So I know that this is an old topic and I’ve asked this question before but since the plans for the game change and the game itself keeps changing I figured I would ask again. My question is whether or not the Original wailing barnacle ship cosmetics are going to return? I remember that in one of the really old youtube updates(Back in year one) Joe Neat mentioned that limited time items would be returning in their original form at some point. The wailing barnacle set was released over a large period of time which kinda sucks for people that want to complete the original set. I have all the clothing parts, weapons except the ship parts. I know that different variants of certain cosmetics have been released, but I dont think that a different variant for this set would satisfy people like me who have half of the original set. One other problem is that parts of this set were limited and parts of it are still available. Im not against limited time items only if the whole set was time limited. So is there any chance of the OG ship parts returning (in the emporium or some other way)or even the whole set in general. I’ve played since day one and I got most of the year one cosmetics but this one has been bugging me for a while, because I forgot to spend my doubloons that I had during the update which had the Wailing barnacle ship parts. And that makes me feel even worse because I got the doubloons but forgot to buy the items from duke. I think the update was shrouded spoils. I know that some items from the ashen shores and cursed sails have made a return.

Personally I don't care if time limited items come back but I think time limited should be replaced with reoccurring seasonal or something because currently it's too much of a drama pickle with some stuff coming back and some stuff not and everyone getting huffy about it
Pull a Disney and vault it up from time to time to build up anticipation but still let people have a shot at it from time to time
The most I believe Rare should do is similar to how they handed it this year, with the week to do X challenge to get one piece of the time-limited gear. For example, the Forsaken Ashes Cutlass after completing the challenge given. While not a year one player, (and definitely wishing I had some of them,) I respect the more seasoned pirates in their ambition to keep something that sets them apart from newer swabbies. Repeating the format from Year 2 anniversary will allow someone to posses some part of SoT’s past without making the Day 1 people as resentful of those who got the items easily.

It only means that you were playing during that time. I have more respect for players who are athena 10 or above, because they actually accomplished something ingame. And what difference would make for the salty so called “veterans” if newer players got those cosmetics. I personally would not care. I'm guessing you don't know what Time Limited means...
Imagine them actually using the Black Market for its intended purpose...
The absurd amount of unreleased cosmetics we've seen in trailers, on npcs, and elsewhere (wink wink) suggests that, more likely than not, there are multiple color variants of every item already in the game that aren't being released for whatever reason

Want to know why? It's because there is still no Wailing Barnacle banjo. The set isn't complete!

As long as I have the WB set, and know that I got it the OG way and have had it longer than most, I don't really care if someone else gets the set now.
the best thing would be a sail editor ,but will never happen cause ancient coins.would be so cool having a browser where you can equip sails other people created. topic: i dont care its just a game and im sure no one cares what sails other people rockin^^, i try to get every unlockable cosmetic but if i dont get it ,its no drama. i think sot need something new not just raids and runs ,maybe crafting more interacting with the world,more fun stuff

I was just testing on Insider and realized this - no Wailing Barnacle instruments at all! My how my head escapes me these days... 🙄

Btw you needed to be somewhat good or extremely stubborn to get the Forsaken Shores Cosmetics back then in the original, not nerfed Devils Roar.
SoT is a casual game with horizontal progression.
The exclusivity of old Sets is like in every GAAS game just Business as usual.
Nobody will also get the rewards of the 1st or the 2nd Festival if the Damned or the old Reaper Livery and the different sails of it.
Nobody will ever get Black Dog Cloth etc...If they re release it, there is no exclusivity anymore.
I'm not pro any exclusivity, but i'm pro beeing consequent.
So if rare started it this way, they should be consequent and stick to it, but not open another can of worms.What about Arena? Do the cosmetics nit reflect your are good?
I dont play Arena and completely boykott it, so no clue.It is a shame OP did not acquire these items when first released.
They were among the first Bilge Rat offerings and proved very popular.
I remember everyone flexing the ship livery that month.The jacket, hat, and blunderbuss are among my favorite items in the game after all this time, truly great swag from Rare.
The lesser parts later released, like the belt, gloves and boots, were just icing on the cake.I can understand the need for this set and why OP is envious.
But it was time limited from the start for a reason.
