We still not know how many active player we have. 1.5m player may not ever sailed, Some players may quit after game pass expired, some may quit after 1 - 2month, some get disappoint from hungering deep and quit after that. We may only have 50 - 100k active players left that mean 10 - 20% can be legends. It is not really rare see legendary pirate anymore. I see them like every day if I log into game.

@mortarchelle Makes perfect sense when you think about it. The game was deemed tedious, repetitive and lacking content early on and some of the player base said "I don't care. I like the game. " Others have moved on and it is only fitting to think that a good portion of that 4 million (Overall) playerbase number is still kicking and raising their factions. I am seriously curious why RARE doesn't release info on their active playerbase, but eh, the game isn't in any real trouble. Cursed sails will make it or break it for a lot of players though.

@katttruewalker Well unfortunately what it meant to be a pirate legend just had the gusto ripped out from under it by the change in commendations. Every tenth of a percentage to that number is a pretty big jump...and it will continue to rise dramatically unless they change the commendations to award something equivalent to the same amount of turn-ins in gold value.

We did an experiment last night and hopped random crews until we found one with a PL on it who was doing a legend voyage. Not only were they attempting to do the voyage even though they were broken, but they had just gotten legendary a week ago. This guy was captain of the ship, and literally was keeping powder kegs in the captain's quarters... this is the type of "legend" that this new set up will breed. I look forward to finding them...sinking them...and taking whatever they happen to be carrying...

Every tenth of a percent that that number goes up means there are more of them to hand me loot.

Well according to the naysayers only .46% of the people who bought the game still play so that’s like a huge amount of Pirate Legends.

Personally I would rather tear my left nut off and eat it then do a ton of merchant quests.

Most legends play several hours per day versus many casual players will put a couple of hours here and then.

Not all non legends are casuals lol. I probably have more play time then some legends, I just chose to spend my time PvPing and exploring instead of grinding way to early and I'm glad I did.

You're an exception. Just because 0,3% of the players are legends and 60% left port, it doesn't mean that out of the 60% who left the port all are regular players, many could have quit the game.

So your stats actually don't mean much, only Rare knows.

I dunno how many Pirate Legends there are.
But I know 4 who didnt manage to rob my non-legend crew of our fort loot last night :)

Over 5,000 pirate legends a month ago, is probable the numbers are accurate.

I don't think we should trust the 4M players Rare always boasts about. Many probably just downloaded Sea of Thieves because it was free on Xbox Gamepass, started it once and then deleted it again. So they should not be counted towards the player base.

A much reliable statistic would be the percentage of pirate legends in some of the big discord communities, where about 5% of the active players seem to have reached pirate legend.

That's interesting, but what's more interesting is the number of Pirate Legends almost doubled since E3 and the first Bilge Rat adventure as I have stated there. I don't think the letters of recommendation are the reason it's increasing a lot these past days.

However, since E3 I saw the percentage increasing by 1% almost each 2 days and now it is taking almost 4 days. So either there is now more than 4,000,000 players or the big wave of new Pirate Legends is ending.

Can't wait to see how it will be before/after Cursed Sails!

I am curious to see what the average number of people playing is now on a daily basis. Last night there should have been plenty of people playing. I was on from 3 pm til 9 pm (us eastern time). With a new event just starting there should have been ships but the servers were not very busy or at least no busier then any other night. I went to 4 different servers and...crickets. Honestly I don't think that many people are playing at least not stateside.

Then why are they in 90% of my games? Next.

And it happens the same there, while we were discussing over the matter it did grow 0.01%. eheh

That's a really low number.
I think it'll raise really fast. Most of my friends on discord have been playing a little less then I have and most of them are now at the 45-50 mark, combined with the writs this will go fast.

It's nice to see how many players have left port, most games have thse little achievements to see how many players actually tried the game as opposed to just starting it up and not playing it. It always amazes me how many people do this.

@katttruewalker how do ye not manage to leave port? lol. That is a staggering number of people who installed the game, picked a pirate, went through the load and then thought 'nah, not for me' an' closed the game. Incredible :)

My first time playing, my buddy and I got killed at the outpost while just trying to learn the ropes.....people trying game pass, could have had a bad experience from the start, or just hated not having character creator...or no tutorial felt lost..I can think of many reasons.
