The Crew of the Foul Grog - the skeletons fought in the first week of the Ancient Isles - uses the Drunkenness Curse, while the Crew of the Cursed Helm uses the Helm-lock Curse, and etc.

Meaning, we can also predict the future curses with some degree of accuracy.

The Crew of the Sandman's Revenge, for instance, I predict will use cannonballs that put the crew to sleep, while the Crew of the Black Viper will likely use cannonballs that poison the crew.

I'm down with all the other proposed curses but ones that completely take away all control just aren't fun. At least when you're drunk you can attempt to bail water

That makes sense, but oh my do I hope the broken leg sound effect isn't present when this occurs. I just may have to play without sound if that is the case.

The Treacherous Bounty = Forces you to hold something, like a chest.

The Enslaving Chain = Anchors your ship

The Sandman's Revenge = Sleep

The Black Viper = Poison

The Siren's Gale = Strong winds blow your ship off course

Those are my guesses.
