Cannons are depressingly underpowered in PvP

  • @rumham636 I like this too but I think that strategy is much more susceptible to hackers.

    Cannons suck right now
    I would love to take part in more ship-to-ship cannon-based naval battles
    Currently it's always faster, simpler, less risky, and more efficient to attempt to board or use powder barrels to sink enemies
    Cannons only ever seem to serve as distractions. They force crew members to go downstairs to repair and bail water, leaving no one topside to guard ladders or watch ahead for barrels.
    I cannot even remember the last time I have sank a ship using only cannons
    This is something that's actually troubled me a lot but I can't quite figure a 100% foolproof plan to fix it
    Maybe hitting a spot with a cannonball that already has a hole places a hole in an adjacent section that is undamaged?
    Maybe make cannons more... uh... intuitive to fire? A lot of times they seem to take unique trajectories that can't be accounted for
    Maybe give them a slightly wider turning radius or a sensitivity slider like for the guns?
