Game crashing on startup

  • Fellow pirates,

as many of you, I was trying to play my beloved pirate game today. Sadly enough, I came to the realization that my game suddenly suffers from the famous "crash on startup" bug.
I tried many of the, partly obscure, fixes that flow around the internet but none of them helped me out.

Things I tried include: re-installation of the game, changing the system language, moving the game to the booting hard drive, logging in and out of xbox, changing to a local account and back, de-installation of the insider hub app, installation of some free app and so on...

As you can guess, I am desperate.

Does anyone of you have a possible fix for a fellow pirate?

    Greetings, faulpanz

  • My friend has the same thing and has tried literally every solution on the internet. He is now even resetting his pc to stock settings. Mine works fine but I refuse to play untill his works as well. I really want Rare to adress this situation other than just sending links to the standard 'Sea of Thieves not launching' page. We tried all, didn't work. And this is the case for a lot of people I have come across trying to find a solution.

RARE, WE WANT TO PLAY YOUR GAME BUT WE CAN'T! HELP US OUT PLS

  • @cpt-pirtu
    Thank you for your reply.
I would also try and set my PC back to the stock options but I have a very bad internet connection. Could you still notify me, if that option does resolve the issue for your friend?

And as you said: RARE, WE WANT TO PLAY YOUR GAME BUT WE CAN'T! HELP US OUT PLS

  • @faulpanz I will let you know as soon as we have found a solution

  • @faulpanz Hey man, we fixed it.

We made sure we were logged into the pc with our microsoft account, than we changed the languague multiple times (standard was english: united states). The language that worked was English: United Kingdom. My friend had to download the language pack, and log in again to confirm the change. We did not change the region. Man, what an excitement. I hope this works for you.

  • I've been suffering the same, I've re-installed the game a few times, on different hard drives each time, though always end up back at C drive. Done the whole installing a free app, retrying the xbox hub, even found some guide with stuff to delete in the local apps. Changed my timezone and back, region. The whole works. Very heartbreaking not to get to enjoy one of my favourite games on such a big update.

  • @faulpanz Dude try the fix that CPT Pirtu did, my friend just tried if after a whole day and it worked holy god, just set the language package to English (UK), make sure your Windows acccount is the same as the microsofft account, reset and booom

Can confirm this worked for me after 4hrs of trying all the other steps.

  • @tranq92 Do not change your region. Just change the language packet to English: United Kingdom. You might have to download it but that is very easy. Make sure you are logged into your pc with your correct Microsoft account. We literally tried every single thing, and only this worked.

Good to hear! Unfortunately I tried this many times and it did not work for me. After contacting the costumer service, I received some tool to delete my apparently "corrupt" game files (I just downloaded the game, so how can it be corrupted?).
Now I'm sitting here with my slow internet, downloading for the last 18 hours and I bet that it still won't work afterwards. Just around 8 hours to go for the next test!
Like @Tranq92 said, it really is a shame to not enjoy this great game.
