Does anypirate know how long we'll still be able to complete a mercenary's rum runner voyage and acquire the mercenary cosmetics?

RE: Sea of Thieves Physial World Map ~ Printed + Aged
@closinghare208 yea these are really cool. getting the image printed is the easy part, its the aging process that may stump some people.
I really think it shouldn't, because it was easier than I had expected.
My only advices: Don't use too much liquid for the tea/coffee. A small cup of strong black tea/coffee should be enough. Then it won't get messy at all. Tea makes the paper kinda sepia brown, coffee rather dark brown and turmeric adds a yellow effect. You could also add beetroot for a blood effect or completely improvise.
Also the burning part at the end was way too much fun. Btw., I'm not responsible for anyone accidentally setting their ship on fire while trying to slightly singe the edges of a map.
Sea of Thieves Physial World Map ~ Printed + Aged
I slightly edited a map without background made by the reddit user u/Crowlee117.
Original post with Hi-Res Download: https://www.reddit.com/r/Seaofthieves/comments/9k2pkk/i_made_a_thing_sot_forsaken_shores_world_map/
Printed in A2-size on two paper sheets (because I only have an A3 inkjet printer)
Poured black tea and some coffee with a sprinkle of turmeric on it
Removed all liquids from the paper, not without spilling it all over my kitchen
Found out that my baking tray is too small for A3 size but whatever
Baked it in the oven at 160° C for about 5-10 minutes (keep an eye on it)
Finally burned the edges with a candle for true pirateness so that the ashes almost reach Ashen Reaches
How the hell did my smoke detector not go off?
Never get lost in the seas again.
RE: Rare, please implement a character editor of some type.
I wholeheartedly agree.
Even though this seems to be the mainstream opinion and I usually tend to disagree with mainstream opinions regarding Sea of Thieves – especially if they sound like: 'DIS GAME IS UNFINISH!!!' and 'WHERS THA CONTEEENT!!!!!' – This time it's different.
My personal experience was this:
I started Sea of Thieves together with a friend and I did not know anything about how it works apart from having seen some fun videos on YouTube of streamers selling chickens and fighting sharks. I did not want to spend too long in the Infinite Pirate Generator, because I was curious to actually start playing and talking to my friend over headset. So I settled for the least ugly one.
As it turned out, our first session was so much fun, it's ridiculous. We went to a remote island, dug up treasures, caught a snake, returned to the ship in a rowboat only to see it sinking right before our eyes, because we probably had overlooked some holes. With a new ship, we were joined by a friendly pirate legend who offered us an alliance if we helped him to kill some pink megalodon, which we did, along with a skeleton ship and afterwards we all got drunk, played music in the tavern and puked on one another. I finished my first session with a decent amount of gold and some good commendations.
At that point and even in the next sessions I did not know that I had to delete my pirate along with all my gold and progress if I wanted to create a new one. I don't like the look of my pirate anymore but I also don't want to lose all of my hard earned progress.
TL;DR: If I would've known that there is only one character per account and it's permanent, I would've spent more time in the IPG to find one I'm fine with.
I don't think I'd need more customization options. I'd be happy if I could create one new pirate and keep my progress - even if it's only allowed every 3 months or once per account.
RE: Ahoy! My Name Is... [Insert Pirate Name/Picture]
Ahoy! My Name Is Captain Kaiku Aika.
I've come to the Sea of Thieves for adventure.
Me interests consist of sailing casually, digging up treasure and playing shanties on the hurdy-gurdy to a cobra.
As I am rather indecisive, my look may vary drastically.
My recent outftits:
RE: Will Atlas inspire SOT?
As a pirate I'm not at all opposed to stealing, but Sea of Thieves must've been a major inspiration for the developers of Atlas. Bucketing water, digging for treasures, the way the map is held in the trailer and especially how that mermaid looks and sounds is 100% SoT.
Competition is good of course. But I'm quite certain that Atlas won't own up to its promises – which is actually another VERY piratey thing to do – and will eventually lead more players to SoT.
RE: Patch Notes Discussion - 1.4.1
@muse986 So I started the Gilded Gold Hoarders Voyage wasnt able to complete any part of the voyage and exited out of the game. Does that mean I've missed out on my opportunity to do this event?
Just wanting to point this problem out again.
I started a gilded voyage with two friends and we are still new to this game. Of course we did not complete the voyage in one session. We didn't even know we had to. Duke only tells you that you can only pick one voyage. I'm a bit disappointed that the game never tells you that you can not log out out before the voyage is completed... I never liked games that kind of force you to play for many hours at a time instead of giving you the liberty to log out when you need to sleep. It didn't think of Sea of Thieves as that kind of game...
RE: Fishing, Crabbing, Digging Clams, and Harpoon Monster Hunting
@x-crowheart-x That's a good idea! It would be a nice experience to stand on the crow's nest, spot a whale in the distance and yell to one's crew: 'THAR SHE BLOOOOWS!!'
One (inappropriately serious) point about animal cruelty, though: There are sharks and megalodons in this game that we can hunt. One of the most cruel things that people have ever done to animals is to depict sharks as aggressive, evil and dangerous monsters. Sharks as predators are vital to our ecosystem but yet we (humans) kill about hundred millions of them in a year while less than 10 people die due to shark attacks worldwide.
This is partly because people just don't care for sharks as much as they do for whales.
I know that Sea of Thieves is a cartoonish and unrealistic game and I love it for that. It's just good to be aware of how subjective the term 'animal cruelty' is when it comes to killing a whale (or dolphin) vs killing a shark.
