Too much complaining we need more ideas! I will start.

  • @floppy-peener yep I know, this is not the first time I made a suggestion like this about rep. I fully understand that people don't want long term consequences to their actions. In term this gives the more scrupulous pirates the advantage always. Lol, at the single crew choice and having to pay for your previous devious behavior.

Furthermore, the game already calculates distances. It knows who fires first. Determing defensive vs offensive is not very hard. Plus if someone with the white flag (good pirate) attacks you he would be on his way to being noticeable as a evil pirate. So it would limit the times he could stab another player in the back.

also its not overcomplicated whatsoever in my opinion, if you choose to attack everyone on sight for absolutely no reason and then in turn you become the victim you so choose to harass in the first place...That's kharma!

anyways its just an idea, something needs to be done to balance pvpve out, as of now only albion online has implemented a system that does it. Then again games like albion online have a system in place like that that works well. It is the only pvpve game out there that I know of that the rep system punishes gankers, griefers, etc.....and it works just fine! Mind you though, that's a loot everything on you type of game with safe areas and huge non safe areas. hehe, the gankers with bad rep can't even go into towns that people with good rep can. Also its permanent, but can be altered by good behavior!

  • @grayman-666 love the idea of shipwreck missions. I would probably spend entire days of real life just doing exclusively shipwreck missions, I love those barnacle covered treasure chests and an occasional skull or box of linens.

  • @jumpiestdust213 determining the offender is more complicated than that. what if I happen to, on accident, shoot a friendly vessel, who is then sunk? On the other side, what if my crew and I are destroying a ship, only for a different vessel to get the kill? What if the first shot is a miss?

  • @neuros1s said in Too much complaining we need more ideas! I will start.:

@savagetwinky anyone that played a raid and got all of their gear done typically doesn't do the raid again. And you're also giving progression to your own statement that taking your acquired gear to the pvp realm is also another progression. So therefore you're playing the game to just play....but you're still progressing my dude. My whole point was a progression system void of character progression.

People raided on a regular basis even when geared, and they used it in PVP because it was OP and unfair, it was a terrible system and no longer exists, and its entirely segregated to different progressions. For me none of which are fun the fact that they designed it so you COULDN'T win until you got enough loot to survive bosses. I don't see that as fun or rewarding when the game allows you to continue progress.

You want to PvP in WoW today? Prepare for a spanking because you'll have to lose until you have enough gear to win. Want to enjoy some raid bosses? Prepare to lose until you have enough gear to win.

What do you do after that? You keep pvping on equal terms. For $15/month you can waste thousands of hours to get to a point you could have just had if you just picked up dota or diablo...
I do like the story structure, but to say is any of that gameplay compelling? No its boring as s**t, press 2, 2, 2, 2. So I see SoT as a game with actually ENGAGING and unique game play that lets you go toe to toe with any one on the server without having to earn the "privilege" to win.

Some people want tons of content to chew through, others like me just want compelling and
engaging gameplay without all the time sinks.

  • @floppy-peener I never stated that being a pirate would even cause you to go into the red, only repetitive behaviors....so yes any pirate could still attack any other pirate at anytime. its not hard to log activity and see repetitive behavior. I would make it hard to become a "evil" pirate which would also mean, on occasions you could sink whom ever you want, with out any recourse to your reputation. In my opinion, only repetitive behavior could cause you to become "Evil"! The game could even give you clues like playing a song that's dreadful in nature when you randomly kill a sloop with no loot for the shear fun of it, not profit! Then in say whatever minutes it plays another song to your crew or some kind of que letting you know that know recourse to your rep would occur if you try killing again. They could surely keep some kind of notification system so you can control "accidents".

and another thing, if you successfully conquer another pirate and get "booty" I wouldn't suggest having bad rep because your pirated someone in a pirate game. but there needs to be some kind of indicator in my opinion that I can determine your play style from a distance and react in turn.

lol though, this game wont ever do anything like that so don't worry if your not likeing my idea. Though having a rep system can bring another level of complexity to the reward system as well, this doesn't have to be just a punishment system. it could be a reward system on top of that.

  • @jumpiestdust213 btw I'm going to play some state of decay now, my tv shows are over and its time to game a little! thanx for the conversation, if you are replying to my previous comment I'll check back later and see...have a good day! happy pirating or whatever!

  • @mri1ama need ability to queue and sail galleon alone there's idea write that down

  • I see a lot of good ideas here and I can't make a successful thread, but I made a Google Doc if any of y'all would care to contribute

    https://docs.google.com/document/d/1aGsO8Vw5nmRtGqTMOiDDRCMYE2ZmmBBUQaUf8bGzc_0/edit?usp=sharing

  • we need pets! I would like to have a black cat my idea for pets are parrots monkeys cats pigs snakes and chicken and when you buy a pet from the sea of thieves web you go to the merchant alince and then they say we have a present and you take it but first you will have to redeem the code

  • @savagetwinky I agree with you 100% with that response. I think the bone structure of the game is what the gaming community needs. They definitely need to fill their world with more enjoyable things. You on xbox? I'll sail the seas with you anyday. 🖒

  • no pc you can still sail with me tho

  • also I think the pets should be 5 to 8 dollers

  • they should also add a baby kracken

  • I'm sorry to anyone who disagrees, but this post is what the majority of players feel is needed. Regardless of the numbskulls who don't want the game to change at all so they can farm PVE players.

But when I get to a Skull fort with my team and we sink 3 ships and the first ship we sunk is back by the time we sink the 3rd.... That's outrageous. The skull fort basically goes to whoever wastes the most time doing it or whoever sinks the people who put in the effort doing it. Fix this POS respawn system.

  • @mri1ama

    1. Tortuga-like pirate capital with non-combat zone (aggression leads to jail) that has:
    • transserver auction house with uncommon customization lots which cannot be bought and can only be found
    • minigames (cards, dices, drinking and shooting contests or something like that)
    • group transserver PVE INSTANCE that would work properly with crews teamed up against NPC ships or fort or both. With no other players able to join.
    • transserver 1v1/2v2 /3v3/2v2v2 PVP instance
    1. Sea creatures:
    • octopuses or squids: blind with ink and control with tentacles. more CC than DD
    • medusae: small aoe spots
    • crabs: seashore and underwater analogues of snakes in terms of danger (can make you limp for instance)
    • more shark types
    • megalodon: giant tanky shark that can follow, slow and damage ships
    1. Resources such as cannonballs, planks and bananas should drop from ships that just sank

I think that will do for the first message )

  • @darkesthour138 Bounty should be shared between first 10 DIFFERENT killers, 1 death is too few for this. And this makes an adequate cost. Placing bounties should be really expensive. And as a customization item you can get that pirate's ear or tooth or something like this.

  • @mri1ama I agree, they just need more mechanics/activities that youd want to involve other crews either because its makes it easier or it makes it more fun.
I was thinking they could add games on islands whether its cards at outpost, where you bet your gold or a last pirate standing on thieves haven, winner take the loot.
You could technically orchestrate these games yourself the hard thing is finding a like-minded thats willing to participate. It would be cool if they gave us the tools for us to play games. (Example disable player names so you play hide and seek on random islands with random crewd)

  • @neuros1s said in Too much complaining we need more ideas! I will start.:

On PC, although I don't mind other activities, I just think people shouldn't get their hopes up. Or expect the game to fundamentally change. Activities that allow for player interaction, including the aggressive types, will be shallow and short lived because the a lot of investment in that content would cause a lot of grief... basically PVE needs to be trivial enough that no amount of PVP failure can hurt the experience. I think thats why the voyages are overly simplistic and randomly generated, its enough to give you something to do and acquire chests and ultimately defend against other players.

  • @pokymanx540719 said in Too much complaining we need more ideas! I will start.:

I think the bounty system should be automatic, kind of like the skull forts, as a player initiates fights the ship could slowly develop a red mist around it and eventually becomes a server wide target. And it goes up faster if you gank ships at outposts. Once you become a server target you no longer respawn and drop lootable token that can be taken to any trader for rep, and you'll spawn in a new server after.

  • Not trying to critize or prevent you from giving your feedback but rather to explain why so much complainings without suggestions.

Personally I have many ideas for such a game, but the lack of a roadmap from devs, pretending willing to be "reactive" as the stupendous lack of content certainly work in favour of many people, including me, sitting on their hands mere by ignoring what is the direction to be taken at best, if not by thinking devs don't care much about their game, if not at all about their players.

They pretend to listen to feedbacks to use them building their game, yet apparently many critics from cb have been ignored, and not a single dev take part of discussion to bring hints or comments on what they'd may or may not do. I've seen small indie studio devs way more committed to follow their community though having an actual roadmap.

Those devs are blatant greedy liers trying to take everyone for a fool, while trying hard to outprice their game, they quite remind me the Evolve team : nice graphics, nice gameplay but no ideas nor support thus no content. Game's dead in no time, hence majority of players quite keep standing on the fence in this case for they don't know what to expect, but they've been very disappointed and logically they prepare for the worst.

  • So here are some of my ideas,
1- There should be a pirate captain that spawns (NPC) that has its own boat with its own crew (like a crew of 4 including pirate cap) that would attack you. Sort of like a new PvE thing. When you kill him you can take his loot and the crew mates don’t respawn.
2-More guns like dual wield flint lock pistols (slower reload) ,dual swords (no block)
3- Special islands for crew mates /guilds where they have their own islands where they can build their own bases/pirate coves! And when they’re done building or when they get off for the day, they’re base will be posted to the server. When a crew wants to do a guild battle they set sail to the enemy island to attack the bases. Somewhat as a guild battle Base vs. Base.
4- The Skull cloud in the sky during a storm is a secret map that leads to a skull island, filled with treasure! Follow the cloud along with secret clues around the map to find the continent of loot shrouded in mystery only rumored by the bartenders to exists.
5- Bigger cities like in assassins creed black flag with those big cities.
    6- Third person mode?
7- Old fashion scuba gear in order to go under water and find old sunken ships and take their loot, maybe find underwater caves until you’re attacked by the Kraken! Beware he may be watching in a near by cave looking for curious pirates to snatch up and eat.
8- A smaller boat like a dingy for the bigger ship in order to travel between island to boat faster and to transport loot.

Well this is all of my ideas for right now, I hope you guys like them. Share your ideas and they might get implemented. Later guys. -Bacon

  • Hello guys ! my first post here and it will be a looooooong post are you brave enough to read this :D (I'm sorry in advance if my english is bad)(When you see XXX seconds/meters it mean that community will decide)

I came on lots of topics and i really think about them. And i know ! it's a pirate game ! but pirate have code and keep their word. Here is some ideas, you can tell me your opinion !

    1. The 'safe zone'.

I think it's a good idea to help new player to get use to the game (how to use boat, set graphics, bind etc.) When i say safe zone i think about a big round fort with high walls at the center of the map, with 4 exit (4 cardinals) and tower canon to defend where:

    • You can spawn there every time you join a new server (maybe add a system before set the sail to choose if you want to go there or a random outpost)
    • Once you leave this zone, you can't go back again. Even if you're dead outside while playing you never go back to this place, you're spawning at random place as usual.
    • PvP is prohibited in a radius of XXX meters around the fort (enough to sail out)
    • If someone penetrate in this radius the fort kill them and sink the boat fast.

This will just help beginner and didn't really affect the game (or just a little because you'll need to dodge the fort or you get smashhhhhed)
Here is a picture to put an image in your mind it's childish but easy to understand (Red the radius, yellow canon anti-pvp, black the fort with 4 exit)
    https://ibb.co/dwK0FS

    2- The idea of flag.

The peacefull flag. You can wave it to say that you're not here to fight. It works when when two boat are close to XXX meters from each other. Both side need to show this flag
Then there are two cases possible:

    • You show the peacefull flag and your opponent too. Good, both of you are invulnerable each other to pvp. But be aware it's not permanent ! once you've cross each other after XX seconds or when you've got a distance more than XXX meters between each other, you're invulnerability is gone.
    • You show the peacefull flag and not your opponent. Bad for you, Free PvP just leave as fast as you can.

The trade flag. Same system as the peacefull flag. Except that it has 2 steps.

    • First step, like the peacefull one, show the flags. When it's good, Invulnerability ON.
    • Second step to activate the trade mode, put the boat close to each other.
It will be completly fair and loot will be lock to the team during this. You can't steal it.
    • Trade mode on, you're got 3 zones (Offer, Deal, YARGHH). You put you offer in the offer zone and then you go the Deal/YARGHH zones to complete. If it's a Deal it will swap the loot nor it will cancel the trade.
    • Once the trade is over it's like the peacefull flag, XX seconds or XXX meters to PvP Again
      CAUTION !!!!
People other than traders (like a third sneaky guy hahaha) can interupt the trade by attacking !! Trade will cancel automatically and it's free PvP time for all so run fast hahaha

For the trade system, the idea was to add on the bow's boat (or it could be somewhere else) 3 barrels (3 only ressources) and when a trade is up, lighted zone appear for the trade. Text above traders boat to clearly see what you're trading etc.

Here is an example on a sloop
    https://ibb.co/cZjWpn

    3- NPC's bounty.

I'll not talk about PvP player bounty. Simple, questboard at outpost with high bounty wanted, everyone can take it but once someone achieve it it's over for everybody. Unique NPC's crew roaming around the map, agressive when you're close, you must defeat the captain and take the head to the outpost.
It's almost like skull quest but on the sea (it may be help training some people to fight on the sea)

Like everyone i have tonssss of idea but some of them have already been said i just wanted to improve those ! :)

Thanks you for reading if you come this far :p !

  • Would probably never happen but being able to form fleets. Like you could team up with people and reap rewards from others. It would also make it better because fleets could join each others servers and raid skeleton forts more efficiently. I feel like there'd be a set number of players, like 20 or something players that could be in tons of sloops or 5 full galleons or somewhere in between. Once again probably wouldn't happen but I think it would be cool to have fleets of people with one main captain. My main problem with it is fleets griefing solo players.

  • There has been lots of ideas lol but anyway I think they need to add some cpu ships maybe 2-4 each server and these need to be navy ships that hunt pirates.

I also think if a player is on your ship and is killed you should be able to vote to capture him and put him in your jail cell and when you either die or your ship sinks he is released or maybe he has a time limit in your ship cell lol this way when a fight is 1-4 and you kill 1-2 of them this takes them out of the fight for a little while giving you better odds of winning or escaping. Right now the jail cells are kinda stupid Because they only can be used on your own crew mates.

And while we're talking about the jail cell there should be a mission where you have to transport a pirate or a person to another out post before a certain amount of time or something like that. This way you use the clock and the jail cell a little more

They need more underwater missions such as going to a location that's not an island and driving in the water to find items like gold cups, rare tea, and things like that and instead of bone enemies it could be sharks and a big a*s whale that ram your ship.

That's just a few ideas I have that would be fun in the game I'm fine with the way pvp and pve work as is. I barely run into people and when I do i never have a issue with fighting them or dying by them I usually have alot of fun fighting them.

  • How about a mission where you have to steal chest off a npc boat and the way it starts is by saying the boat was last seen by x island and you have to figure out how to get on there boat and get the chest off and back to the outpost

  • @pokymanx540719 I would love if they would make an island or something where you couldn't drop off, or collect loot/resources. Like a tortuga where you could just talk with other crews show off cosmetics maybe even put together a crew.

The way i'd want it to be implemented would either be outside the realm of the normal game. So either you que into it like you would trying to que with a certain type of ship.

So you would que "Tortuga" either alone or with friends. Then it would be up to 20 people or whatever in there and would have 20 docks so everyone could spawn their ship for everyone else to look at.

I'm wondering though, it seems that the pirate legend tavern is behind the door that is in every pub in the game. What if that is what the pirate legend tavern is like and we just don't know it yet
