@hallower1980 yeah they were intractable amongst other books. I just come across them on random islands. I couldn’t recall which ones (possibly one on shark bait cove).

There was almost like a shrine set up on the island. A few steps in sand leading to a pedestal.

@hudson-rl Where are y'all finding these readable books? Is it one book by itself in a cave or washed ashore? Or did you find an interactive book among a bunch of purely cosmetic books?

Aside from the tavern books, I have tried interacting with scattered books in a couple beached wrecks, like the one on Shipwreck Bay. But nothing.

@hallower1980 is that accurate? If so it’s really cool we can acquire more shanties. Really disappointed that there wasn’t any new ones in for launch.

I was under the impression though that these shanties in books were just lyrics?
That’ll suck if that’s the case. I’ve found a few readable books on islands that give new treasure maps and funny stories so who knows...

I hope they add "Farewell Spanish Ladies" as a tribute to Jaws. "Leave Her, Johnny" was my favorite from Black Flag.

"The Fox Chase" is probably too skillful a fiddle tune to expect of pirates, unfortunately. Ol' Darby would have made a fine pirate!

Has anyone heard other songs at like outposts? Sometimes the shipwright sings "Drunken Sailor" so I assume that is one of the secret songs.

I found one on an island somewhere and it let me read it. But it was just a funny story about not being a jerk to your crewmates. Lol

@vyx I agree. I was actually rather disappointed with the 4 songs they chose to play. They are all really good but I don't understand why they had to make new songs from scratch when there are real folk songs and shanties that have been around since the 1700's. And I don't know about it but I feel that most of them must be in the public domain as there was the influx of folk singers in the 60's and 70's that sang and played pretty much a good lot of them.

To be fair, the songs in the game ARE real songs. I love that Rise of the Valkyries made it in, like, for real. I just think it would add so much more if we could add to, and even customize, our selection in time.
