Well mate that's the point! If you've sailed long enough to earn those sails you should be ready for about anything! (Not saying ya have to) but if you wear those sails expecting nobody to notice and attack then your going to want a bigger crew.

That's the point! Why else would you want sails like that if you weren't plannin on bein a pirate! Out in these waters the prize is always open to those willing to earn it. And by the way, pirates who go after legends because of their sails are always expecting a fun battle with experienced pirates that might pay off in some good gold. Happy sailing!

Only a pirate lord has enough authority and experience to sail a man o war with 6 players and 12 guns..

Yep sounds perfect. Such a path is what Rare should take. Also makes us the captain of a ship if we launch it. Can also defer captain rights to other Pirate Lords sailing together as well.

Yes, unfortunately it can bring this as well. The other night my spouse and I were sailing in a sloop working an Athena. Found a double gunner camping the tavern at the outpost. We sprung their trap and sent them for a free ride on the Ferry. He kept calling us Pirate Legend trash because we did not let him ambush us and steal the chest. Seems to be a growing trend from many new pirates sailing the recent wave of SoT popularity.

Maybe introduce pirate lord title.. from legend work up to pirate lord but then it should be really hardcore to ever reach such status :D get them to work another year for it ^^

Yes we need more purpose and meaning to a Pirate Legends life. Things that only they can do. Sharing Athena voyages was necessary because a legend does not always sail alone.

Well i kept reminding us of possibilities for boats to have accidents but they all just played good allies and kept their part of the deal :D it was really nice to have a good alliance going on and i was surprised how good these young kids played the athena's and just bring in the legend chest to trade that was a lot of trust maybe naif but it worked this time :D

Yes you and Wolf were having very opportunistic thoughts lol. That is the way it should be. We all roll on the opportunities and take a gamble. It paid off big for everyone last night. Always so much more to gain if we can show there is more than one way to be a pirate. Next time it may go differently and we find more foes than allies, or we end up making them foes. :)

A pirate Captaincy is what we need here, pl10 only voyages.
Athena’s has always been open for all because back in the day it was very hard grinding to achieve it and once you got it you seemed to be all alone. So how would you get to 10athena when you sailed with friends because you couldn’t do the voyages with them on the ship. It should have been set up way back, I was disappointed knowing I could do Athena without been pl. only did a few to help a mate cause knowone would. I see both points here. Just a side note, doing Athena’s to get to pl is a slow unproductive way.

Doesn’t seem to make a difference in my life. I think by the time you’re close enough to see the sails render you’ve already decided on what you want to go down. Intentions don’t change by that point. Ido love running the glowing ghost sails though because they’re awesome.

@ruigtand-nl you just never know if it’s a pl10 with speed run experience and very Lil anything else or a genuine pl10 with a heap of experience. It’s a gamble I guess. But I think what is grabbing the attention is the Legendary Thief title, more likely to be an Athena voyage on a ship with Athena sails hey lol.

Second that! We sailed with them to a lot of fun and adventure last night. There were a couple crews that were figuring they were going to have a negative experience when they sail the glowing ship sail up to them.

Turned out to be a great experience and very rewarding for everyone. It is not what sails you are flying. It is the crew you are sailing with and the crew you want to be that matters most.

I got my pl Athena 10 before cursed sails event back when there was no boosts, alliances and you had to do animals in your Athena. Took 107 athena chests. Back on point, I got the whole set straight up when the update dropped and back then the sails didn’t glow unfortunately, but when we set sail knowone wanted to come near us lol now it’s different Pl and 10athena is much easier to obtain and heaps of pirates run them now. We run the full set when we want attention!! So if you come after us lol that’s what we intended for lol and as usual sink em.

If I want to just sail about doing my thing, I use my Grand Admiral hull and Overachiever sails. Whenever I want guaranteed PVP I go full ghost ship

Last night, to celebrate one of our number finally hitting the big PL we sailed around in our official uniforms in an A10 ship.

Nobody came near us. Except for one friendly Galleon, also in the Athenas set.

When we aren't flexing our A10 ship, those unskinned boats are like moths to a light.

I think you need to get a feel for each server. There's all sorts of pirates out there, and every predator has their preferred prey.

I definitely get attacked way more cannons/verbally when I have a default boat skin. The other night I played solo and silent while people just bombarded me with verbal assault of "wow you must be 10", "you must be on an xbox", "you're trash" all while I killed them solo on my brigantine (keep in mind im almost 40 and on a PC).
Switching to skinned ships I see people run most of the time.

@ghostpaw yeah, can you imagine trying to sell Athenas voyages to the crew if it meant no rep for them?

"Do this voyage, it takes about 2 hours, you'll get no rep, but it'll really help me out"

I can't see that one getting many takers. So then you'd need to assemble a crew of PLs or if you play with a regular crew you'd need to power level them all to PL before you could realistically focus on Athenas rep.

It'd be nice if PL voyages were their own thing, but they need to offer rewards that are relevent to everyone who completes them, not just the PL that proposed them.

@ghostpaw i disagree cuz they get the gold rep the merch rep and skulls if they help you i dont think they should get athena rep
