There has been loads of suggestions based on sea bosses which is awesome,sea of thieves has such a creative community.
I would like to suggest maybe certain bosses for different islands to mix things up a bit.
I have seen lots of paintings and such on my travels in sea of thieves dotted on islands like the kraken and ones that look like giant birds.
What if there actually was an island with a giant bird flying around its peak which would drop a certain artifact that could be cashed in for gold ,what if on an island with a lot of underwater fauna there was a giant crab or an island with a lost civilization or tribe ,these islands have been Taylor made and are beautiful yet lack any actual story (apart from the occasional skeleton remains or shrine).
I feel it would add depth if there was specific AI on certain islands .Who knows maybe you could create a faction to specifically hunt these mobs.

@snags-ak-hunt Bosses and more variety of enemies is exactly what I want. Maybe create a Monster Hunter faction.

Travelling around the various Ancient Isles and seeing the paintings, it would be amazing to come across the ghostly remnants of the Boar worshipped, or the huge bird... the fish in the waters, Snake god etc. Recreating a time that is long gone perhaps or even being an adversary to defeat at times.
Perhaps sometimes they might be spouting riddles or lore, sometimes aggressive, I think it would be great to have a variety of encounters.

Oh man that would be so cool if riddle paintings spawned legendary critters!

@katttruewalker I think that riddles would be an awesome idea to be able to implement larger mobs into the game ,they could be used to summon mobs when the destination is reached.
Crews would be able to gather supplies and make strategies before encountering the mobs ,also it would prevent players from camping around islands waiting for timed spawns.
