[Mega Thread] Forsaken Shores

@katttruewalker I found that returning to the ship when an earthquake starts and setting sail once the smoke starts, works well to avoid getting hit by fireballs too. Waited outside the fireball range untill the island calmed down again.

Just make sure your ship is close to where you are.

The Volcanos are too damn accurate, last too long, and too way too much damage and trigger WAY too frequently. Not to mention the constant geyser spitting on every single island. I understand they were introduced to add some danger to the new sea, but the reward is just the same as doing regular voyages in the non-volcano filled ocean. You do the islands once for the commendations and you never do them again.

Overall I think this a super cool update and adds a lot to the game world! Having said that, I believe there is a lot of room for improvement in the region.

Volcanic Eruptions: Too frequent, last too long, too accurate, too damaging, and the range is too long. These seriously need to be toned down.

    • Duration: I was waiting on my sloop for Flintlock Peninsula to stop erupting for around 5 minutes. Having the rowboat is not a guarantee, and even then, I never like leaving my boat far out. Let's not forget this is a PvP game and let's not forget about solo sloopers. Don't force players to wait like this.
    • Frequency: I would sail into islands after an eruption only to have them erupt again a few minutes later.
    • Damage: I got 1-shot one too many times and then would have very little or zero chance of saving my boat. Make direct hits do 90% damage, not 100%.
    • Range: It’s kind of silly to be hit by a volcano while on a completely different island. I was sunk by Flintlock Peninsula’s volcano while on Cinder Islet. Not fun.
    • Accuracy: The tracking seems a bit much.

Ashen Treasure: It’s cool that treasure is worth more in this region BUT if this is the reason the volcanoes are so crazy, please make the treasure worth around 1.5x instead of 2x (just guessing at the current numbers) and tone down the volcanoes.

Treasure Sinks too Fast: Because sinking is common in this region, I'd like to be able to retrieve my treasure if I sail back quickly enough. I pretty much had a best case scenario: I was sunk at Cinder Islet and spawned at Barnacle Cay. I sailed straight back and my entire haul was gone except for my crate of volcanic rocks and 1 explosive barrel. I swam to the bottom of the ocean floor and my treasure wasn’t there either.

Rowboat: A cool new addition to the sandbox! Great job! (Some people say it can get stuck at times, but this hasn’t happened to me. An easy fix could be letting players row in both directions by having a button that toggles row direction. Another fix could be to always lets players push the boat.)

Cursed Cannonballs: These are still spawning too frequently.

Sunken Ships in the Roar: These should have ashen treasure aboard, or at least a chance for ashen treasure.

Maps in Barrels: These do not feel special the way finding bottles do, and now it seems there are too many non-voyage quests in the voyage radial. I would suggest leaving bottles as they are and greatly lowering the frequency of maps, or removing them from the game. If you want to keep them and make them feel a little more special, don’t make them lootable with “Take-All,” so players have to consciously select them. This also makes it a choice to pick them up, like bottles. Let's be real, right now they are a non-choice because everyone spams Take-All.

Merchant Alliance - This NPC NEEDS to be at Morrow’s Peak. I understand the story reason why they might not be here yet but this shouldn’t matter. Gameplay should be #1 in this instance.

Active Volcano at Morrow’s Peak: Not sure this is really necessary. Outposts should feel relatively safe. The entire region is already hostile, and tons of potentially hostile ships come to this outpost as it is. It would be nice to feel (somewhat) safe in at least 1 area in this region. I don’t want to worry about a volcano while browsing the cool new items.

Sea Posts: The selection of on-sale items seems too limited (maybe because I’ve bought most of the items already?). I think it would be cool if they gave a discount on an entire (random) item set (clothing, weapons, equipment or ship).

Geysers: These mostly feel good. I would say to increase the time between each blast, though. Currently it’s too easy to use them to kill skeletons and it’s annoying to dig up a chest with a geyser constantly blasting you. Increasing the time between blasts will allow players to feel more skillful in these scenarios by using good timing.

Earthquakes: These haven't been a problem for me yet, but I have read other players say that they can't out-run explosive skellies while under the effects of an earthquake. That definitely sounds like a problem. Maybe slow the skellies down a bit while an earthquake is active.

I'm loving the update so far but I can see my kids giving up on it (8 and 10) as the difficulty is like going from Mario to dark souls. Sea of thieves is a game for all and I'd hate to have to stick to safe islands and voyages when I play alongside them.

As many have said before, the homing rocks are insane. This, coupled with sniper accurate skeletons makes landing on an island (if you get there at all) very difficult. I like it, it requires skill and patience. My kids however don't like losing so much loot to a 1 shot followed by a long black loading screen that culminates with our boat having sunk and us ending up miles away.

When I'm not playing with them, I tend to solo sloop but it seems like this is too risky at the moment. I've instead opted for sailing round the destination isle until it calms down enough to get close and dig up my loot / smack a skeleton captain in the chops. Leaving your ship alone - and significantly far out due to the Olympic shot putt flaming boulders - to row until your arms wear off in to stumps seems a bit too much like painting a target on yourself for organized groups to come and sink your butt.

@khaleesibot Played a fair few hours last night, some with a friend and some solo. Overall, I love this update and had a great time exploring the new area and a fair few laughs over misshapenings with geysers and falling rocks. Though I do have a couple of observations.

    1. The Rowboat. A fantastic addition! The control method is great, it's fun to use, and it has a useful purpose. However, it's far too weak. Last night I stopped quite far offshore from an island I had an x map for (far enough away that my sloop wasn't hit by the volcano). Rowed to shore, climbed from the boat and within possibly about a minute falling rocks had destroyed the boat. Leaving me having to teleport back to my ship and wait for the volcano to end so I could sail up and find my chests the old fashion way.

    2. Volcano range/intensity. Now I love the volcanoes. They add an awesome atmosphere and real danger to the world. But in the sense of fun, are they a little too dangerous? Whilst on the same voyage as above, I sailed to another large island and began the task of digging up some chests, I'd dug up three and one left to find. As I dropped sail to move to the other side of the island the volcano erupted. Worried for my loot I sailed away to open water, quite far, so far in fact that I was worried I might be too close to another island that was erupting! Thinking I was far enough away to wait out the volcano I raised sail and turned to face the island. Boom! A falling rock hits me, sending me to Davy Jone's locker. By the time I respawned my ship had sunk, so I hadn't had a chance to recover. Perhaps volcanoes could be dialed back a little so they have a little less range? I mean, a cannon would have got me maybe half way to the island from where I was and my rowboat had been destroyed (see above). It just seems a little too punishing as it is right now.

Obviously I was sailing solo at this time. Things might have been different with a crew mate, but that isn't the point I'm trying to touch on here.

Just a bit of feedback on the rowboat...
In general I love the way the rowing has been implemented, I was dreading it being a 'press A to row' or something, but having to use the left and right triggers for the corresponding oars and using that to steer is great.
It took me a while to realise holding the left/right bumper would hold that oar in the water and allow a faster turn, BUT I agree with @GonnaBleedYa here, that it would be nice to be able to back-paddle as well, perhaps having it so tapping the bumpers would place that oar in the water and it stays there until you start rowing again, and holding the bumper would back paddle with that oar - this would allow you to either go astern to leave the island or when arriving, avoiding getting stuck trying to turn.
@captain-gepsu - not sure what you mean about reversing the controls, I found that the left trigger rowed with the oar in my left hand regardless of which way I was facing.

Fantastic update. Lots of new stuff to buy and explore. Like most I agree the volanoes need tuning. As well as the gold rewards for devils roar items. Its impossible to do anything at all solo in DR and make it worth it. This is great but not everyone has a crew to play with and randoms are just... well you know.
It helps if everyone understands that making the AI too strong in the beginning is done because its far easier to guage how to much to tune it. Whereas if its too weak to start you could tune it up 20 times but still not have it right. Its supposed to be ridiculously hard right now.

I only managed one session yesterday and that was within an hour of the servers coming back online. So my experience is limited but based on that I could not recommend the Devils Roar for the casual solo slooper.

Like others have posted here I’ve been one shot killed by falling rocks at quite a range from the volcano and did not even see the incoming projectile. The first sinking was at Scorched Pass where I was off the sloop and It was sinking by the time I was able to get back. The respawn put me at Wanderer’s Refuge ☹

After sailing all the way back there a bored PL took it upon himself to board my sloop and repeatedly kill me each respawn. I was saved from scuttling by a game crash.

My second attempt saw me one shot killed by Brimstone Rock from an explosion at The Devil’s Thirst and by the time I’d loaded back in from the Ferry the sloop had sank. The Respawn put me at Marauder’s Arch this time.

Third and final effort saw a cannon shoot me up as I approached The Devil’s Thirst from the north, as I was only exploring I abandoned ship to die from a single hit off a volcanic rock.

In each case I lost any treasure I had onboard as I was unable to find a vendor for the items I had. Yes there are GH, and OSS at Morrow’s Peak Outpost but there was no MA vendor when I was there, that station was empty.

IMO the volcanoes are too frequent, too intense and have too great a range. Yes the idea is to use the rowboats but in the Devil’s Roar these were few and far between. I only saw two there, the one at Fletcher’s Rest was destroyed by a geyser before I could board it and the other was at Ashen Reaches, so I’d sailed the whole new area before I found a usable one.

I am disappointed with this update. I know it is free and I shouldn’t complain. Don’t get me wrong, I still 100% love this game. Let me explain:

With The Hungering Deep we were introduced to a new threat on the seas. As massive shark that could only (read: easier) be killed when crews bond together. It gave more meaning to the game by opening up opportunities to team up with other crews. It lacked reason to go through the battle again, though.

Then the Cursed Sails sailed into the world. Yet another A.I. threat, but this time it was different. The alliance system gave us new ways to betray or to be betrayed. Which in my opinion was tons of fun as it contributes to the thrill and excitement this game can give the player. Cooperation was needed to defeat the waves of ships and the reward was plentiful. It gave a reason to come back for more.

And now we have The Forsaken Shores. We have 15 new islands to explore. Don't get me wrong, the volcanic landscape is simply amazing. The fact is that this new update lacks some sort of campaign is probably most disappointing. It just doing the same thing over and over again, but this time with volcanoes.

The best experience I had with The Forsaken Shores was finding a rowboat, finish up an active fort with my mates and load that sweet loot onto the rowboat. An addition that could've been released with a regular update.

Don't get me wrong, I love the fact the developers expanded the map without any performance issues they mention earlier. The landscape looks amazing and the volcanoes are beautiful. But other than that, what is the difference with the main map? It feels to me the could have filled the islands in the main map with more things to do. Heck, maybe finish those inactive forts first? Why go through all the trouble and spending so much time on creating a new piece of map, if what they have still feels unfinished. Why delay the cargo runs if they just could've released them in the main world.

The Forsaken Shores is just hard mode aimed for the non-legend. Maybe it just lacks a reward waiting to be explored, beyond to the horizon, in a far away land...

But when you point out criticism it is important to come up with a solution as well. So I am making a list of easy additions that could have made this expansion feel more than it is now:

    • More outfits I am talking outfits like Grand Admiral, Ruffian Sea Dog etc. Bring in at least 8 new outfits.
    • New instrument everybody has been asking for a new instrument. Where is the banjo? Something as simple as this could make me smile. The excuse is "we don't have enough room on the equipment wheel".
    • New shanty The Hungering Deep did it, why can't we have one or two new shanties?
    • Cannon cosmetics We all know it is a lot of work to design an implement all the cosmetics for all the ship liveries, but come on. This was already (accidentally) teased with the Cursed Sails.
    • New animal: crab we all want them! In addition all we need is a new cage. Make the crabs only spawn in the Devil's Roar. Maybe they hide in the sand when a volcano is active? Capture them and bring them to an outpost. Same old merchant quest, but it's fresh.
    • Commendations for Kraken and Megalodon kill the creature x amount of times. Heck, kill it on a sloop, a brig, a galleon whilst in an alliance for all I care. I don't ask much, just the slightest reward of engaging the creature. It would be nice if these commendations are attached to the cosmetics.

I believe I am not asking for much. I really would like to see some more variety, instead of empty islands with new stationary threats on it.

    Here 's my short feedback.

It's hard, i wont recommend FS to solo, but all overall i like it.

Unfortunately one of our crew got the xbox error and couldnt rejoin while we were playing.

We found all of the Flintlocks crew, but i still need to visit some Islands to get the title and exclusive cosmetics.

Thanks for grab all in barrels.

Flying rocks far away do stutter, lag to me, if i come close they dont.
Playing on a Omen Laptop, the 4k 1070 one.

Rowboats should be safe on a shore and not get hit by rocks.

Dealing with pvp while your Ship is far away is rather impossible.
So this Region is perfect for plunder others.

I think it's a good update, but i understand people complaining about soloing.

Performance and Xbox live need to be adressed.

Cant wait for Cargo Runs, but i also need to say that i stopped playing solo.
To me it's rather too difficult or dangerous to loose everything all the time.

I have a crew until, but numbers drop.
If i one day dont find a crew anymore, and i dont do random Crews, i want trustfull people i understand, i know how they play etc...
I just wont login anymore due to difficulty level and threats on the seas.

Keep up the good work, i take it as a challenge and i still have fun playing it.

    Have Fun - Stun

    I applaud everything you've said.
A very accurate description with very logical suggestions.

    Well done.

@williamherschel This post needs a thousand upvotes. I used to love this game, but now it's just too damn frustrating!
I want it to be fun, but the game keeps p*****g me off at every opportunity. It's like they dont want us to play or stick around!

From the very beginning there has been a mismatch between the longevity of the gameplay loop and the speed of "progresseion" (i.e gold and cosmetics), where only the most resilient and creative players would endure the grind to Pirate Legend. I have had a lot of fun in SoT as well - and I still occasionally do - but less and less because of the game, and more because of the people I play with.

I used to love Skeleton Forts, but now there's just Skeleton Ships on the horizon and the amount of preparation and resources needed turn people off from engaging with them. Had the rewards been 100 000 gold people would do it. But it's not, so people don't.

I used to love ship to ship combat - trying to overtake and outmaneuver other pirates. Now it's just a f-ing mess with magic canon balls and exploding barrels "en mass". Had there been 8 people on each gally that might have been fun. But there isn't, so it's not!

Yesterdays gameplay loop went like this: Patch ship getting shot to pieces by homing lava rocks from two sides. Respawn every time you get one shotted trying to empty hull. Row to island, try to find treasure. Respawn every time a rock, geysir, exploding skely, snake or boiling water kills you. Enjoy an earthquake while your f-ing foot is broken from a geysir. Look for row boat that is blown to pieces. Swim in boiling water to ship thats anchored up so far away that you need to respawn 8 times to get anything onboard. Not to mention that during this you constantly need to patch your ship up. THERE IS MORE PEOPLE ON THE FERRY OF THE DAMNED THAN ON THE ACTUAL SEA OF THIEVES! It should be renamed Ferry of the Stupid and Resilient.

We got new items in the store, a Kraken-set even! You can just buy it... Why, in the name of god all mighty, wasn't this a reward when we actually killed the kraken!? I simply can't wrap my mind around it. It's seems so obvious. It's like they (Rare) don't play their own game..

I really wanted to rant more...I have som many thoughts about this game, I guess we all do! -but as I write this it dawns on me that it's is not worth it. I should put my energy elsewhere. Games should first and foremost be captivating, fun, challenging and rewarding - Sea of Thieves is becoming more and more frustrating. And if you don't have time to play your own game go on to Twitch and witness SoT-fans banging their keyboards in frustration as anger turns to sorrow, that again turns to despair and then finally to laughter. The maniacal laughter of insanity.

Luckily RDR2 and Astroneer 1.0 is right around the corner. Peace.

What did we get in the new long-awaited update "Forsaken Shores?"

    1. New location with islands.
    2. Boat.
    3. A bit of customization.
    4. New commendations.

Is this a new content that everyone is asking about?

    1. What to do on these islands?
Again dig chests, kill skeletons and farm Athena Fortune?
    2. Why do we need a boat?
You can swim to the island, but there is no return. The volcanic eruption and earthquake begins immediately, as you step on the island and continues until everyone dies. Impossible to do quests!
The boat can be destroyed with one stone hit. And the stones hit the target very aptly.
Yesterday spent about 1 hour to find a boat and lost it after first shot from enemy ship's cannonball! lol
    3. The new customization is good.
I bought it and what's next? What to do next? Again dig chests, kill skeletons and farm Athena Fortune?
    4. New commendations is good.
This time not boring and terrible like always! But this is not content! Dear Rare, you think otherwise, but it's not.

And this volcanic eruption and earthquake... As I wrote above - The volcanic eruption and earthquake begins immediately, as you step on the island and continues until everyone dies. Impossible to do quests! Earthquake stunning you and fiery stones and geysers kill instantly.

Dear Rare! Do you understand what content is?
Content - this is what makes the game interesting - variety of gameplay! For example:

    • new raids, like the Scull Fort,
    • coop raid bosses (you can make Kraken or Meg like big boss with loot and rewards for repetitive killing and add new sea dangerous creatures),
    • new PvP events, bounty hunting etc.,
    • a lot of new kinds of quests - escort someone, defend outpost from AI ships etc. (not only kill or bring like now),
    • at least add capture the flag or capture the island and get some advantage for a while (10%, 20%, 30% extra money, extra ship speed).

And finally, where are the long time ago promised new quests for Pirate Lehends Athena 10? And when you add Athena commendations and new ghost weapons for Athena Fortune?

Dear Rare, you can make a lot of things to diversify the gameplay but instead you add not necessary and not interesting things.
Dear Rare, change the course, or your ship with a lot of potential will sink!

Some great feedback, and I entirely agree with this. When I first saw the commendations stating "Discover the fate of... (insert name)", I had it in my mind that we'd go through a quest in the same ilk as we had with Cursed Sails, gradually unlocking each commendation as we go from clue to clue. Shame it didn't turn out that way.

Microsoft's services and server performance are severely punishing this game.

Their support staff is not even aware of when their own servers are down and instead force you to go through steps that are the same for every conceivable issue, even when you've made clear that you have already performed those steps 3 times.

I was able to play for some hours yesterday despite the problems but later I was disconnected and haven't been able to log in to Xbox live on PC since.

One would expect server performance and stability to get better with time but this is not the case. In just a couple of months since I bought the game there has been more downtime and issues with Xbox Live than I've had with PSN, Steam and my service provider combined in 3 years.

As the developer it's about time you demand more from Microsoft.

  • 1

    @katttruewalker this game sucks

  • 2

Please turn down the range of the volcano's and how often they erupt!!! This is just too much and almost impossible!!!

  • 0

Ive watched at least 15 ships sink (not counting my own) due to not having enough time to escape from volcanoes. All types of ships newbies and legends. Its just too much Im done trying to play in DR until its fixed. Please let us know!

After spending more time in the Forsaken Shores, I wouldn't mind the difficulty if you were actually allowed to explore a bit. The environments and atmosphere are excellent. And I do like the added challenge for the region. However...

Volcanoes last ridiculously long and have a bit too much range in my opinion, and row boats aren't ideal as if you die you still spawn on your ship, and have to trek back to an island somehow and they usually are destroyed by then. I think the targeting and frequency of the lava rocks are fine, same with geysers and lava cracks on the ground, just the length of the eruption and radius of the volcanoes that need tweaking. I don't usually mind dying, it's the time investment after dying that's the pain.

It took almost an hour last night bouncing back and forth trying to complete a riddle chest on one island, and had our ship sank twice (one of which was random as it was new, had no damage when we parked it, no other ships or active volcanoes, or island cannons firing). And of course it respawns in another region, like Shores of Plenty, adding to the time sink in the trek to get back. This makes this entire region feel more like a chore and less engaging.

I feel that the max volcano range should be just about equivalent to max cannon firing range. This would allow you to park your boat far enough offshore to fire yourself closer, but still have to swim back with any loot, making multiple trips as needed. This also still encourages the rowboat to bring multiple treasure items, and avoid boiling water and sharks, (while also making your ship a target for other ships passing by), but gives players a bit more choice and makes death and time investment a little less punishing. I believe that would be a fair balance.

Also had geysers erupting under a chest being dug up, and gunpowder barrel skellys spawn in an active geyser that detonate instantly. While frustrating in the moment, was fun and enjoyable in context.

Coupled with this, I would love to see rowboats be treated more like ships and less like a resource, in that they should be able to have damage repaired utilizing the planks. This allows them to last a bit longer and have more durability, and again makes losing one a little less punishing if you are able to salvage it a couple times beforehand.

This game is an absolute bore. After 6-7 months there is still nothing to do apart from fetch quests. Great.

  • 1

I play Forsaken Shores for two days with my wife and I have come to conclusion that this update is just Hardcore mode of this game.

Let me share my experience with new update:

    • Barrel UI is better now, grab all is good
    • Volcanos - it is hard to make voyages with it, too long distance is covered by volcanos, extremelly accurate aiming of falling rocks is frustrating (how could it be that one volcano hit my ship four time during one minute), one hit on your ship and you are dead and while you are on Ferry your ship is sinking... there is no need even in PVP - volcano will do it's job! We need to reduce damage, accuracy and range of Volcanos. Because it is torture to make OOS voyage on an island with volcano. After my ship was sunked by volcano I respawned in Shores of plenty and the wind wasn't on my side... Isn't it a torture?
    • Rowboat - well I saw how this boat was presented in video as if it is very handy thing, but in reality it is not so! I had OoS voyage on an island with volcano, I parked my ship behind a hign rock in a water, used my Rowboat to get to the island and the MADNESS bigin, geysers, lava and PVP... It is like being in a box with spyders! Why after death in a battle with skeletons I respawn on my ship??? While my Rowboat on an island??? I need to swim throught boiling water with sharks!!! Ok. I defeated Skeletons captains and "Surprise" another crew are trying to steal my Rowboat with skulls!!!! Ok. I killed two enemies. But the most interesting is that it takes a lot of time to get on this "high speed" ROWBOAT to my ship AND another "surprise" I closed to my ship, but I wasn't alone... the enemy ship was already next to mine!!! It is MADNESS. This game should bring FUN but it just makes me frustraing.

I wonder how it was tested? Why new region is so hard? Or this game is just for hardcore players?

  • 1

Please Reduce Volcano Eruptions and Geyser Blasts. It too cumbersome to quest there. I know it’s suppoaed to be hard, but this is artificially increasing difficulty by having these pop up every 5 seconds. You get shot up by geyser then volcano erupts and you die and your boat gets hit because volcano rocks go way to far so you have to park your boat a billion miles off shore. Then slowly row in to the island. And the cycle repeats itself. It’s annoying and easily the worst update atm. Tbh it’s not very fun. Maybe like when you get to a island, a timer starts maybe 10-20 minutes and that’s the time you get before earthquake. Then you have 2 minutes to get to the rowboat before the volcano explodes

From the looks of the pirates in the FS trailer I was under the impression that facepaint (and jewelry) may be coming with the update. Any word on when that may be arriving?

  • 0

After witnessing multiple instances of people struggling to decide which player is doing the attach/detach of the rowboat, the interaction was clearly awkward and a bit sloppy. So there is a good proposal in the forums by a fellow poster that you guys should probably pay attention to.

@blackeyethe2nd said in Improvements to the rowboat:

You need to detach BOTH ropes that hold the boat to the ship.

Although perhaps having a delay between being able to attach or detach after one or the other action was performed might be less intrusive, I quite like the suggestion.

  • 1

Is there a way to push a rowboat from the front? I was not able to find a location that would bring up the prompt so I'm assuming there isn't one. If there is, its activation area is definitely too small. If there isn't one, there needs to be.

It also took awhile to figure out how to work the oars because my hands didn't really move when I pushed the keys. Eventually I started moving and I think I figured it out (A/D for forwards, Q/E for backwards?) but the animations are either broken or don't give you enough feedback that you are actually operating it properly.

  • 2

One of the most un-enjoyable experiences I've had, and that's saying a lot as I've been to Afghanistan four times. 13/9 would not play again.

  • 2

I have been very critical towards Rare on the bugs.

But holy cow did they hit the mark with devil's roar area. I absolutely love the chaos. I've died a dozen times to the echos of my laughter. Geysers randomly everywhere, explosions in the distance, skellies evaporating to geyser as I fight them, digging up a chest and a geyser spawns on it... Running back to the boat as the volcano explodes. OMG this is good stuff. Please rare do not turn down the 'difficulty' of FOrsaken shores. It is absolutely chaotic (explicit word) fun fun fun. And it's all wonderfully pointless. Yay!

    Now about the bugs....

(Disclaimer: I only played for three hours yesterday on a sloop with my wife and we completed my second athena quest in forsaken shores, did all eight quests never had my ship sink once, before forsaken shores I hated the Athena's quest. I typically Pvp alot but I did not fire one shot at a player. The chaos of Forsaken shores tamed me. I absolutely love the new area)

  • 1

EDIT: Deleted my original idea for Seaposts because I realized it was probably not very good in the end. I think the idea below is much better.

Seaposts are really cool locations in the game world and I’d like to seen them utilized a bit more (even beyond cargo runs). I think it would be cool to give them a random supply of a single resource. They could then trade this resource to players for another resource that they are in need of. Example:

"Welcome to Roaring Traders! We've a terrible shortage of bananas right now, but are up to our ears in planks! We'll give you 5 planks for 5 bananas. Is it a deal?"

The resource available at each Seapost could be random (change every day/night cycle), pre-determined (each Seapost always offers the same thing), or even change in real-time based on what players are trading in. If desired, the Seapost could also have a limited stock, so you could only do a set number of trades per day.

    Possible trades:

    • Trade 5 bananas for 5 planks
    • Trade 5 bananas for 10 cannonballs
    • Trade 10 cannonballs for 5 planks
    • Trade 10 cannonballs for 5 bananas
    • Trade 5 planks for 5 bananas
    • Trade 5 planks for 10 cannonballs

This system would make stocking up on supplies a bit easier and consistent, and give Seaposts more of a purpose!

@gonnableedya said in [Mega Thread] Forsaken Shores:

Roaring Traders has 20 bananas in stock for 10g a pop. Once you buy all their bananas, their stock doesn’t refresh till 6am the next day. It’s possible they’ll have bananas again or they might have the following instead...

    • 20 planks (10g each)
    • 40 cannonballs (5g each)
    • 2 cursed cannonballs (25g each)

This would be balanced because the stock would be very limited and you never know what a Seapost is going to be selling. Plus it takes a whole day to refresh. I think this would make visiting Seaposts a lot more fun.

    No, respectfully, no.

@gonnableedya No to the cursed cannonballs but the others I wouldn't mind

This update is absolutely brilliant. I cannot believe how much people are complaining about the best content to come for this game. It is exactly as you’ve described leading up to the release.

    Bravo Rare!

    Don’t change a thing!
