The reason we try and keep discussions to one thread is to make it easier for the developers to locate and read feedback and opinions.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread so far and we look forward to reading the continued discussion in the mega thread! I'll close this one down now and let you sail over there.

@tahngarthor lol why not put in 100 players, crafting and progression for stronger weapons would attract even more people. Your logic is completely flawed. They want as many players as possible (obvious duh) but without twistig their vision of their game.

I don't want Safe Zone outposts, keep them as they are. But I do want a big social hub where you can meet up with other crews, show off and eventually play dice/card games or just get drunk while playing music together!

@happyalbe Then they shouldn't be playing a pirate game. I'm sure they don't want to fight, makes me want to steal their loot even more. I can't tell if you and others are being serious. You guys truly don't know what you purchased. Good idea to read about a game before you buy it.

I like your idea. And I would welcome the possibility, to put bounties on the head of the most nefarious pirates. That would further an atmosphere of constant distrust and paranoia!

Sea of Thieves lost a lot of potential buyers by having PvP thrown in, and there's literally been no good reason or excuse as to why the game can't have a PvE server set beyond "hurdur it's a pirate game". Ever heard of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag or the other Pirate games out there that didn't need restrictionless PvP to be successful? PvP can have higher rewards (like even a 100% increase to gold/reputation) and all that jazz and I'm sure PvE servers would still prove to be massively more popular than the ones where someone gets 30+ minutes of time wasted on being chased/sunk/etc.

Man. Do you know how long this game was in development? And do you know they started with the idea of a game, where players constantly kill, plunder, pillage and sink eachother? And then, somewhere along the journey, the halfheartedly added a few PVE-aspects. Like sprinkling some chocolate on a cake ... MADE OUT OF BLOOD AND TEARRRRS!!!

This is a PVP game like DayZ, PUBG, Battlefield - you name it. And luckily, the Devs said they will never implement a PVE server. Multiple times. In quite a few languages. repeatedly.

You're making a really wild assumption given how this game is marketed. You're operating on the assumption that everyone wants an easy game, and that's simply not true. Already, playing solo is the most difficult way to play but many people do it. Have a little faith in humanity.

You're also failing to consider the fact that non PvP could just be entirely seperate and not count towards progress in the PvP environment. Honestly though, all the items are vanity, as far as I can tell, so what the hell does it matter how you got it? Everyone can farm the gold to get the items eventually, whether they PvP'd or not. So it really makes no difference to me the method they used. Aside from that, they can just make PvPing more rewarding- get bonuses for kills or sinking ships or whatever that go beyond just claiming the loot they had.

And if the content is that lacking, then well, maybe they shouldn't have released the game so soon.

@roosterhome actually I think it would hurt, it would be too easy to earn xp and money without any resistance. If you become the first pirate legend by playing in PvE only servers how are you a legend among pirates if you've never been or seen a real pirate in your safe lobbys.

What does it matter how easy it is for them to earn things when they're in a seperate universe from you? Again, it doesn't affect your gameplay at all.

It's like trying to cheat a single player game, sure it's lame, but it doesn't affect anyone other than the person doing it.

And im getting real sick and tired of this notion that because a game has pirates, it must be online PvP. There have been many pirate related games over the years that are not and were not.

Co-op only or solo only can just be in its own little world that doesn't carry over to the PvP world. Every MMO has that, there's nothing wrong with that, and the people that arent playing in teh same world as you aren't affecting you. That argument of unfairness has no merit.

The only people I see supporting a non pvp server, lobby, or location are pvp players that just want the world to burn.

If the game has 4x the number of expected players, a no pvp option will still give you plenty of people to fight with.

In my opinion, SoT is simply "Pirate Deathmatch."

In a deathmatch game, you can gear up and go in with guns blazing. You can camp somewhere and snipe until someone finds you. You can try to team up until it's just the two of you left, etc.

Or, you can find somewhere to hide, and try to be the last person the victor has to kill. Make them WORK for it. Try to lure people together without getting trapped in the fight. Be that annoying fool who announces where other people are. There are ALWAYS other ways to play any game, if you want to find them.

But it's still "Pirate Deathmatch" by design, and that's what most people are going to play.

I do think it would be nice if there was one "social island" on the map, though. No merchants or anything useful, just a spot of land to hang out on, and you could only get there from the Ferry.

I don't agree. If it was "pirate deathmatch" then there would be no need for treasure or forts, venomus snakes, skeletons or any of the other stuff in the game.

There is a game that is "pirate deathmatch, and it's called Pirates, Vikings & Knights. That game is purely about killing each other. This game is not. It has missions that in no way directly involve going around killing people. I mean really, if it's deathmatch, then where is the scoreboard? the stats? the rankings? Maybe there actually should be a deathmatch mode where there is no loot or treasure and it's just fighting, but that should be its own mode.

@sorenthaz I agree you could make a pve server but only on your conditions of gold and reputation boosts for PvP. I feel like a pve server isn't a bad thing cuz of course people want it. but if not rebalenced will allow for easier leveling and gold production.
