixes multiple bugs every week and he’ll they even moved ammo crates and a bell. A BELL! where as any other game would be like “well that sucks for y’all but if you pay 20 dollars you can get a skin that you won’t care about in a couple weeks”

    @ur-mi-ma Ugh. PUBG. I play because my friends play but I'd rather not. You'd think they could get around to optimizing that hot mess. I played the demo Beta for Destiny 2 and immediately cancelled my preorder.

    Fortnite and GTA V beat all the other listed games and SoT by miiiiiles. But they also have seasoned development teams.

    I think with time and errors (nobody said learning was easy) SoT can bring it's self up to that level. Fingers crossed.

    Performance will certainly not be a issue at some point when the polish phase will be undergoing

    SC will be one of the greatest game of all time ... and if you want to keep paying for games that are disapointement who lack of contents lack of possibility etc... then good for you

    But the reality is that SC team stick to their promise and do every feature they need to do one by one , from meaningfull mining mechanics that are not just Hold E to mine ... and meaningfull cargo transport and meaningfull combat etc..etc...

    Everything is bare bone but so as Sea of thieves right now but the difference is SC is still very much in Alpha ...

    I dont doubt Sea of thieves will be much better after the 3 big update and as a very solid foundation ... but the problem is many as seen the game at launch for what it was and very few will bother to ever come back .. thats what happen when a game is release in a uncompleat state peoples diss it and it become very hard to regain the reputation loss

    You will live close to those servers where the game runs at 30 fps, buddy. As I have said I still didn't break the limit of the single digit with any version of the persistent universe (plus constant freezes and stuttering), which means that the game is literally unplayable for me even with a perfectly capable computer.

    But whatever, it looks like you are one of those backers that still buy all the placebos and weekly Hamelin's videos, I am way beyond those happy times, sadly, we will see if they finally fix this mess or this will become the worst dissapointment of videogames story.

    In the same genre Elite Dangerous is the perfect example of a videogame built from the basement and not from the roof with stupid feature creep, dozens and dozens of ships to squeeze whales while the core foundation simply doesn't work.

    Star Citizen and SoT are in the opposite ends of the spectrum, the later lacks content but the basic mechanics are solid, the former still has not a working base, 4 years with such a budget were more than enough to get at least that.

    Yep and i have the same problems in the PU only but before in " Archcorp or Star marine or Arena comander i have great performances with a GTX1070 and even with my old 780ti i had decent performances ... the game barely use 45% of my Intel i7-4790k lol so yeah the game isnt suposed to be in a very " playable state " in the sens you wish it to be ... Escape from tarkov " Alpha " was rough had insane stuttering some drop to even 2 fps straight up for 10 minute if you were not to close the game clients etc.. and even in betta there was and still is some stutter issue in many maps and the game scope and player count is by far smaller than SC ...

    THey need their object containers tech etc.. to go online to aliviate the performance of the PU itself ... the game will eventually run great and a very decent amount of players per mesh of instances ... Patience is a virtue ... I dont play much SC right now ... i wait for it to be in a more enjoyable state ... i play once in a while to see the potential ..

    I own many ships and a constelation i have multicrew some ships and while still rough around the edge this game as the most potential ever ... and while i am waiting i play others games like Sea of thieves , Destiny 2 etc.. wich are by far more optimised but by far smaller scales and wont have as much contents and freeroam possibility as SC ever ... so i am glad we have a developpers who arent own by big corporate who took the mean and the capacity to furfill this type of game ... they do things rights to furfill promises unlike other devs who make use " dream about " things that never end up been developped ... while SC team actively work and deliver part of procedural planets , procedural tech to create spaces stations , missions , Ai behavior , etc.. work actively on cargo hauling , mining , combat , FPS combat , Multicrew combat , capital ships combat ... boarding , Single player story driven episodic campaign and so on and on ... wich all environement seen in the SQ42 will be transfert into the PU with new advantures possible in these and nothing go to waste ... so yeah

    When the game will be in polish phase and will have Nvidia drivers support and Will use 90%+ of my CPU and 100% of the GPU trust me it will run great at some point not just in alpha 3.1 or 3.2

    Sea of thieves is far less ambitious that a game like SC.
    SC benefits of a huge community.
    The two games are totally funded and developped differently.

    One thing is sure though: none of us had a clear idea of what would Sea of Thieves be once released.. and let's face it, it was kind of disppointing.

    Rare are indeed making efforts to update their content and try to keep players informed but it's still not fully transparent. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate their efforts and I like to be surprised but the roadmap feels like they are going to add 2 or 3 new game modes, 2-3 new ennemies, 1 new ship and some cosmestics.

    Right now the game needs far more than this. I would skip new game modes and generic weekly events and let the devs work on that living world we were promised to travel.

And ya gta5 is hard to beat but they’ve been out for years so it can’t really be compared to yet while they’re in repair phase but it burns me to see people complaining about content and I’m just like jeez if that’s your only complaint then sit down because they are more focused on making it playable atm and they’re already releasing a dlc which takes most games at least 2-3 months

I just wished they comunicated better. like a date for a release in may is like mission impossible. all updates feel like they have been there from the get go. then they were taken away. love the update videos but they just keep sales pitching new stuff that are broken as soon as released. I think microsoft should take over if rare cant deliver on this great concept. love the game hate randoms that join. more so when my friends lagged out and you get a rubber bander that you cant report easy. I sttarted this gae with a group of friends im the only one left. and there is only so much you can take from backwards american hating on me because im gay its 2018 w*f. and you cant kickem. and asking for a private crew option should have been there have you seen their country its practically circus of hate.

    so that private game should have been there. when got people telling god hates you global warming is not a fact. why do i have to deal with them.

    I mean sometimes its ghost town on your server do quests and then what. a game that has no level gears has to atleast have options. what else is there. there is literrally nothing to do but quest and the occational pvp. grind to legendary for new content nothing new but an outfit and a same quest with zombie appocalipse and not great loot in rewards tier wise.

    i basically feel llike hungering deep is gonna be three vendor and that is it. All this hype is nothing more then a build up to dissapointment. they can keep my money. i had fun. I will come back but in a year or more because at the moment I think of it as well polished beta. I'll wait till they make changes internally and get stuff done. but this isnt a game there is shooter games with more content then this.

    Ahoy mate, just want to jump in here and add that throughout the whole development cycle, Rare released videos, blogs, posts, website updates very regularly as the Sea of Thieves and Rare youtube channels illustrate. On release we also saw a good few video updates as well as plenty of twitter posts.

    The difficulty is, that a great deal of this communication is over multiple locations and not always in one place, which might lead to the impression that not much is being released.

    So isn't that a problem that should be fixed? It doesn't require devs to do that. Different job role.
