The Kraken attack that tangles itself around the ship have this tendancy on the brigantines to compleatly cover up the entrance of the bottom deck and will sink the ship before its even remotly possible to untangle it and can only be achieve with sword since weapons amo are trap below the tantacles that compleatly obstruate the entrance of the bottom deck ...

This need a solution ASAP the kraken tantacles shouldnt be compleatly blocking the entrance to the bottom deck of a brigantine at any point or time ... it simply 100% make that your ship will sink and you wont be able to do anything about it ... especially faster if a megalodon atack at the same time as the kraken and it happen while fun it isnt fun to be compleatly block and " cheated " in that sort of way to force you to sink even if you dont deserve to ...

Its a very unfortunate and unworthy way to loose your ship and need to change ... kraken should never totally block the entrance to the bottom deck totally preventing any possible repair before your ship sink ...

Other events like PvP or other PvE events occur more frequently than there used to be around a kraken since kraken spawn is more frequent. It is definitely not impossible to escape/defeat the kraken with a brig, but that really is not the point of argument here.

There is ways to get around it and I encourage those to take advantage of it who have been posting here, but in truth the mechanic does seem very flawed in design and should probably be looked at (specifically for the brig before someone comes at me with the "I beat it solo sloop all the time"). Personally, like most here, I want the kraken to be an actual challenge. Most of the time it is really just a pushover that takes a lot of time, but the fact that people are encouraging the use of bugs with bailing under a tentacle as solutions to the problem should raise a couple of flags. The difficulty of the kraken should not be tied to unfortunate circumstance and more toward skill. Shooting the head of the tentacle is always an option but this is also an option made more available to those in sloops and galleons as the sloop has ways to get around the wrapping while not getting trapped underneath and the galleon has more options available to it with 2 levels of hull and 4 people rather than the usual 2-3 on a brig. So it really seems to be a flaw with the design, not the players which is why the people posting are so frustrated with others trying to give advice to them and being flamed for their ineptitude.

This is a feedback post and not a "who is best player" contest. Please try to understand other's arguments.

This mechanic is ridiculous and I have lost far too much loot to it. I am a competent player and sail with a competent crew and more often than not we are sunk by the Kraken purely because of it wrapping around our hull entrance.

We keep one player below but the issue is it’s not enough. They delay our sinking but it doesn’t buy us enough time to deal with the tenticles.

I get that it’s suppose to be hard, but it it appears too frequently and quite often appears along other things. Couple this with the hull wrapping issues and it’s nearly impossible for even competent crews to deal with.

I like a challenge and the kraken needs to be hard but ultimately I feel more cheated than challenged when I lose my loot to this.

Entirely agree here. The kraken is the one PVE event that has any sense of challenge to it.

As with any boss fight in any game (I'd say the emergent threats are the closest things to bosses in this game), you have to learn how to over come the mechanics of that encounter.

I won't regurgitate the same tip that has been posted here by a lot of friendly folk, but they are telling the truth. Since finding out about that mechanic I've defeated the kraken every time, what ever ship type I was on.

I know you are not here for tips, but this is how you deal with this mechanic.

You don't need to spam all of your ammo at the tentacle's "head" in order for it to let go. It only takes a few shots. I was on the deck of my solo sloop when he wrapped around my ship. I couldn't go down to bail water or to restock on cannon balls, but it was fine. It only took me about 4-5 cannon balls to make the tentacle go away.

It should be really easy for a full brig crew. go downstairs if he uses his vacuum cleaner move, repair the moment a hole is made and everyone should have full supplies on them at all times.
For the wrap itself, have someone on repair duty during the fight. When he does that move, focus on the "head" and you are done. It's really easy.

Can you realise that unlike most peoples in this game we do not go and sell " castaway chest " as soon as we get one in fear of loosing stuff ? And we keep lots of loot on board so if anyones are good enough to kill our crew in PVP will get a reward thats our fun , and thats what we are looking for , loosing to better than us wich as not yet happen , we had very few decent fights ... i can remember 3 out of the top of my head since launch ...

Thats said loosing our potential PVP givaway reward to a bad game mechanics isnt my concept of chalenge ...

I am all for buffing the Ai if they dont trigger as much when a PVP battle is already waging , and have more chance to trigger when the sea is to calm .. Also i am all for buffing the kraken , adding more timing more mechanics , precision damage etc... that requires skills and coordination ... but blocking the top of the only entrance to the bottom deck and also blocking the ladders on the brig isnt good mechanics at all you cant get back into the ship if you get swallow by the gigantic aspirator machine lol you cant bail water if you were inside the brig , you cant do anything basically unless your full of amo you have all 3 cremates on the deck ready to spam all your amo into the head of the tantacle ...

My complains are legitimate ... and i have no problem sinking skelly ships , skelly events , forts , PVP alliance multiples galeons vs 2 or 3 of us , etc... this game isnt Tera online or Vanilla wow pve ... Buffing the PVE in a way that is fun , and base on skills i am all for that ... making bad mechanics meant to screw you over .. i am not for that

I strongly disagree with your assessment of the Brig, it's actually the easiest ship to keep floating, and you're wrong about the holes all being on the same level.

The Brig like the sloop has 2 layers of holes, the lower are those you cannot ignore and should recover first; then there are a second layer of holes that leak much much slower if ignored just like the sloop. Just as the sloop, once you pass that point you take full water fill from all ship damage; its the same concept.

Bailing water from the brig is also ridiculously easy because you merely stand in the stair way and pivot and bucket with out taking a single step.

Repairing the brig is nearly as easy as the sloop because all the holes are on the same deck, and just like the sloop have 2 tiers of holes that need to be fixed, in that the lower holes are more mission critical than the upper.

Additionally the brig keeps its speed in rough waves unlike the sloop or the galleon who slow down greatly in rough seas.

In addition to that the brig is designed for 2 / 3 crews making sailing it VERY easy.

The problem with the kracken is a play strategy problem, not a ship issue. You don't need to fire / slash on the one that wraps the ship any more, instead you can attack the nearest one to the ship; it's "head" will be pointed toward you typically allowing you to fire your cannon on it.

I survived the kracken solo. A couple direct hits and the ship wrap will no longer be an issue. You then bail like a mad man, and then immediately do a single lower tier hole. Then bail again, then repair more. You can catch up on damage very quickly, but the problem you will face often is you have not enough supplies to survive the encounter solo.

This is why when playing solo you make darn certain you have plenty of wood for repairs. Failing to be prepared will send you right to Davey Jones no matter what ship, no matter who you are.

Good luck.

I know you're saying you don't want tips but clearly you need them. When the Kraken wraps its tentacle around another tentacle (or maybe the tip of the wrapped tentacle) spawns very close to the ship. All you have to do is shoot that a few times with cannonballs and that tentacle sinks down and it slithers off the ship.

Its very easy you jusy have to be alert. As for you constantly flexing about how you kill everyone all day in game, I highly doubt that if you cant even handle a kraken.

Takle the tips from all of the incredible polite and helpful players here or dont, but either way its absolutley not an issue the devs need to fix, I play Brigantine every time I play and its just not an issue providing you can organise your crew properly....
