@eva1977 well at least you were trying to come up with a solution to the matter, and I thank you for that, not everybody is that mindful about stuff like that. :)

@xix-zeno-xix Yes I believe that is much closer to my intended idea, now lets see if one of us can come up with a brilliant idea for developers. I obviously lack this suggestion.
But actually hearing of other gamer experiences tells us what works and what does not.

@eva1977 again, wasnt trying to stay away from your subject was merely pointing out some things that were missing from your claim upon cheaters and also stating that your suggestion would lead to nowhere as well.

Do you know what would happen if you had made different game modes or even just purely had skill based matchmaking?

People who love to be casual will go into casual mode and find that every battle is either pretty darn easy for some or pretty much almost a tie everytime, with always that one crew or crewmember saying stuff like "this is still bull," and go back into adventure mode.

People who love to be competitive will go into competitive mode, and find that some will be "alright that was a good game" and some will get frustrated the same way they get frustrated in it already, and head back to adventure mode and destroy casual players.

Then we'll have an entire uprise of angry casual players on the forums again, complaining they cant get anything done bcuz of skill based matchmaking in arena. Hell, I wouldnt be surprised if it was happening even now to be honest.

Was that on subject enough for you?

SoT has been live for more than a year and is more popular than ever.
This is a dream game for Rare, expect them to continue to grow all aspects of SoT for years to come.

@xix-zeno-xix Any game that does not fine tune itself eventually falls flat on its face.

If you were a game developer would you want more people playing your game or less?
With that logic I assume all developers attempt to please as many possible.
Perhaps no one has thought about a reasonable method of fixing these combat issues that make for very uneven experiences but the way i see it is; these forums are exactly here so we can provide ideas and not for dissecting the convenient part of comments for the sake of argument.

I rowboated to snake island and found a sloop. Somehow I found 3 chests of sorrows and put them all on board in the crows nest and bailed and waited.

He came back and he was in voice chat, if I had recorded it would be at least 100k YouTube views. He thought I was a noob trying to help him and he starts telling me why the ship is sinking, and then he sees 3 of them and gets livid as his boat sinks.

Then we laughed about how funny it was since there was nothing on the boat and I rowboated him to plunder outpost without robbing him

@eva1977 Look, I'm not trying to "stray" from the subject, given the fact that it's part of your OP, but I'm just stating that you legit have nothing to show to support your claim upon the said cheaters in your match.

It is true, that 1 pirate can easily out maneuver an entire crew, I agree with this possibility. Never said it was an impossible scenario, you're putting words in my mouth, stop that.

If you believe that what you suggest is going to lead to fair challenges then fine, you can have your fair challenges, just know this, when you're out there playing in servers where you can trash all over crews that match your skill level, I'm going to be in the more competitive servers losing AND winning to increase my skill at the game and actually be happy that I can beat possibly even the best of pirates in the game. I want to be the best. Isn't that the drive gamers have in the first place when they play games that are "online required?"

Seriously, you're defending an arguement that has almost no support of it's own suggestion. There's nothing that I've read in here in this thread (unless I skipped over it somehow and just haven't read it yet) that has anything backing up your proposal for me. Just how in the hell do you plan on separating casual players from competitive players in a more than less competitive game mode? Make finding a match take twice as long just to make sure you find the right type of and amount of people that match your skill level? What are they supposed to do? Please tell me, Lol.

Bottom line, and I'm srry if I sound like I'm trying to be mean, cuz I'm not but, I just really think it's a terribly made suggestion, but thank you for trying suggest a solution tho. :)

@xix-zeno-xix And it is really, really straying from the subject. A sort of "smart" deflection with wanting proof of this since it is not that far out there to believe a pirate took out an entire crew multiple times.

Let's assume for a moment I did make that story up. Are you telling me this scenario is impossible to happen? If not, why then focus on the authenticity of this?

Also what part about a fair challenge is that hard to understand?
I never said no challenge just said fair.
Or is it the norm to go from 1 to 10?

@eva1977 so, I'm suppose to just believe what happened to you to be exactly true? I'm sorry but, without any evidence of your claim upon them cheating or not is unsolvable.

I dont think I remember saying anything about your post not being a viable suggestion or proposal to the game, I just merely meant that your post has no evidence on why it should be this way, there is no reason for your suggestion to be implemented other than bcuz you want it to so far. Sure it makes sense for players like yourself but, what about everyone else that wants to have challenges ahead that make them think about their decisions for the next time they play?

@xix-zeno-xix You are incorrect because my post is more of an attempt at input, examples, ideas, on how to create better experiences for all levels of gamers and not on telling me how to play more so i can reach these unbelievable ways of playing.

@eva1977 well either way you put this discussion, this post goes no where without actual evidence upon the possible cheaters/hackers you were complaining about in your original post. So until you do, save the frustration you have for that post in the future where you have some video evidence of ppl in the air like 20 feet shooting down at you.

Because i am stubborn too, and i know stubborn people need a bit of help to open up... And i'm also a smidgy bit insane by Einsteins definition of insanity, as i keep trying to convince stubborn people to change their minds and for some reason always hope to succeed, but i rarely do.

Someone helped me open my mind long ago, i guess im just trying to return the favour or something... Who knows.

Not everything is subjective. Now i understand it isn't easy to just stop being stubborn, so i will leave you with a quote of my own, one i torture myself over every day: "Wisdom ignored, is ignorance." i think it's some kind of ancient chinese proverb or something, i don't know where this quote came from, but it was burned into my mind the second i heard it. xD

Thanks sir. Now the truth lies where I did reach PL in 3 months but it was after the Anniversary update before I reached A10. I just enjoyed the seas and what they brought with it during that time.

@eva1977 that's why you gotta go through the experience of losing first, usually you dont just pick up a game and all of a sudden you're better than a whole lot of experienced players out there without learning what causes you to die first. That's just how skills are developed man and I dont see why YOU cant see that.

Games should be made around and average also for time consuming.
The most games are to oversaturated with content and all.
It's to please the addicts. Nothing should be done that way, but money Talks and money rules, i dont support that. I think if i would play a la actual open world Aaa game and want to do all it will take me ages. 2 years or more maybe.
And no speedrunning, shortcuts and all that tweaking is not playing a game.

You do realize people the average free time of the majority of players amounts to more than 30 minutes per week, right? Have you considered that the reason the game is balanced the way it is, is precisely because people who don't have enough time to play games, are the minority? because, as i just said, they don't have the time to play games, so they usually don't play games... So the few of them that TRY to play games, regardless of how little time they have to spare, are naturally, therefore, the minority. xD

Not my language. I wanted to say i feel a little sorry for people who do all day only gaming, i cannot beleive this is healthy and makes you happy, sorry i worked some years in psychatrie. you know "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" thing :D

The game has been out for over a year, even people with that little time to play have had enough time to reach pirate legend mate... It's not exactly exclusive to the elite. :P

I'm jobless, and i only became pirate legend right before the anniversary update, JUST in time to receive my year 1 pirate legend rewards. I'm taking it slow, so i know what slow feels like. xD

I actually have the time, but i still rarely play SoT, and don't complain about my slow progress, im not athena 10 yet... And you don't see me complaining... Because i actually understand the point of the game... if i still have something to work toward, i still have a journey to go on... more gameplay... This game isn't about racing to the finish line, so you don't need the process sped up.

It's all good. In the beginning things carried more worth in xp and gold almost equal to Devil's roar loot and xp earnings and that helped a lot. After a month it was nerfed down drastically. It took me till April 10th to reach PL I believe so it was about 3 months time.

This guy, who has like 10 hours or less to play per week, with a full time career, is ahead of me, and i don't have a job.... Haha! xD

@xix-zeno-xix Ok that's better, but still I also mentioned before, yes you need to have challenge to be able to get better, obviously but there is a big difference between learning to sail and fire your canons to taking down an entire crew. If people can't see this huge learning gap then there is no point in further discussion on this topic.

@eva1977 are you sure they weren't just jumping from the helm of your ship? Also what's gonna happen if that was implemented and then you get players complaining that can only play with other super skilled players who ALSO dont give any care for feelings of another crew and trash on them too? What if someone who is super skilled wants to show their friend who just got the game how things work and they just get trashed on by other super skilled pirates in arena or adventure modes?

Things need balance for a reason, hence why they haven't done anything like that yet, it's not an easy solution as you might think, there is always going to be a person who doesn't like things no matter what they put out in the game. How is a player supposed to learn how to get better when there isn't competition ahead of them? Sure you can get things done by dueling with someone at your own skill level but, are you getting any better to where you can beat pirates way out of your league? Highly doubtful really

Like reading comprehension is completely missing from this thread.

I did not make it my point to say I dislike this game because I lose or because people are horrible or because people leave.
It is clear as day when i wrote "The point is i saw this guy firing when he was up in the air and shooting down on us while not missing a single shot. This ability is only either allowed or exploited when playing with keyboard and mouse BUT this is not about dividing pc players and console or gamepad vs keyboard, instead have these extreme skilled gamers go up against other similar "super" players.

Everybody seems to ignore that part and just go straight to the "oh you don't like losing" so its not about me losing or laughed at or anything other than not knowing if that crew was cheating or not and furthermore suggesting to have these gamers play with similar experienced gamers which it is an issue completely divided.

@eva1977 tell me, what is the point of your thread then, if it isn't about you pretty much just being upset that "toxic" players or "griefers" beat you in a video game for the competition of winning first place?
