Game Crashing When Surfacing for Hourglass

  • Last night a crew of us hopped on a galleon to try out the new hourglass updates. We dove like normal, stayed in the underwater tunnel for a fairly long time (odd on a night with an update specifically for hourglass). Finally, we get the black screen like we have been matched, but my black screen with spinning green wheel has the wheel stop spinning and then the game completely closes and I end up at my Windows desktop. My crewmates resurface at an outpost. I log back in, rejoin the session, and we try again. Same results. This happened every time, however, what made the last one interesting, was that the VERY instant that my game disconnected/closed, another ship matched with my crewmates who were parked at Morrow's Peak. Like the VERY instant. So clearly something about me being there was preventing them from connecting.

I don't think it's my internet (it seems fast enough and stable at 1.5Gbps down/50Mbps up) nor do I think it's my PC (RTX 3090 and Ryzen 9 5900). Have run the game (generally) without hiccups for several years now. Not sure what the issue could be but it seems I can't dive to hourglass battles. This is very disappointing given that this season is essentially only diving to hourglass battles.

I am hoping someone can offer any suggestions that might fix this as I do enjoy the game but the frustration dial was set to 11 last night. Thanks in advance for any help.
