We should be celebrating the downfall of the game. Keep it up developers and the community, you're doing wonders. We had a game that broke records and has dropped probably the fastest I've ever seen.

This seems to be one of those "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situations.

Sure Rare could have published every iota of detail about what they plan to put into the game. Every last bit of it. You'd still get people unhappy about what actually makes it into the game. You'd still get people unhappy because feature X didn't make it on to the road map. Then when something promised doesn't make it into the game, people will still be unhappy about it even if they communicated about the cut beforehand.

Then you have everyone that is making suggestions to the game faster than what could ever possibly be implemented. How are you supposed to maintain a coherent roadmap to accommodate those requests when it is part of your development ethos?

Or conversely, if Rare never said anything about a roadmap or what they plan to do, you have people who are unhappy and saying Rare doesn't listen. Or people unhappy and saying the game is abandonware. People would complain that they are too secretive.

What is a developer to do? People will still be unhappy no matter what they do. No matter what decision is made, there will be dissatisfied customers. Rare did what they thought would satisfy the most. They will always do that for their development decisions. After all, they have been more about the "show and don't tell" for Sea of Thieves.

It isn't the end of the world when they don't cater to your wishes.

A Lot of folks looking forward. New content is coming, & it will be great to see it. Sometimes its better to reserve judgement.
A little more patience doesn't go a miss, I believe the guys at Rare probably care more about "their baby" than they are given credit for. This one, won't be for the rocks....

@trenix90 Well they actually did tell us quite a bit. I would like you to give me 3 examples of any other game company that has done even close to what Rare has done with staying in contact with the community at large. You do realize every single game in existence will drop about half its player base in the first month. That is just how it goes. Also not everyone has to like the game, I totally agree with that. For you to say:

Well they are not doing 4 man sloops anymore. They are making us a new ship lol. They also were going to do a death cost but lo and behold they listened to the community and DIDN'T put it in the game. In all seriousness do YOU even know what a roadmap is. Why do they have to be exact about every single feature in these upcoming update..

New ai threat - hungering deep - talk about exploring underwater = merfolk
skeleton thrones, cursed cannon balls, new ship, new islands. added RNG loot locations for all secret places. They also talked about a c**p load more. I don't think you even read or looked at the video. I feel like you read the title and then came here to complain and talk out of your a*s about things you obviously have no idea about.

You do realize rare/microsoft will give you a full refund if you are this disatisfied with the service. Sorry that all content will be free. Sorry they added this triple A title to the gamepass so it was more accessible. Sorry that that listened to the community and have come out with weekly updates. Also most of these updates are what people asked for most in the game.

I don't really know why i am taking the time to write this I know for a fact you probably wont read it or just wont understand where I am coming from and you will probably insult me like you did Rare because you have no actual intelligent debate as to why the roadmap was "useless".

I for one am super stoked on this information and hope all of you are as well!

@trenix90 Dude just give up on this game... I've got the refund after getting sick from errors / glitches / missing content and so on. Worst of all is this community that is so blind that it pains me.
All talking how that road map shouldn't be specific blah blah... You like surprises? How about those that you received so far #pirateLegend *cough *cough. This game is a milestone in a bad way like NMS. 3 months for content? Nice idea.. I would like to see those white knights still doing the same quests for 3 months until their brain melt.
If Rare wanted us to wait 3 months for additional content then they should have provided enough content to keep us interested in the game meanwhile. In summary .. 2 ships / 3 quests / a bunch of cosmetics / 2 type of enemies (if sharks count) / unbalanced PVP / nice water and visuals. That is your game. The hype around this game is dead.. Nobody talks about it or if they do it is in a bad way. Call me hater... I am just saying the facts. I will come back after 3 months when this game will be worth money. Around 15 Euros.

Unfinished Islands, Forts that never activate, gunpowder barrels stuck in irretrievable places, The Kracken showing up halfway stuck in an island, unable to access items unlocked at certain levels (looking at you guild specific pants at lvl 33)
Chests that say "no_name" and can't be picked up. Getting kicked from the server with a load of treasure...

Well thats just your opinion. I think you were proved wrong. And thats just my opinion. But I'm not going to bore you with why my opinion is so much better than yours because it just isn't. However I will say this. Every time i play this game, i meet players who are having an amazing time, who play the game for what it is. Hell, even those who would rather see us dead and our loot stolen are in high spirits on the ferry of the damned, although some people I've met could be nicer, but I did shoot them, so it;s understandable. Regardless, these players are all enjoying the base game and are eagerly but patiently waiting for the weekly events and bigger updates. So if you leave the game, that's okay. But I think I'll stay a little while longer.

Weird, I knew before the roadmap was released that ppl gonna take a p**s at it.

You guys realize that all the secretive not being specific is part of the game, right?! It's a game about pirates, rumors, myths, legends, all in the piraty spirit of treasure hunting and not really knowing whats coming, not really knowing, does this map lead to treasure or are we wasting our time just to dig up a castaway chest?!

Some ppl dont get that, and then they start complaining. They have no imagination and are soulless hulls in the mortal realm, no life, no spirit, no imagination, no joy. I take pitty on those empty vessels but have to admit, they are beyond our reach. Noone can help them, we have to hand em over to the ocean where they will rage as angry forum trolls and haunt the living. Only once the game is dead, the devs are shamed they will find peace, cause thats the only thing their broken bodies care for. Tragic. Tragic...

I dare Rare to provide that information, you know they wont. But Twitch is a good indicator of how popular games are. Also I hope one day you grow up. You seem to think that a customer doesn't need to know what they're paying for.

No game ever gives all the details in a roadmap. The roadmap simply explains their plans for when content will be coming. Their roadmap actually gave a lot more information than most games. You can expect more detailed information and teaser trailers as each major update gets closer. That's always how it works.

You do realize that Rare gave us the game they promised at launch. Yes there were server issues and some needed changes to Respawn. But as for what they talked about giving us at launch, they did that. In fact if you played the alpha and beta, then the game when it launched, you got a nice surprise of new features that were not in the alpha and beta.
I am sorry that you are upset with Rare, I know a lot of people in the forums have expressed their grief with the game. But as for a roadmap, this is a roadmap. Developers tend to release a couple Vids explaining the roadmap. I am sure this was the first that talked about the content plans for the next few months. We will probably get another video explaining the "Hungering of the Deep" content.

Again, I am sorry you feel this way and I hope you come back to the seas and pirate it up.

I'm starting to think the nonstop idiotic complaints are coming from jelous Sony Fanboys... Non of these complaints even sound like they come from gamers. They sound like they are coming from people who pretend to play videogames (I know it sounds mad) but how else do you explain this?

The true problem of the lack of content is the lack of dynamism, in a game such as this, dynamism is extremely important. They create a fake sense of progression, they create a fake sense of rewarding, this is not a competitive game neither it is a RPG, but still it progresses horizontaly and is about exploring. Confusing and contraditory.

And yes, it really feels like they are "...the equivalent of a scammer taking advantage of people who don't know better."

What people don't seem to be taking into consideration is that Microsoft could have (more than likely) pressed them to release the game before it was ready, as a lineup for Game Pass.
Rare has always been a fantastic company, and while I undoubtedly LOVE SoT and have yet to get bored of it, it could definitely have more content to it. As one of the best studios in the world, my wager is it's not on them that the game released without more than there is now to do in the game.
