in the last time i had some players circling around the island where i am ,when i go for them they ran away ,back to my island they come back as well, thats griefing cause its super annoying.

Not necessarily. One may join your crew, but they may not simply be in your crew in the same aspect of spirit.

They may belong to a group of friends who you just met or met just recently trying to revenge themselves or capture the loot you have by dropping them secretly to the sea while their real crew sails from behind and grabs them. I'm not sure how easy this is, but I think it is possible.

If you sail with randoes, always double check the security of your loot and patrol it.

Just dropping your anchor or crashing your ship and that way getting you killed by another crew also begs the question of actual alignment in this light. Are they part of your crew or are they actually aligned with the one you met before; the one that just killed you. I am not so sure if every player accused of trolling this way are actual trolls. Some of them might be, but it's not as simple to detect as in some other games, I wager.

Insta-jailing can also be a gesture to show you the door in some cases.

@jamiethe1egend Where is the line between pirating and griefing, and what do you do if someone threatens to report you for sinking their ship and then offering to build a fleet (2 crews, 2 galleons) afterwards?

I love this game so far, and I'm very satisfied with how far its come from the days of the technical alpha, but it seems a lot of newer gamers (and even some veteran ones) don't seem to know the difference between the behavior of a pirate and that of an actual griefer.

Either way, I'm loving my founders sails!

Wow I just went on youtube and tried looking up evidence of people not being able to respawn. As I expected I could only find one and it was this guy who was being spawn killed, but clearly seen in the Video he had the choice, everytime even when being sniped to click respawn, he chose not to. Spawn Killing isn't a problem I now think players not accepting a defeat is.

Seems to me like you just gave a bunch of reasons why grieving isn’t grieving. Good for you that you didn’t experience it 👍doesn’t really matter though because it did happen to a lot of people.

My complaint is how often people complain about mechanics in the game without thinking about how just planning ahead or being attentive in a strategic game like this can save them alot of time and frustration.

@toastywrath I get what you're saying there. The one reason to hang around, imo, is that every now and again another player will come up with and share something useful. The recent sword-play tutorial hits that list. In any case, see you out there!

Every PvP game has some degree of trolling and griefing. The only questions are how much and whether the devs take any steps to limit it. I get the impression that Rare doesn't view it as a high priority issue. That mentality works out okay in Ark. It will interesting to see how it works out in SoT.

People need to learn to swim underwater and head towards the mermaids.

@casesugar401098 The spawn killing thing at the mermaids is exactly why people shouldnt respawn at the mermaid after their ship sinks. lol if you scroll through older posts youll see plenty of discussion about this

Look, people are going to whine they are getting killed and people are going to whine when others scuttle after being in pursuit. Killing another crew and sinking ships ISN'T griefing. You sail the seas you take the risk. However, if you are going to kill the same folk who clearly don't have loot over and over again you are just... lame lol. There are players who just like to sink ships. I think that's a valid style of game play. The respawn mechanic and the server population seems to be the biggest issue.

I watched a stream where this crew kept sinking the same people over and over despite trying to get away and find another target. There just weren't many other options and this crew kept respawning right near them.

Eventually the two crews merged and ran a galleon with 8 people because they were tired of fighting each other over and over.

I had one of my posts reported for calling PvE players "Care Bears"

It's becoming a common term for them however, one of the Twitch streamers I watch even has a care bear emote. It's cute and pink and hugging a treasure chest 😊

Anyhow, doesn't matter what you call anyone. It's not allowed here apparently.

Well, to be honest when I have been in that situation this is what happened.

We were a 3 man crew, and a 1 man crew attacked us and we destroyed him in a cannon battle and went away, we stopped at a island and started doing our voyage when he came back and hit us from the side, we killed him and sunk him again and guarded our ship until he left. (We had Treasure) He kept swimming towards us and we just blundered him off our ropes for about 30 minutes, he was persistent and just kept coming, we got bored of it and started sniping him from our ship at his mermaid as his intentions were clear, he wanted to keep coming. As soon as he died 4 times next to the mermaid, he soon respawned to get away. @Sager2210 @MyCrystalwings were my crew and can back me up.

That's an different story. All you were doing was defending yourself against someone who appears to be intellectually impaired.

I would like ot see something tweaked with the respawn system I just dont have the answer as to what. I have never been spawn camped and the only time I have ever killed someone as they were spawning in is if we were currently fighting on their boat or offloading their chests and they spawn back in.

If the ship is sunk we will normally have someone watching the mermaid as chests are pulled out of the water, we try not to shoot unless someone makes a move that is'nt directly toward the mermaid . Would be nice if the players and mermaid spawned a little bit away from where the chests were coming up from the sunken ship

Spawn killing is most certainly griefing when someone is camped at the mermaid and won't let anyone use the mermaid to get their new ship after the fight has ended.

Also not sinking a ship but standing right at the spawn point on the ship and repeatedly killing someone before they can even get out of the white screen. Obviously at this point they should scuttle the boat, however then the mermaid gets camped.

Also, brigging someone for no reason is griefing, however its seldom for no reason. It's usually due to a flaw in the matchmaking system. It's always polite to explain the circumstances and politely ask someone to leave. However most the time they refuse and they have to get brigged anyway.

I know it saves time just to brig someone but please a little common courtesy helps those who are willing to do the right thing.

Either way, Rare has fixes for these problems in the works.

@sonofbruuf I really don't understand the no pvp wishes. I played through all the scale tests and never found a problem with pvp. This is on Solo, Duo and 3 and 4 stack. I think the people who cry griefing and trolling are actually putting themselves in the situation. And then crying about it once they get killed 50 times. I played all the betas and I haven't been spawn killed or stopped someone else respawning with the mermaid. They can respawn before being killed. I also never had a real problem with pvp, I saw a ship every 30 minutes at most.

@jamiethe1egend Nevermind him. He's a frequent poster who shills "no PVP" in Sea of Thieves in just about any thread, it's insane.
