I love that we can play musical instruments in this game. Not only do I hope for more shanties down the line but I also hope for more musical instruments! Whenever I play with other players they also mention this idea as well.

We already have the Squeeze Box (Accordion) and the Hurdy Gurdy. 2 very pirate-like instruments. But what else is missing? I have always been a fan of pirates and pirate things, lifestyles, movies, books, all of it. I even have many rea authentic pirate goodies including a necklace I wear everyday. That is why when this game came out I flew to it immediately.

I think a big instrument this game should add is the braginho. A small Portuguese guitar. I always see these either in pirate films or any kind of game or picture. Even in real life shanties you can listen too.

Fiddles, hautboys (oboes), and drums are mentioned in contemporary sources. Captain Bartholomew Roberts' fiddlers were captives, forced to play by the pirates six days a week. The hautboys and drums were used for "vaporing," a cacophonous noise the pirates made as they closed on their victims to intimidate them.

You could use the same type of selection as the weapons. Meaning although there are multiple instruments, you may only have 2 equipped at a time.

I personally would LOVE to see these in the future.

I'm pretty sure it is confirmed that a drum is in the works, as well as that banjo instrument you can see/hear in the Legendary Hideout.

The developers definitely commented on the drum, in their pre-launch AMA, and said the drum was not yet ready for launch.

Well the band in the legends hideout has a pirate with a banjo and you can hear them actually playing it so I would take a stab in the dark that that at the very least is coming.

I'd like to see mermaids removed from automatically popping up (for stealth reasons) and have a special instrument that summons them (but at the same distance they usually pop up).

@floppy-peener The taverns have music boxes as well, that would be a cool little thing they could add to ships as well. I have hear rumors of being able to customize your own personal hideout? So if not a quartet for your ship you could add either a shanty band or classy group in your own tavern/home.

@floppy-peener Maybe it could be a ship customization? Lets say you are a high level or even legendary, you could go to the ship builder and buy a quartet add on, which adds a group into the captains quarters that you can turn on and off by pressing F! That would be very cool!
