Things to Think About Adding

  • This is a list of different gameplay mechanics/NPCs/Monsters that we should-could possibly get in future updates.

    1. New NPCs
I think one thing that would greatly benefit this game is a more expansive group of NPCs to interact with.

This could include A.I. pirates. These pirates could be friendly and or hostile. If they are a mix of both maybe there should be an easy way to tell the difference, like each represents some type of faction and that faction emblem is all over the ships and all over their clothes to easily tell the difference.

This could also include new animals. Animals list anywhere from different types of sharks to various new birds, insects both large and small, and all sea creatures like eels and stingrays and crabs etc. A couple new creatures both in the sea and on the land could go a long way in a clean polish.

    1. Weaponry
I’m not sure that many new guns should be added considering there is already a flintlock pistol, a blunderbuss and a sniper rifle, but we could at least see some different melee weapons.

I think it would be cool to see a dual wielded sword melee weapon that offers new attacks and defenses. You could also include a dagger and a dual dagger for even more melee weapon attack and defenses.

Of course with the addition of these new weapons would come all the cosmetics, which would then add more variety. But what if the cosmetics overall changed the entire type of weapon completely? It would stay it’s base weapon but instead of a cutlass, maybe you can buy a rapier, and you can buy different types of flintlock pistols etc.

    1. New Ships
This is of course a huge topic on count of a pirate game that only has 2 pirate ships currently. I think it would be cool to add a bigger ship that houses maybe 6 to 8 players. And then maybe even an even larger ship that houses 10 to 12. Some may say these monster ships would be unfair, but if they are balanced correctly where the smaller ships could outmaneuver them with ease, I think just playing on a crew of 10 to 12 players could be a whole lot of fun.

Even if we don’t see bigger ships, it would be cool if either we the player could customize the layout of our ships or if we can choose between a couple different custom layouts. Imagine redesigning the interior of your Sloop to fit your play style a little better before embarking on an epic voyage across the sea of thieves.

Another feature which kind of bleeds into my first point is A.I. controlled ships. Just like stated earlier, it would be cool if some of these ships are friendly and some of these ships are hostile. This may dismiss some of the backlash of constantly being attacked if you come across a friendly ship once and awhile.

    1. Sea Monsters
I personally have not met the Kraken yet, but I feel that adding some other monster creatures could be a very cool edition to the game. If this were to be added, I believe the map would have to be increased in size so your odds of running into them are a little slimmer (even tho I feel the map should be made larger regardless of added sea monsters)

We could add a megaladon, the giant ship eating shark of the prehistoric era, thought to be extinct. Some type of snake like sea serpent could be added that strikes quick while moving quickly. The dev team could even make up some abominations of the sea instead of creating monsters already known to us.

    1. ** Random Thoughts**
Zombie mode because who doesn’t love zombies? I know completely impractical and random but I’m yet to play a game that zombies ruined so why not?

Being able to run while carrying skulls. I feel like it’s pretty dumb that carrying an almost weightless skull takes away your ability to run. I realize it’s done to make it more difficult since it’s loot but let’s be realistic here.

Adding some pirate lyrics and songs, maybe more instruments. I’ve heard you can find pirate songs in books around, but am I the only one who got a lot of entertainment from listening to the crew song different pirate songs in Assasins Creed Black Flag? It could be like it is to play instruments now where you have to manually start playing, but it could be like a music note or something to signify its singing and you’ll start singing random pirate music.

Some type of story mode. I realize the basis of the game, but maybe if some very loosely put together story was added just for extra laughs and playtime, i think a lot of people would stick around longer.

Some type of leveling system for the pirate. The main problem I think in games like this is not being able to upgrade your character into something better. I’m not sure since I haven’t really sat down and thought about what would be in this skill tree, but some dedicated skill tree and leveling system always makes games that are a little dry, wet as the seven seas.

  • @snappy-killas I also thing the game would benefit from he following, if some or all of the above were implemented:

    • Chain Shot and mast damage
    • Different classes of ship (as well as the size variants), eg. a 12 man gun ship that has 12 cannons, but is slower and a 12 man gun ship that has only 4 guns, but is faster and better for boarding.
    • Trade goods - these are locked inside ships hold and can only be traded between players (not stolen), more encouragement to not shoot each other on sight
  • @house3x3 yeah that would definetely add to the variation of ships having those different classes of ships. The trading idea is a good idea but a little too unrealistic. No loot is lootable-less lol but I do think it would be a good idea if possible. Maybe loot has a chance to get “damaged” if it is under attack, lessening it’s value is a better approach to the scenario.
