Skeletons!

Imagine this: In a fight against skeleton captains you get a little bit infected every time you die. A counter runs along, every second time a body part gets sick and becomes skeletonized. This affects the player. He limps, he can't attack loaded any more. He can no longer use firearms because the arm trembles. He can only heal himself if he talks to an NPC. The NPC tells you on which island you can find remedies. He sells a card for gold. The player must find the remedy, drink it. In the following 5 minutes he heals slowly again.

If he becomes a full skeleton, he transforms into a skeleton captain who can be killed by an enemy crew ... and then loses his head.

The same applies to statues. Those who die too often will get a fishy skin. You'll have to keep yourself moist or you'll lose your health. There is also a cure. If you are killed by a foreign crew after complete transformation, you lose a gemstone.
