How Rare can save their game and make a HUGE comeback.

  • If one of the Developers is reading this, please take the time to read what someone who loves and has bought the game has to say. The game isn't terrible anymore, but it could be AMAZING. Without further ado, here are my:
4 things the Dev's need to do to save Sea of Thieves: lengthy, but this could CHANGE the game and make it something actually worth playing.

    Number one, most importantly:
    BETTER QUESTS!

Although players are supposed to "decide" how to play the game, there isn't much "game" that you can decide on how to play. Fetch quests are BORING. NPC's on the island that offer special quests would be a welcome addition. (Like the one dude from the megalodon missions.) That mission was very fun to do. It added world building and a bit of lore, something fresh. To improve on that mission, you could change the objectives in the quests. Instead of reading books, like that mission, they could add battles with ghost ships, treasure hunts, stuff like that. The story wouldn't have to be crazy, just like maybe getting a necklace back for a shopkeeper. All of the little quests that come together for a big boss battle at the end (Blackbeard in a HUGE ship with like 6 cannons, Giant Crab that you have to use a special bait (kept in buckets) to summon, Mermaid King that sends waves of mermaids at you, stuff like that). Killing the Megalodon with other players and having to team up was a cool twist. After the battle they could cash in for a big reward and cool items. Adding a few of these missions per update would honestly save the game on its own. It would keep players coming back for new missions. with unique rewards like the shark drum. Don't lock the content out afterwards though, keep it in so newer players get to play ALL the quests, not the just the active ones that they just added. So with that major thing out of the way, here are three other things they can add to make the game better.

-CONTROVERSIAL- (could go against Rare's philosophy with the game, but its just an idea)
I think they should add a pvp mode. 2-4 crews go head to head to find treasure ( or maybe kill a boss, reach the top of a mountain first, last ship standing) while racing and fighting to come out on top. that sounds like fun right? Maybe more fun for the people who like to grief. They could come up with clever ways to outsmart and outplay the enemy crews. Big cash payout for first, while the reward gets smaller going 1st-4th.

    BETTER ISLANDS!

The islands have cool names, but they usually don't relate all too much. Usually its just the shape of the island. Unique islands would create a memorable world. A few ideas for unique islands:

RIver island: has a river that runs through it, and you can get swept up in the river's current.
Mushroom island: Basically just minecraft mooshroom islands. They can bounce and you don't take fall damage.
Glowing forest: The trees glow at night, like the ones in the Avatar movie.
Pirates Bay: has unique pirate npc's that can offer special pvp missions (like the forsaken shores area has the cargo runs)
Spider's nest: Boss battle area with spider enemies and culminating in a massive cavern, home to the spider queen.
Underwater Mermaid Kingdom: a giant underwater dome that you could swim into.

A few of these islands sprinkled in would much better flesh out the world. The forsaken shores islands are a great example of how to make cool islands, with the lava and rocks being a new challenge. The islands there are way more memorable than "Scurvy Isley" or "Black Sand Atoll" The stories told about these islands would be much more interesting than "generic island 1."

    LAST BUT NOT LEAST:
Encounters! make more of them. (WHY IS THERE NO WHIRLPOOL? ADD ONE plz!! it would be super dope.) All jokes aside, a massive whirlpool that is spotted in the distance from the crow's nest would be a terrifying and memorable experience. More stuff like the Kraken would be really cool to have.

Anyways, if you read this whole thing, kudos to you. Spread this around and maybe we can get the devs to see it.

  • What this game needs for more pvp is not a game mode dividing the playerbase (not to mention straight copy pasted from skull and bones) it's a dedicated pvp npc selling specific cosmetics for pvp according to reputation and a bounty hunter npc, also selling specific cosmetics according to reputation, to counter balance the excess of pvp, as more specifically lame pvp behaviors (griefing, ganking, chain noobs killing)
