Long story short, we were up against pirate legends, they sunk our ship but before we died I took the key and swam far far away and dropped it at the bottom of the ocean in the middle of nowhere. They were searching on the island for the key forever, and we went back multiple times to see if they found it knowing it was at the bottom of the sea. Eventually we went back and they had the door open and the loot gone. My question is how in the hell did they get the key and does it respawn if it's gone?

As far as i'm aware the key will float to the surface just like a chest would, so it probably surfaced & they saw the glow.@logansdadtoo I doubt it because the key was glitched where I couldn't grab it anymore and it was deep when it was stuck
