    A few thoughts/ideas for pets.

Have them ring the bell when you are heading for a rock or skelly ship
Send them to turn out all the ships lanterns (The OG lantern color hurts my eyes)
Send them to raise the alliance flag or join an alliance

Also this I love the idea of a finger gun fire emote and play dead pet animation!

    Just a few thoughts.

If the pets did all that, Rare would have to give everyone a basic generic pet. Your idea is pay to play

  • @takuboto While I have been pretty critical of this update in other parts of the forum, I will say you guys delivered a good bit of changes with this update so, well done.

I'm not really a fan of the reapers voyages but I'm glad to see aggressive skeleton ships back in, pets introduced to the game, the pirate emporium (even though I don't agree with the business model 100%), the reconnect feature (thank you!), and the sea dogs par core (idk how to spell that) route.

All in all a nice update even if there are parts I'm not so crazy about.

  • The seapost runs are a quick way to earn doubloons. They don't leave any time for pitstops, like diving a shipwreck along the way. But I suppose that's the point. More than a Merchants Alliance contract, there is a sense of urgency. Even failing the delivery times, it's a reliable way to earn doubloons beyond more difficult commendations.

The main problem now is that all jobs other than seapost-to-seapost transfers direct the player to Shipwreck Bay. That obviously limits replay value because one feels much like another. It concentrates griefers at one spot. And it's a burden if a player receives the job in another sea, requiring a long trek before the real journey begins. Gameplay in Sea of Thieves is always time-intensive, so additional requirements like that can be prohibitive.

I was also confused when multiple crates bound for the same seapost were expected at different times. That's a pointless complication because players must already strategize the order by which they will sail to different seaposts to make different deliveries in one job.

Apart from the new contracts, many thanks from a solo sailor for the ability to resume progress if the game crashes!

And unlike many others, I'm completely comfortable with the well designed microtransactions. Adding the new skeleton type for a chance at MT money is generous and appreciated.

  • I was doing the Seapost to Seapost voyages last night, and suddenly got Hopscotchbeard errors on all of my crates, telling me good luck because all of the addresses have fallen off lol. And it didn't correct itself either. So I guessed on a few but had no idea on a few others and wound up leaving them to float in the Sea as I sailed away. 😥

  • Personally think Pets at around £5 are way too expensive.

I could buy a small game for that price.

I would recommend pets at maybe around £1-2 and cosmetics maybe 50p - £1 each. I feel the price is high as Rare simply doesn't have enough items for people to purchase yet thus is inflating them at the expense of the players pockets.

Come on Rare. At £5 I would want an entire ship set with pet.

  • New update brings some more good content, with some added story from Stitcher Jim & who I assume is Wanda. However, the Ancient skeletons seem to be much harder to find than I thought, with me and several of my friends spending many hours looking for it with no avail.

    Hi !
Do you know if commendations about selling robbed crates are really permanent ?
I ask this because Duke voyages aren't, so where can we find those particular crates after the next update ?
    Thanks you all, have fun

The voyages are time limited. So that means the accommodation are temporarily.

Only half of the commendations are marked as time limited. Delivering 5 to each main seapost, delivering 50 total, delivering a stolen crate to each main seapost and delivering 10 stolen crates are not marked as time limited.

I would also like some clarification on this because getting the stolen commendations seems to be tough since no one is doing these voyages any more.

  • Glitched Rowboat
One time my ship sank, and then I used the mermaid to teleport back to my ship. Soon after I arrived at my new ship, I migrated servers. On the new server was a rowboat that couldn't be sat in or rowed. The planks in the rowboat that the player is supposed to sit on were in a weird position as well.

  • This patch has been one of the best patches you submitted so far. It has brought back people to Adventure and lots of loot to gain from it. It brought back the thrill of being a pirate on the seven seas. The thrill of digging and trying to make it out with your loot before someone showed up to steal it. On the other side it give us the thrill of being a pirate, laying in wait to steal the loot from others. Just the same as stealing the loot from someone just after they complete a Skull Fort. Which most call greifing, but those who say this don't realize this game was built with the assumption of being a pirate the the thrill that comes with it. It's not meant to be a completely PVE game in Adventure. Before this people found that it was more worth their time to do Tall Tails or Fish off the Sea Post. Neither of which gives you the thrill of being a pirate. ( No Loot to collect afterwards)

Well I should say it was my favorite patch until you made a hot fix to take the Late chest from 1500 to 250 gold each. In doing this people have stopped doing the Smuggler's Fortune and those who do complete it are only completing it for the Commendations usually leaving the chest in the ground and taking only the ones they need. People don't even find it fun to Steal chest from others anymore, they just go to the island and dig up the ones people have left in order to get the credit for Stole Chest.

The Loot from a Skull Fort is usually worth 30k to 40k for 20 to 25 minutes worth of work. Completing a Legendary Smugglers Fortune takes approximately 5 minutes which includes the time to take the chest back to the ship. If they are all late that equals to 2500 gold for 10 chest. Times that by 12 (120 chest) it only gives you a total of 30k worth of gold and equals to 1 hours worth of work. That doesn't include the time it takes to deliver them to all 4 sea post.

Please Bring the fun back to Adventure. Please increase the gold per chest back to 1000k to 1500k. Bring the thrill of being a pirate back to Adventure at least for the last 2 -3 weeks that is left of smugglers fortune.

I wish I could find these people :( No one around Shipwreck Bay, no half-dug chests on the island whenever I check.

    0 stolen chests.

  • This isn’t necessarily feedback but I didn’t know where to post it so I’m doing it here. I just wanted to give a shoutout to @Musicmee . I always seem them responding to people including myself and they’re just a all around helpful person. I also love how they start every reply with “Ahoy matey!”

  • Any way we can get an option to turn off pet nameplates, either as a separate option or just roll it into the "Turn off Crew Nameplates" option? Don't feel like I need to see my pet's name or other pet names all the time. (Non-crew pet names could also be rolled into the "Turn off Non-Crew Nameplates" option, too)

  • The server I'm on just scuttled/despawned my ship.
Was doing a seapost to seapost voyage in the devils roar.
Mermaid never showed, I killed myself to get back to ship but only ened up at picaroon palms, minus a ship or mermaid.

I got marooned...By the game itself. What!?... Haha.

Related to the new update I don't know, but it's a new bug to me.

  • @sir-beardless did you get disconnected and rejoin the session? It's possible there is a bug with this feature that causes the server to think you haven't reconnected and despawns your ship after the 10 minute grace period.

  • @d3adst1ck I was thinking that but I didn't get disconnected, I stayed for around 15 minutes I recon and no mermaid or ship reappeared.
    So eventually I quit.

I should have quit and tried rejoining straight away to see it that feature worked. Oh well.

  • Same bug that several people, I post here in addition to the bug report because it breaks the game :( avoid long voyage for the moment!

I sailed between the North star seapost and shipwerk bay and I stopped with the anchor to collect floating barrels, back on the boat it was scuttled alone. My Athena voyage (I only had 2 steps left ...!) Disappeared from the wheel of quests, I rowed with a boat to Dagger Tooth to sell what I had left but nothing was accounted for when I sold to different merchants. Finally no siren has ever appeared.

Would add that I never had a connection problem (1 Gbit/s in a big city) previously in the game and I was in the server for about 1h30

  • I have 0 stolen rag and bone crates so far and have tried for a week to steal any from anyone legitimately with absolutely 0 success.

So, here's my plan. I'm going to make an alliance with another ship that still needs them stolen too. Together, we will each start a legendary voyage from Duke and dig up our 10 from Shipwreck Bay one after another. Then we simply trade crates, and deliver them to their respective sea posts.

  • @galactic-geek the nerf from 1500g to 250g for late chests really reduced the volume of people still doing these. If you see me on the seas I'll help you get 10

  • @galactic-geek I've been having the same problem, and will probably attempt the same solution.

I like the idea of those commendations, I really do. My failure at them was 3-fold:

    1. I just wasn't paying attention to the commendations and didn't notice those right away
    2. I'm typically playing on a sloop, oftentimes solo
    3. The volume of people doing those quests really dropped quickly

I do hope that future monthly content will continue with the idea of rewards for stealing treasure though.

  • @partyinsanjuan Well, the stealing commendations weren't time-limited, so that must mean rag and bone crates aren't going anywhere.

  • While doing a Legendary Shipwreck Bay rags run I got disconnected due to a game crash. I wasn't offered to reconnect to previous session. UGH!!!!!!

Myself and another crew were going to steal each other's cargo.

  • @virtuous-opha I was sailing to an island to dig up an Athena chest and my internet dropped for about a minute. Got returned to the title menu with no option to re-join, pretty annoying.

  • Could there possibly be a change to the commendations Duke sells ? Like you can buy one per faction per week instead of per month?

  • @galactic-geek Good luck with that. I attempted that, and due to a sudden disconnect from the game I wasn't offered the chance to reconnect my session. The external hard drive got disconnected from the console. :(

  • I am very disappointed in the loot recently, there is no reason 2 legends on a sloop should get less than ashen captains and ashen villainous on a devils roar athena. Most of it is ashen hatefull and ashen marauders i mean are d.r. athena missions hard enough without nerfing the loot? This is a joke, 10k or so. Not to mension all the glitches added with peets update, had 20k of loot dissapear in the water when i was right next to it and had just touched it. Then the ashen chest of legends disappeared right off our sloop, phased through the ship no doubt. If im going to spend hrs on a d.r. athena, make it Worth my time again...

  • @takuboto It'd be really neat if we could send something like a letter-carrying bird to alliance members, with a delay so it is balanced (something like 5 minutes or so) to prevent ganging up, but allowing a form of communication (like hey, don't log off, we're about to turn in an athena chest)

  • Came back to the game to see the new content. Spent all night getting everything we need. Got to the fort of the damned only to have another boat come in a destroy our boat while trying to do the fort. Good to see nothing has changed an entire night wasted. Won’t be playing again till we get a pve option so we can actually see some content.

  • Combat has GOT TO CHANGE I've never seen one game have so many updates to combat and have it still be absolute garbage. It's needs a 100% overhaul. Forget adding next month's event if there isn't a combat update. I'm astounded how bad sword combat is in a PIRATE game. Come on Rare! You're better than this.

  • The musical instruments are glitchy i havent played in a long time, so dont know it its relevant to this update. Also I dont know where to report that bug to the dev team.

Microtransactions are ok if you make it for a very hard and challenging way to get the same item and also i value that its not a casino or pay to win THANK YOU. But honestly most people want to feel like theres more to it than just pay money and get it, maybe you should make normal quests more rewarding or add new regular stuff apart from microtransactions. The events are cool but i think the basegame could still be improved, ive been playing on an off for more than a year and still cant get to pirate legend as a casual player and dont know if i really want to, seems like an eternal grind and you dont get a lot out of it, maybe make it more worth the time with a free pet that has a special ability so that its not just cosmetic and also its exclusive to it and cant be bought, or maybe make it so when you die and your boat sink you get a second change with an undead boat for 5 minutes to get revenge or some ingame mechanic that makes it all worth, and maybe you can improve endgame as well as add more stuff for microtransactions so that people can either grind for months to get it or just buy it but the one you buy has to be just cosmetic and the one you grind has to be functional. Also you could sell xp boosts and give one out after 5 days of logging in or rewards for certain time logged in like premium currency, sometimes grinding becomes very boring.
