When you get to to the end you get a Chest of Legends.

That is a very boring and bad design choice. Who wants to play for 4 hours to get a chest to get rep for a faction the same way you did for 50 levels for the other 3 factions?

Instead Athena's Fortune needs an overhaul with a game update focused on it, large content drop/changes. I propose the following:

Pirate Legend quests are unique and not like the other faction quests whatsoever. They provide new gameplay and ways to interact with the world. Real endgame quests. Now you might be thinking why limit new quests to Pirate Legend when the grind to get there many find boring/tedious already? That should be the focus of another update in addition to this one improving Pirate Legend quests to be meaningful and rewarding. You should be able to hop and play for how long you like and still make progress in Athena's Fortune.

Some possible quest ideas:

Pirate Lord wants you to retrieve a powerful "relic" of mythology (Trident of Posiden/something else), it can not be found on any known map. Hidden Islands come into play here, 1 of 3 when you arrive triggers a public event with Mermaids/ancients, new combat where you can you use the relic against them/battle and return it to the Mysterious strange for rewards/rep.

Escort the Ferry, you have been tasked to escort the Ferry from the bottom of the map to the top, Worlds End. Ferry emerges from the depths and you have to protect it from other players/Kraken the new sea monsters/new hostile Skeleton ships.

Real Kraken Battle, If you go to these coordinates the Kraken immediately spawns and the difficulty of the fight is 3x harder than normal.

Shark Hunting, Kill sharks to collect a new item; Shark Skin, collect 10 or so Skins and return them to the Mysterious Stranger for a reward.

There are many more possible unique quests, but I feel 3-4 would be good to start.

I already killed full crews of console players myself alone, its really easy. There are some realllyy good console players but they are 1 in 1000. Gamepads are really good for racing games, but they are plain horrible for FPS games, that's why a lot of games in console have aim assist, a thing you almost never see in a PC game.

I decided to download SoT on my PC and give it a try after seeing how many people were complaining about cross-play, and I have to say there are some definite truths to PC having an advantage. I’ve played on the Xbox for probably 100-150 hours since launch, and have only played on PC for about 10-15 hours, but here’s what I’ve noticed so far.

First, I think Console players should have kB/m support without a doubt. The ability to aim a weapon on the PC is insane compared to Xbox. I’m able to pop shots at people with extreme accuracy that I just couldn’t do on console from the same distances and the ADS speed is insane. When fighting with swords in close combat you can 180° in mid air and change directions to flank your opponent.

The ability to free look around when doing various activities such as climbing a ladder, pulling anchor, pulling sails, etc.

The ability to hot key literally every single item for quick access (no more using the wheel at all).

The ability to hear in-game chat, while being in a private party and switching between the two with a press of a button.

The ability to turn 180° in the blink of an eye to target an enemy and fire your weapon in a second or two.

Increased FPS making the game feel smoother.

Zooming around the map in a blink of an eye and selecting all desired locations/islands.

Selecting weapons from the armory quicker. (no bumpers, all mouse).

Using gaming monitors to have a dedicated crosshair on your screen for hipfire accuracy.

The ability to use full text chat as another forum of communication.

The ability to quickly turn nearly 90° during a sword charge to attack an opponent on your left or right.

The ability to “on the fly” adjust your mouse sensitivity to drastically increase your aiming speeds with weapons, including the Eye of Reach.

The ability (can’t prove myself) to respawn faster after exiting the Ferry of the Damned vs console players and some PC players. (Hardware dependent).

So far the ONLY downside I’ve seen using the telescope feels pretty slow / not as smooth as the console. I will also admit I have not tried the Eye of Reach so I have no opinion on that.
-Adjusted the above text to reflect using “on the fly” DPI changes in mouse sensitivity to increase those aiming speeds.

Overall, I feel like I can do quite a bit more on PC vs Xbox which is a bit of a shame. I enjoy playing on the Xbox as the game in 4k HDR on a MUCH larger screen is just down right beautiful. Now, I don’t think that the PC players should be limited in these options / mechanics, but I do think the console players could use a little boost to try and get up to the same level as PC players in some of these areas.

Just my thoughts on the subject.

I feel what will end this pointless argument is to just enable keyboard and mouse. That way if xbox people complain saying there is an advantage on pc because controls and are choosing not to use a mouse? Tough they made that decision themselves at that point. Some of those are a bit on the edge of an advantage most are still just QOL improvements.

These impatient kids need to slow their roll. Rare knows what it needs to work on, all of these "what SoT needs" posts aren't helping anything and if anything, they are actually slowing Rare down... Plans have already had to be changed due to overzealous "feedback". I get that you fellas want to help grow the game but y'all really need to try to understand it takes time to build good content.

Thanks for coming here and calling people who post constructive feedback “kids”. Looks like we got a real tough internet guy here.

Rare has asked for feedback on the forums, they can read and implement changes that they see fit. No where is this topic demanding for immediate changes. The goal for this topic was to provide feedback for future updates down the road regarding Athena’s Fortune, no different then the requests for the other 3 faction improvements that have been posted about frequently.

I think the intention behind making the Athena voyages consist of all the other types of voyages was to make it to were pirate legends would help guide other non-pirate legends into the legend status. Its the only thing that makes sense because in rares minds the thought of people grinding to pirate legend withing the first month wasn't a thing.

I personally like the way it is now, but that may just be the inner Sherpa in me. I love helping players through their journey once mine is complete, sorta extends the experience and with the Athena voyages not only can i help others but at the end it helps me a little too.

That is an interesting point. But you could also argue that you could do that anyway in addition to new quests, help Sherpa players with the regular voyages. It would be more exciting if you drop a quest and they are shocked by new quest types that they have never done. Much more fun and interesting.

I understand your points and your suggestion might add some variation to the game. I don't see any reason to implement something specifically for the top 1% of players that raced to reach the "end of the game" any time soon though. People that consume content in such a way will be hard to satisfy and it's not the core group of players playing your game.

I would much rather see Rare invest in content that everyone can immediately enjoy instead of only the people that rushed through the other content. I'm sure that Pirate Legend content will get additional content over the coming months though.

I googled it, that claim of 100,000 members does not appear to be referencing the amount of people who have downloaded hacks for sea of thieves, its looks more like a general membership number for that particular site, in any case, its not exactly a trustworthy number, either in general or to be relying on when trying to convince others that half of the SoT PC player population are cheating, you might as well just pluck some numbers out of thin air, it would have just as much credibility.

His post above tells it all: "I win most of the time when it's a fair fight" - paraphrasing.

But I guess they're cheating cause I'm on PC and half the people on xbox are cheaters.

I can tell when Someone is a pc player. It’s also really easy to tell when they are cheating. Like when one pc player gets shot by three of us at a skull fort with the blunderbuss at the same time and doesn’t die and kills all four of us without ever eating a banana. Or when people disappear with a powder keg in hand and turn up on your ship and sink it. That’s cheating. Also the blunderbuss shots were before they nerfed them and we were all in close range. Point is I have ran across a cheater at least every weekend since launch.

Well agree to disagree, People miss and latency plays a big part of it as well. I don't think there is a huge cheating problem but just xbox players blaming pc for shortcomings. It's insulting to pc players that are good to be constantly hackused, Although I personally do smile when someone messages me that i just killed calling me a hacker.

If you google sea of thieves hacks the first site has a number of downloads from members it says over 100,000 members downloaded the cheat for the game. That’s just the first site so I’m sure at least half of the pc players on this game are cheating. I have played with a few pc players on my ship and they don’t cheat although they do have a slight advantage over Xbox players but I can usually beat most players I come across and when it’s a fair fight and I do loose I’m ok with it because I usually learn something new or develop new tactics on how to play better.

Let's see the numbers. Can you provide them for us or are you just going to make more stuff up? Also why put in all that extra work for ships and the map, when it's obvious you are quitting soon, due to the fact that you are not very good?
