4th Faction: PVP Quests aka. COPS vs OUTLAWS

  • Easiest way to add interesting content would be adding a 4th faction, british soldiers aka. cops that sell quests specificly for PvP like "kill 10 pirates/1 Galleon/1 Sloop".

    As soon a crew starts a soldier quest their clothing and ship design turns into a specific british soldier "skin" and they are in "cop mode". Very slowly their supplies stack up themselves magicly and a few chests of gold and other treasure the cops cant pick up spawn on their ship. They ally up with other crews currently in cop mode and get hints on their main map where pirates has been seen 5 minutes before. (Leaving cop mode back into pirate mode is a 5 minute timer of not shooting or getting hit by cannonballs, ship supplies go down to spawn-amount and cop treasure despawns. Cop treasure that originally came out of crew X cant be cashed in by crew X. It is not possible for a crew to become cops if too many crews are already and the 30/50% (?) mark would flip.)

    The Point of all this is following:
    Open world PvP would have a point, a target, a reward as much as for the crews playing cop as for the pirates defeating cop crews. Very dynamic open world sea battles should become more common.

  • I had a very similar idea. All players have a bounty associated with them for number of kills (25 gold each) and ships sunk (50 gold each). The players currently playing on your server are listed at a bounty board next to a Royal Fleet officer. The officer can hand you generic quests like sink this many pirate ship or kill this many pirates.

  • I don't agree with the forced ship cosmetics or getting magical resources. This would throw off the current supply gathering mechanic and act too much like a buff for my tastes
