Trawls, please, or decreasement of swimming loot

  • I want to have a trawl net to collect all the excess, countless, manifold and boring stuff that swims in the water on the way to do really predatory pirate acting, like robbing a fort, without having the silly feeling that I would have been more effective if I had continued to drive boringly back and forth on the water. You know what I mean?

Otherwise, I would be pleased it the loot and stuff in the waters would be decreased, drastically.

  • The amount of loot everywhere is something that breaks my immersion a little bit.
    Way too much loot.
But anyway the loot for Events, thinking of the one with the tons of captains chests is anyway something i do not like that much.
It would be better loot were more specialy more rare, but also more worthy.

  • Loot? Do you mean those meaningless things you don't need that you gather anyway just because they are there and look fancy? Only to regret every moment of it on your deathbed realizing you've wasted all your time on things that meant nothing to you?!
If you have all the achievements, why complain? There's nothing to gain from reducing the abundance of loot.
If you don't have all the achievements, why complain? It's easier now than ever to accomplish them.

I think we can open up about the real elephant in the room issue here... people like to have an element of accomplishment/pride in their life and due to the ways the game have been tailored over the time more towards the general public than those hardcore no-lifes the accomplishments and titles are losing their meaning!

Titles, speaking in general, are supposed to indicate your level of skill and responsibility in a particular area of expertise (irl). But in SOT everybody can be a 'heart surgeon' without even knowing where or what the heart is... it's disheartening.

Almost every title can be obtained by average Joes, it would be beautiful if we had titles that only hardcore no-lifes could get to set ourselves apart from the general crowd... like deliver 1mil merch for 'Merchant Hero' title or whatever. I love merchant btw, I'm that weird.

  • @bumbumbac

I dont think wie need to support some hardcores addiction and search for a meaning for exagerating playing games.

    @Goedecke-Michel
To me this is immersion breaking like hell.
I am a pirate right? So i would want to get all i can and everything is worth to take it with me, because i'm a pirate and like a magpie i should and get attracted by everything that blinks and is worth a penny.
Someone who says i dont need that foul skull or i dont want to bother about this Seafarer Chest is somehow not a pirate anymore but a moneybag. (german: Pfeffersack, a sack full of peppercorn).

  • @goedecke-michel I'm confused. Isn't this what the rowboat is for?

So am I. These days, I hesitate to start SoT. Often enough, I start another game or do the kitchen. Imagine, it is clean as never had ben before. I even walk the dog, who tries to hide, he doesn't want to walk that often.

  • @goedecke-michel so you eant them to remove the loot because you would rather be doing other things, but don't have the self control not to stop to pick it up?

Yea, just like nobody needs to climb mt. Everest, go to the space or sail around the world non-stop, solo and without assistance and STILL people do it because they LONG TO do it... and you say we don't need to support these acts of humans transcending their limits and becoming greater than they were because.... exactly why are you opposed to the idea of HEROES?

  • Agreed! It is way to easy to get loot atm. Would be perfectly happy if they reduced all random loot spawns by 50% (or more).

  • @william-flint No, I try to not collect them and stay focused and then, while I'm doing forts for example, I think, what if collecting would be more lucrative?
    🤔 😱🤣

  • @xcalypt0x The subject is a little twisted, it's about the reduction of free loot. All this litter in the seas...

  • @bumbumbac
Because i believe that all the striving of humans has made many things much worse and the benefits were shortminded and in the long run punishing.
Natural Tribes or the american Natives for example dont plunder nature, nor are they greedy and selfish and need to become special, but adapt to nature, take what it needs, respect that and dont exagerate.
Now see the rest of societies, especially western ones.
We do further and we do destroy ourselves and the environment all the time.
To think you need to be better, more efficient and what not is a hybris and selfishness most humans suffer from.
I wont exclude myself to some degree.
    But thats wrong imho.
The better human is the human who is humble, altruistic, self controlled and whatnot.
The real heroes arent the ones who killed the dragon or build that skyscraper or beat this record again and again.
The real heroes are those who deal with everydays life, are humble, help others, care for the environment and dont exagerate at anything. They need not Relief their self-esteem with extraordinary performances.
There were and are also some people who do that not only on the cost of others or natural environmemt, but whole societies.
Sam was the real Hero in Lord of the Ring to me for example.
Maybe read Zhuangzi, i like his aproach a lot.

    Edit:
I also think this only evokes jealousy and pride or even supports addiction. Nothing of this should be related to playing a game!

You wrote your reply on a computer... think about it... a computer... and let that sink.

If nobody cared to be better you would not be typing on a keyboard, watching the screen, communicating with any of us for we'd all be living in caves still.

  • @bumbumbac
Would be cool, i do this only because i distract myself and because of boredom.
Every year i do a trip in nature.
If i could i would live that way without a mobile, computer, car etc.
I did that also when it was -20°C so not just a Summer Camper.
I am happier living this way, but i cannot live this way.
Society and many other things force me to partake in the modern world, they wont let me hunt my foot they wont let me cultivate Land, they wont let me be free and for myself.

I do all that to distract myself while i think that all this modern stuff is unneccessary and sometimes even destroying everything we have lost connection to. Nature.
I also said i wont exclude myself, so you need not come with think of it, while you are using a mobile or computer.
Society forced me to do many things i dislike by heart.
The way my daughter got teached and rated in school btw.
I hate it, there are much better ways to teach children something.
And nobody should be rated this way by others. It's hurting someones dignity.
And no my daughter isnt bad at school, the opposite is the case.
This discussion is offtopic and to personal.
My thoughts and lifes philosophy is nothing for you. Respect that and go on doing whatever you think you want or need to do.
    Good winds to you
    ~Bill

  • Good grief! There are a few here need to take a break from the game.

It’s becoming addictive and you know what they say - “when the fun stops - stop”.

  • @bugaboo-bill Well, you do it to distract yourself I do it to enjoy myself.

I also recognize civilization and its technology isn't a requirement for survival but they're quite helpful. And if I should choose between nature and civilization I would always choose both, I want to know it all.

Bon voyage to you as well =)

It’s becoming addictive and you know what they say - “when the fun stops - stop”.

1st note: Are you aware of the fact that people develop addictions because the altered state of being is usually more fun than their normal one and they want more of it not less. lol

2nd note: isn't it so that to realize many of our big dreams one has to get real serious, sometimes even insane? And isn't turning one's dreams into reality one of the greatest fun activities to have in this world?

3rd note: on what grounds would you even base your argument against the free will of an individual... who's to deny another being their right to live as they will... if people wish to play 24/7 I'd wish them to have a good time.

Closing note: Just swap the point of view and voila, 'addiction' becomes 'devotion' ...a trait commonly held in high regard. It's the same force, but we see it as addiction when it destroys one's spirit and as devotion when it elevates it. It translates as 'someone's really into something' and that ain't neither good nor bad by itself.

  • @bumbumbac

That’ll make the thousands devoted to heroin feel much better about themselves.

I’m afraid I found your post just weird man.
