You do realize that this is game breaking when you sit there and hear your ship taking damage, or crew needing your help, or just plain wanting to play the game again.

We sit on the Ferry for 30-45 seconds anyways to wait in the door to open, why don’t you already start pre-loading us to the locarion we need to go? Eliminate the black screen all together. When the player spawns on the Ferry, start the event to load. When the doors open, we instantly port to wherever we need to go, ship, island, middle of the ocean to some mermaid.

Bottomline, it’s been way too long for this to still exist. Fix it.

Edit: Stop with ‘hook up a ssd”. I repeatedly said I have a ssd yet ppl don’t read.

I run on Xbox One X with a external m2 ssd connected to the usb 3.0 port. The black screen still is too long.

Get good suggests that you died because you are bad. So in that sense it's an insult

Don't die suggests that dying is something to be avoided. In this sense it is just a factual statement with nothing in it that suggests that the person is dying as a consequence of a lack of skill or ability.

In my opinion one is not like the other. ‘Get good’ has been used extensively to tell people they aren’t good at the game and their complaints are simply because they need to get better at it. That is unfair and stupid because it implies that the problem is with you.

In this case, the black screen only happens when you die. @Genuine-Heather is known for snappy jokes, which is exactly what this was: don’t want to deal with the ferry loading issue? Then don’t die.

No, I got exactly what you were saying but the fact you kept saying it was an m.2 drive as if that makes a difference considering the use scenario. If you got it on sale fair enough but it won't have the same impact as you'd expect using better standards than USB 3.0.

Its a developer problem. Streamers on PC have the problem, watch em. Hell Summit had multiple rants on the topic.

I run on Xbox One X with a external m2 ssd connected to the usb 3.0 port. The black screen still is too long.

So please read what I said. Its a developer problem. There is a coding event when we enter the Ferry and there is one when the door opens. Move the player load into the world to the ‘enter the Ferry’ event so we don’t notice the load time since we wait on the ferry anyways.

I was not responding to your post. The two after your initial post said players could only solve it by purchasing a PC. Feel better now?

In my opinion your idea and Uberkull's will solve the same issue. Being dead before you spawn is no fun. I play on PC and it still happens to me. Having the loading time be shorter will help in your issue. Don't take my word for it but; The "advantages" between one another is becoming slimmer and slimmer each day. I don't think anyone can deny that.

It is an issue for players, it leads to frustration.
But it isn't easily fixed, or it would have been.
There have been multiple topics on this issue.
Personally, I had inquired a year ago, maybe it could balance out, load time + ferry time being equal for everyone (outside of lag) .. so that slower load times aren't as punished.

Alas, no changes yet.

The only suggestion is to put SoT on a SSD. For both xbox and pc players that is the best way to lower load times.

(You don't get improved performance from a m.2 external over a "regular" external when it's connected by USB 3.0, the USB will limit it, no use putting $ into NVME unless you are PCIE anyways. A nice article about the types of SSD)

Yet I have the best external SSD available right now hooked to the best external port available on the ‘worlds most powerful console’ the XB1X.

Which is made by Microsoft who’s first party developer made SOT where SOT is designed to be a console game first and then a PC game because of the whole ‘buy once, play anywhere’ Wimdows 10 gaming thing.

So MS is ok with these loading times on thier flagship console?

Somewhere Rare needs to improve. Even the treasure turn in code services are still falling behind to report back gold and rep updates. Rare has been trying to improve this since launch.

You do not need a PC, but it is a hardware limitation of the console. I play primarily on an Xbox One original and moved the game to a cheap external SSD. The difference is very dramatic. The load times dropped from 30-45 down to 3-6 seconds. Give it a try. Your life will improve.

It is sad to see people use the PC masterrace term without irony. I remember when it started as a joke to poke fun of PC elitists.
