As well as washed up goodies and perhaps instead of lost chests appearing unhidden on islands, could we have some random X's appearing deeper on the islands? The X's would hide openable style chests and could contain anything from a fort skull to old boots.
It would give people a reason to explore deeper into each island rather than just giving the shoreline a quick once over. Perhaps the loot from digging up an X could be greater as the pirate who hid, it deemed it valuable enough to hide.

I have no idea what you are asking for. There are random bottle quests with an X marks the spot and gold hoarders missions with the same type of maps.

There are random washed up treasures and mermaid gems that appear on the islands. You can see them from the sea.

We already have optional bottle quests that give you the "X" on maps to discover outside of your regular voyages. It doesn't make sense to have that for loot that has randomly washed ashore or been lost.

We are referring to the randomly generated loot that spawn on islands: mermaid gems, crates, trinkets, so on so forth. It would add a reason to stop at islands that aren’t on your voyage. I never stop on an island that I don’t need to, but the chance of more loot will always make me stop

I wasn't sure if you had intended on that already. The only reason I say this is so it is balanced. I think 1 out of 2 islands I visit have a mermaid of some sort nearby. maybe 1 out of 5 as it could contain a fort skull or some other trinket or something that is worth a whole a lot. I hope I made some sense here!
