What’s the “main” purpose behind alliances, besides helping each other fight off:

Skeleton Ships

Skeleton Forts

Meg, Quest, etc.

It’s somewhat pointless to some that I’m still getting killed by people in the same alliance, taking the stuff and getting the full price when you get %50 off sort of speak. I think that friendly fire should cease when in a alliance. Call me a “w**s” or “I’m just soft”, but it gets irritating to which you can even enjoy the mission your doing, without out of nowhere, your ship is getting attack by someone in the alliance, takes your stuff DISBANDS THE ALLIANCE and goes away like nothing happens.

I’m telling you my trust issues in this game are well over the limits. I can barley trust that one solo sloop to help me out with something.

Most of the time, especially bigger ships like the Galleon, The crews are constantly changing up. People pop and pop out rather quickly looking to score a ship already loaded with treasure. That same ship that you joined up with may have a completely different crew by the time you meet up again...or at least 1 or 2 new noobs who will open fire at any ship they see.

Unless you don't have any treasure...you should never let another crew onto your ship. People see you have treasure they will plot against you.

Just alliance up and move on. You'll make each other money by doing separate quests in the long run anyways.

Nothing you can change about it.

We as a crew (brig or galleon) don't always join or make an alliance it's just how we feel at the time we are playing. All the farmable content in the game is "soloable" (aka with 1 ship).

So if we do an alliance it's more to help others out, we just do our athena's / forts/ships etc, and we notice no difference exept the occasional coins comming in (we're since 2 weeks all PL on my crew).

Most of the times we just keep the alliance up and don't really care about what the others do, but if they start to annoy us or don't are just leeching we will find and sink them.

I guess it's all about finding friendly faces on the seas and partner up with them (or show enough power so that they may surrender to you).

When I dared to take a closer look, I realized that the galleon was empty - except for a few gunpowder barrels in the crow's nest as well as an offer alliance flag; oh, and someone had left an Athena's voyage on the table. So, I took it upon myself to join the alliance, and "borrow" a few barrels. Unfortunately for me, before I could leave, the ship's open crew started spawning in. I tried to play nice and welcomed them into the alliance, but they wouldn't have it. They attacked me on sight.

It's one thing to not want to be in an alliance, or not want me in it, but all they had to do was leave the alliance, and they could've kept 100% of their loot from the Athena's voyage instead of the 75% for being in the alliance - but they never did. So, I was able to pocket 50% of their wealth and offer them nothing in return (after all, they attacked me, so why should I?).

I can understand why some players do certain things, but other things like this, not so much...

The alliance system is just another tactic to manipulate others into gaining their trust and then turning on them when convenient. Always be vigilant on the sea and trust no one!

But what bothers me is that you cant share the same voyage. Whats the point in making an alliance if we will not play togheter in the same quest?
What if we need help from alliance but theyre too busy getting chickens on the other side of the map?

For me alliance is pointless until they fix this. They have to put a mechanic that makes us sail togheter not only sharing loot

The game is designed with Piracy as the main goal of the game, therefore pirates are going to be pirates and steal your stuff. It’s all part of the game and working as it is intended to work.

The Alliance allows you to team up and share your loot, but if another crew of pirates won’t settle for just 50% of the loot, why not steal it and get 100%? If they leave your alliance, then that is unfortunate, but it’s a game based on piracy, as they say in Pirates of the Caribbean, “Take everything, Give nothing back”, perhaps that is where the other ships in your alliance get their inspiration and play style.
