That is exactly what I'm doing with The Captain's Quarters. I started doing it with the Skeleton Thrones and my plan has been to cover every new content update after that. I cover the Skeleton Thrones over here and the most recent one is the Gunpowder Skeletons which I cover right here.

I really like writing them and so far they are well received. Because of that I've been thinking about making it a weekly thing and get more content going. So I had a talk with Katt about this, who encouraged me to do it.

If I can get more hands on deck to provide me with info of stuff that is going on, I'll make a selection that is interesting to cover. Fully objective of course.

I've already started writing a piece for this week, due on Friday, where I'll be looking at some of the different ideas that have been floating around the forums these past 2-3 weeks that I personally think really stand out and could provide some great chances for this game.

@murkrage I'd be happy with that - cheers! I don't think we could really take over the Pirate Times brand without some sort of mandate from Rare.

I'd still like to explore the possibility of something a bit more regular too though, if possible... a weekly perhaps? Just a roundup of new gameplay elements, rumours, stories and pictures... but all 'in-universe' of course...

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring for helping to make this happen! I'm not sure exactly how - I had a quick fiddle with some website-creation and very simple screenshot ageing today, but I'm laughably out of my depth, and while I believe in learning by fiddling, I think my inefficiency would be too much of an obstacle.

I have worked as a project manager in publishing for 20 years though, so I have some editorial skills, and I'm used to pulling stuff together from a team of experts... I can't promise I have a lot of spare time, but I do have some enthusiasm...

As for the name, I would gladly make this a monthly thing with 'The Captain's Quarters' because I agree that we shouldn't let it be confused with the actual Pirate Times.

Let me know how you guys feel about that :)

@skulliah whoa looks like I’m missing info over here. I’ve heard of the pirate times & vaguely remember hearing about a increase in sharks before the arrival of the hungering one. Thought it was a news letter of some sort? Where exactly do you buy this in game???

Well I agree to fit the era of the game but if players took some great screenshots to illustrate their stories, I don't really see the issue for not using them. We could still edit them a bit with Photoshop but I'm down to have drawings, paintings and screenshots :)

I've seen so many awesome screenshots, the community is filled with different artists let's just not limitate the possibilities :)

@skulliah I really understand your point and I'm quite open about it, it needs some testing. Maybe there's a way to give pictures a kind of vintage style (perhaps turning them in black and white and with half tone pattern). I would really like to give the newspaper a old style vibe (1 or 2 colours maximum).

@skulliah that's what I'd do as well. Take the screenshot and age it with PS.

And about the name, i'd say let's change it to something else, so there's no confusion.

@egan-xp4 I guess that we need first to gather all the people willing to work on this project then we could determine an editorial line, think about the restraints of the design (how many pages, the size of it, printable?, where would it be published? and how?, type of pictures, typographies, etc) assign tasks, curate contents (from the forum, reddit, etc) create original contents, etc…
