Speculation: I enjoy the limited time quests that Rare are introducing to this game. However, I do believe that the game could use a core permanent questline. I have mentioned this in a previous discussion post. But I wanted to add the below point as well as the result of adding a questline could help everyone all around. My understanding is that in order for Rare to work on more projects at a time, they would need to have additional 'teams' or people working for them (since nobody expects the current team should need to work harder than they already are). This means, in order for more content to be added faster, and fixes, and QoL improvements to be made, Rare will need to continue to generate more revenue. I am all for this as I want to see items mentioned in these threads added sooner rather than later. This leads me to the second point.
Future Revenue Stream: In order for Rare to draw in more players, there needs to be something substantial to the base game to give new players something else to do. Current players will have something to come back to, Bilge Rat Adventures/seasonal limited time quests, etc. The problem is that when new players join, many things may be repetitive. And while over time, I can say I enjoy different quests that the game has and different experiences, none of the new players will be able to enjoy any of those limited time quests and adventures. It just feels like I am misguiding any of my friends who I encourage to buy the game because I say, 'oh yeah theres always new stuff to do and a bunch of quests they keep adding' but for new players, that is absolutely not true. Again, I love the limited time quests. But I really think that Rare needs to get some sort of quest line in there for everyone to play at least once (besides just leveling up to 50 in all guilds). This will give new players something to enjoy and move towards finishing initially when they join the game. And also something I can say, 'yes buy the game, the quest line is awesome, and Rare are also adding new stuff all the time'.
I believe this will sell the game quicker, thus giving the Devs the ability to start focusing on other aspects as mentioned above. Let me know your thoughts,
