Dear Sea of Thieves Development Team,
First of all, thank you for creating such a unique and memorable experience. These suggestions come from a place of genuine appreciation and passion for the game, with the hope of contributing to its continued growth.
Tavern (Social Space)
The tavern has great potential to become a true social hub within each server. Expanding its functionality could significantly enhance player interaction.
- Introduce mini-games such as cards, board games, or pirate-themed challenges.
- Allow players to socialize and interact more organically within the same server.
- Expand the bartenderâs shop with a variety of drinks, potentially including light gameplay effects that enhance experience without affecting skill balance.
Crew & Server Experience
Providing players with the ability to invite multiple friends into the same server, each with their own ships, would greatly improve accessibility and enjoyment.
- This would reduce the need to server-hop.
- It could be tested within Safer Seas without impacting High Seas progression.
- This approach would especially appeal to PvE-focused players and help bring back part of the player base.
Resources & Realism
Gathering resources is enjoyable, but adding logical alternatives could improve immersion.
- Allow players to gather wood directly from trees on larger islands using existing interaction mechanics.
- Give clearer purpose and organization to ship vendors, such as making cannonball acquisition more intuitive.
- Introduce region-based resources to encourage exploration.
Creativity & Customization
Customization is a key area with strong potential for innovation.
- Instead of selling multiple color variations of the same outfit, allow players to purchase base sets and apply dyes.
- Introduce a paint system for clothing, weapons, and ships (consumable or reusable).
- Expand pirate customization by allowing more detailed character creation.
- This would greatly enhance player identity and creativity.
- Country flags for the crow nest.
Environmental Gameplay (Outfits & Regions)
Adding light environmental effects tied to clothing could deepen immersion.
- Outfits designed for volcanic regions could reduce environmental penalties.
- Future regions (such as icy areas) could introduce new challenges and require preparation.
- Effects should remain balanced and not impact competitive gameplay.
Missions & Factions
While current missions offer variety, they can feel repetitive over time.
- Introduce multiple mission paths per faction.
- Add decision-based missions with branching outcomes.
- Increase dynamic world events to create more varied session experiences.
Creatures & World Events
Unexpected encounters are one of the gameâs strongest elements.
- Introduce persistent sea creatures (not only event-based).
- Add large-scale threats that players can track or hunt.
- Allow ships to display trophies representing victories over major creatures, showcasing player achievements.
World Utilization
Some areas feel underutilized after their initial purpose.
- Locations such as Maiden Voyage and Shores of Gold could be repurposed for new events or high-risk, high-reward activities.
- This would maximize the value of existing content.
The world of Sea of Thieves is already rich and engaging, but these ideas aim to fill in remaining gaps and elevate the overall experience. Every session is unique, and that unpredictability is what makes the game special.
These suggestions come from a place of respect and excitement for what the game can continue to become. I look forward to seeing how Sea of Thieves evolves in future seasons.
Be More Pirate!
Sincerely,
A passionate pirate
