    Open-World Dungeons

    Original idea:

Following to the Skeleton Forts raid, here's an idea of open-world dungeons.

We can, for example, imagine finding these dungeons on different islands. Some might be accessible from the outside, others could be hidden under water. The fact is that you would have to explore a large system of caves with various scenery, such as a shipwreck cemetery or smuggler's hangout, by confronting hordes of monsters on the way, but also by solving riddles like lighting up torches in the good order based on a wall painting to open a secret door, or puzzle jumps, until you get to a final room with a boss.

One thing I hate with dungeons in most of the games is that usually it stops there. You just go outside and it's done. So why not change the rules a little with an earthquake that causes the cave to slowly collapse, or a flood, which would occur following to this victory, obliging you to hastily take some chests and escape before the cave closes, causing you yo die in it. There would be so many treasures that it would be fun to be forced to choose only few of them into panic, and of course coming back for more would be almost suicidal.

What would be fun would be first to find it by exploring the islands, because they might not all be open simultaneously. An abnormal enemy activity on the outside might hint that the dungeon is open, for example. Obviously, there would be the dungeon itself, of course, as doing this with friend could be a real blast. And then there would still be this very SOT-like idea of venturing without "privatizing" the dungeon, with the risk of being discovered and perhaps even attacked, as anyone could see your ship outside and guess that you are in the dungeon, then decide to enter it too.

    Suggested features:

    • Open-world dungeons (no instance, everyone can enter it anytime)
    • Visual hint of active dungeons (an enemy watching from the beach)
    • Multiple themes (smuggler hideouts, underwater caves, ancient temple...)
    • Various challenges (riddles, puzzle jumps, maze, ...)
    • Rope climbing/swinging
    • Procedural riddles/corridors/room generation (nice to have, but maybe too much)
    • Collapsing cave after boss victory (a dungeon don't just end with the boss)
    • "Cheers" action on right click with tankard :P

  • @thejolirouge like these. Love the chears emote!!!

  • Obviously not a trivial set of features to slip into the existing game, but I hope they consider some of these more ambitious concepts. They need more random things to do like this everywhere they can think of them. Cheers!

  • Yes please , great ideas
