THIS is Why You DON'T Want Safe Zones.... (VIDEO)

  • With so much argument about Safe Zones, Grievng, PVE Servers and the like.. I have an argument that proves why WE SHOULD NOT have safe zones. This does require a little backstory however...

Tonight I wanted to play Sea of Thieves, but I really didn't want to do any of the voyages because let's be frank.. sometimes they are indeed kind of boring if you're solo and actually you carry a heavy risk doing voyages by yourself. How disappointing would if be if you're preoccupied in the island and you have 3/4 skulls and then someone sinks your ship.. takes your stuff... and well thats a whole lot of time wasted... Oh but Gem! You can't play this game alone!!! HA!!

So what does a pirate do solo when he doesn't want to voyage. Well my friend... you be a freaking pirate (I would say the actual word but I'll get censored so whatever)... I decided I will go BY MYSELF (I was also feeling anti-social) and challenge others and see if MAYBE I can jack their hard earned treasure.. like suckers...

So I thought to myself... how will I find someone to hi jack... then I saw the ultimate sign... A SKULL IN THE SKY!!! I knew someone was bound to go there... When I struggled past the storm with thunder almost sinking my ship I finally made it. I saw one small ship but... it passed on by and I wondered why... Well because right before me was a GALLEON at the other side of the Fort... they just finished doing their raid and as I got close to see how I can maybe take something for meself... They put plenty of holes on my ship and so I drove it around... crashed into the island and had a small fight which... I lost...

That's okay.. the beauty of this game is.. it ENCOURAGES conflict... How will I get my revenge... and once again the game does something I love... it spawns your new ship and you in an island NOT TOO FAR from where you fell. Also, didn't hurt that I found a skull on the island and well... hello Order of Souls points with no voyage required...

    and now the video...

(WARNING SOME "FOUL" LANGUAGE IS EXPECTED HERE..OKAY FINE LOTS...)

As the title suggested... I did fail.. but as you learned from the video.. I had a chance at achieving something meaningful without having to do anything.... And quite frankly it was due to my own stupidity that I failed. All it took was a little more health and a few steps pressing F in order for me to gain something...

You see guys.... I had nothing to lose and everything to gain when I had nothing on me. SO I pursued a FULL 4 MAN CREW and almost exploited them. 1v4. Meanwhile others complain about being the victim when you can be the predator. Sure.. some people might stand now to say to you.. what about me.. on and island by myself and they keep killing me at the same island to take me gold... Buddy, my friend, you're working too hard. Be a freaking pirate. Also, if someone is exploiting you in a way that is way too frustrating like camping at an island and killing you over and over again as you spawn..then just leave that server... i know its not the best solution.. but the main ingredient in this game is MEANING...

When people say that PvP has no meaning... B.S.!! (I mean I'm sure they could add more) I almost brought some meaning by showing a 4 man crew that a solo player just played them. Sure it wasn't ALL their loot but it was something... THAT was my meaning. Being a freaking pirate. Others are grieving you? Go to another server, now YOU'VE taken their meaning away.

Understand that everything is EVEN here. You hide well in a Outpost waiting for a 4 man crew to get close to turning in their stuff. I GUARANTEE YOU... in some way or another..you're going to get something out of it. This is why the game has no Safe Zone... because even YOU a Solo player.. can get YOUR revenge. Had I been a bit smarter (sorry not always a requirement), imagine how I would have made that 4 man crew feel when the small ship guy they blew away at a Skull Fort got his revenge by simply killing one of their men and stealing one of their treasure. Then imagine the lather... You get to an island and you're forced to watch the fools turn in their treasure while they laugh at you and you can't do a damn thing about it...

    Moral of the story...

    BE A FREAKING PIRATE!!!

  • On the contrary.. here's an actual success story..

  • Hey a I found a griefer in the forums

  • @confusedgamer99 I see no problem with an empty ship attacking another in the hopes of gaining loot. This is called being a pirate.

Now, unlike the OP, I don't like how close people spawn. Maybe on the first respawn so they can have a second chance but not beyond that. Abusing this mechanic to constantly go after a ship is griefing. Spawn camping people on their boat is griefing.

To me, it doesn't sound like OP did either of those things. He tried 2 times.

  • I do this almost once a day with success lol...Gunpowder spawns almost infinitely on the forts. You get one of those gunpowders, sneak it into the bottom of their ship. Wait for them to clear captain. and boom bam pow them

Oh yeah 1v4! I'm such a griefer. You apparently didn't read where a whole galleon took down my tiny ship when I got to the Skull Fort right? Brother... sit TF down.

I can agree with this, but keep in mind. It was also 1v4. I was at a major disadvantage. But I can agree that at some point it can be ridiculous especially if it was at the opposite end where a Galleon is chasing my tiny ship instead. But there was meaning here... we were after the loot. I wasn't just trying to screw them over for nothing. I just wanted my treasure.. once I saw that there was nothing I can do with getting the treasure... well then its a wrap.

Unfortunately I couldn't pull this off. I didn't have the opportunity to go down to the island to get gun powder I already knew they were on the way to the outpost.
