Poll: Adventure mode PvP

  • I read a lot of too much PvP in Adventure mode, get attacked every session and sunk all the time i try to do something, but also not much less of: it's too calm, barely any ships on the horizon, and this also from players who arent KoS Pirates, but want the threat of another sail on the horizon and miss them too often.
And some, like me think it's all fine, my experiences are more or less balanced regarding PvPvE.
Some day i see less ships and it's overall calm, btw. it doesnt happen to me for a long time to see no ships at all.
Most imho are passive solo sloopers, going out of the way of each other.
Sometimes you get attacked, especially at Forts and sometimes you think you need to make the way free and have to sink this ship because you want to hand in loot and they dont move for ages or you need to go to this island, because your chest is waiting for you.

    So what do you think?

A: To much PvP, i get constantly attacked, killed and get sunk.

B: Too calm, i want more ships per server, barely anyone to see on the Sea of Thieves

C: Balancing is fine. Some days are calm others are unruly and the overall experienced regarding PvPvE feels balanced.

    My vote is C!

  • Going for C aswell.

We have nights were we see 1 or 2 sloops far far away and we have nights were we are constantly fighting annoying brigs that just keep comming back over and over and still think they can win.....

  • @bugaboo-bill definitly C
    Perfect balanced

  • I'm going with C. There's a great balance of people engaging, pirates taking potshots at you to see what's up, pirates who are passive and people who are curious and social the Sea of Thieves is still a diverse place with many different pirates and different playstyles.

When I ever solo (and I avoid PvP when I solo) I rarely get attacked, I'm in the assumption that different regions have different hostility levels (maybe Americans are really agressive and shoot on site while North-Western Europeans like to drink tea and discuss the finer points of life) so other people's opinions and observations might differ because of that. I'm not saying people choosing A are wrong but I definately don't Experience anything near option A.

  • "C"
Sailed 5 hours with randoms during the day yesterday and only had to sink one sloop while aligning with two other ships.
Sailed 3 hours with my flagship crew (@Murphy576 , @Wheelhause) last night and sunk 2 galleons, A brig twice and 2 sloops.
The ships are out there if you take the time to find them!

    Much love

edit: gif changed :) other one was too surreal :)

  • C

    It's a C from me

  • Inbetween B and C. I wouldn't go as far as to say there's no PvP, but it seems a lot calmer and when I do get in a fight (most of the time on my crew's initiative) it's usually heavily lopsided in my favor. So it's not just about being attacked less, but more the lack of challenge.

  • @RK1-Turbulence
I also miss more Brigg and Galleone Crews in general.

Didnt expect this overall C tendencie, but i'm happy that ad many think like myself.

  • It's a C for me.

  • Im going to give it a C

BUT i want to add that it wouldn’t hurt to up the server shipcount (if technically stable and possible) als i would not mind some of the actual challenges to come back because usually when my crew and me get into a fight we already know the outcome before we have arrived at the outcome.

We Hoard treasure, and are not scared to hold between 100k and 200k gold worth in loot on board, For me there is not a single real time in adventure anymore where i am affraid to lose loot. Or my ship.

  • @bugaboo-bill While I agree a lot of the time, the other night I was dodging 2 galleons and 2 brigs in my sloop and having a great time. Not the norm by any means these days, but still out there.

  • @bugaboo-bill
It really depends on the day, so I'd say c. It mainly depends on what I'm doing. I can usually find ships if I feel like pvp as I'm voyaging, and I can avoid them if I want peace.

  • C is for cookie!

  • @callmebackdraft
Yeah, the next region shouldn't be an extreme challenge so they can.

  • @bugaboo-bill
    What's a pirate's favorite letter?

    The C!

  • C, definitely C.

  • Cast my vote with C.

Last night we had 5/6 ships on a server in an alliance and it was a great time. Session before was PvP/chase & escape involved and I enjoy that as well. One thing that is great about this game is a different set of pirates sailing your sea everytime you sign on. The variety is good.

my vote is b because the severs I go on are almost dead

    not allowed mate lol serassaly

  • My vote is C.

Tides of player population in the servers is always changing. Sometimes the seas are calm and other times busy. Crews just need to understand how to adapt accordingly. Especially PvE Defensive crews.

  • Going for c

  • B definitely. Also personally have not seen enough galleons lately. Mostly sloops with the occasional brig.

Edit - This is considering I sank two brigs that got too close, and had a brig plus 3 sloops in visual range at one point last night. Population has never felt enough for me.

  • @bugaboo-bill C for sure!

  • Actually C right after the anniversary update.

The past week... B, it's empty

I solo 4 times in a row TT1 to get the cannon cosmetic, and did not see a single ship.

When playing with a group in Galleon or Brigantine, we saw 1 or 2 ships in the distance doing their own thing. while doing 3 forts straight back to back.

Hell I even duo sloop a fort without being bothered.

  • My vote is C too

  • I'll vote Sea.

  • BBBBBBBBBBBB

  • @bugaboo-bill B all the way. The devs intended there to be a player interaction approximately every half hour, but more often than not it's longer than that for me. I'd love to see the crew cap, server resources permitting, increased to 8, and then even further as the map eventually expands.

  • As much as I play solo sloop, I feel like it may have gotten too passive. Shortly after launch, you couldn't park your sloop without scanning the horizon. To this day, I still always park on the back sides of islands(think north beach of smugglers, or the west side of mermaids) and leave my anchor up, but I really don't need to.

That said, I don't think Rare needs to make any major changes to reward PvP in adventure mode. Incentivizing PKing a little too much would unleash a never ending swarm of hornets with galleons.

  • C+ for me!

  • C & B. like everyone else said...… depends on the server.

  • I'd vote C as well. It really depends on the day. That being said, it sucks to have an 'unruly' day when that wasn't what you were going for.

  • C of Thieves! ;)

I've long said this game is a terrific study of chaos and shows how people often use a small window of experience to try and define a larger reality. People would often have 1-3 sessions where an aspect of the game seemed either more abundant or less frequent than they expect (or desire) - and they'd make a claim about it having been changed or needing a change. Meanwhile, an equal amount of people would have the exact opposite findings.

All the while, those who understand the ebb and flow of how things are, sail along with the ever-changing, yet always existing, winds and waves.
