They should always be heard, but aren’t always valid, if that’s what you mean. I know this is just a game but it still applies on some level, whether or not most people ever realize it in their lifetime.
Reread it and respond to anything besides the one part that was a general concept not specific to the topic. And don’t leave out the “because of lack of effort” part and quote me out of context ever again please lol.. also said “I know this is just a game” after that example. And “as valid as the complaint may be” I’m talking about players solving the problem for themselves to some degree, and never said complaints shouldn’t be heard, but again rare can’t just magically make people play nice. The opinion of what trolling is varies and some people may want to adjust their opinion on both ends of the spectrum, not speaking about you specifically.

I was playing solo and a galleon engaged me near an island. One of there crew managed to board my sloop and kill me. I didn't have any chest or anything else of value so I wasn't too concerned. I respawned on my boat only to be killed again instantly.

How did I deal "deal with the griving..."?

I scuttled my sloop a few moments before respawning again. Once I respawned in the water I saw the fellow who had boarded and killed me twice swimming away from me. So I started to swim after him. He never noticed he was being chased. Their galleon came to pick him up and I managed to sneak on board right behind him without being noticed...

I went straight to their captian's quarters where I found sooo many chests. I knew there was no way I could win a fight against 4 of them and I didn't have a way to steal their treasure for myself...so I decided to grieve the grievers...I brought every single chest they had (it had to be 8-10 of them) to the balcony that wraps around the captain's quarters and then chucked every last one of them into the sea.

A couple of minutes after I unburdened their ship they stopped at an island (presumably on the next leg of their voyage) where I made a suicide run at them. I didn't manage to kill any of them (nor did I really expect to); I really did it so I could get back to the mermaid. But I had exacted my revenge.

That whole encounter probably cost me 10 minutes of my time....God only knows how much of their time I tossed into the ocean.

I wouldn't have done it if they had just killed me once, raided my supplies, and left....But they spawn killed me.

That is how I deal with grivers.

Personally man. I don't think theres such thing as "Griefing"
People on here just like to call "PvP", "Griefing".

Thats why I chose the term

There very much is a difference between "Griefing" and "PvP", and that difference is centered around the attitude and intent of how you engage with other players.

Encountering and engaging other crews and players in combat, whether that is for glory or gold, is fine and an intentional and necessary part of the PvP aspects of this game.

Verbally abusing, repeatedly spawn killing and harassing/stalking the same crew over and over for no apparent gain other than to make that other crew's experience miserable, and abusing the brig, are most certainly "Griefing". Being a "Pirate" is not carte blanche for abusing other players, nor should it be synonymous with griefing. This runs counter to the intent of the game as envisioned by the developers, and goes against the Code. You can be an active PvP'er and still be respectful of other players.

In fact, historically speaking, true pirates very seldom were overly violent with other crews, as they knew that if their reputation proceeded them as being ruthless that ships would fight harder and not surrender their goods as readily, and they often subsumed the other crew into their own or let them go.

It's better to consider solutions rather then postulate on how sensitive they are or how good they are at the game. Spawn locations and times are a good start, but redemption and retrieving stolen treasure is one of my absolute favorite parts of the game. Its very hard because people are going to get upset when you steal 7 chests of them, blood is going to boil and allot of people are going to take it too far... but frankly i dont think those situations hold a candle to interteam greifing.

Nothing wrong with that. You just have to pick yourself up and try again

This is a pirate game. If people try to harass me all the time. Camping outposts... pretty much every other thing that people call greifing. However, I show them the error of their ways :p by just being cautious seeing through their plans and wrecking their day lol.

We are not talking about just stealing treasure here we are talking about people who are intentionally harassing others

Like I said I havnt been playing the scale test today or last one, but at the same time I wouldn’t want to run into me even on the first day of my playtime. Not judging casuals but most seem to not realize the amount of effort some people put in, games just hand out wins for the most part and I think that disconnect is a part of the problem. What happened to dying in MARIO and staring over, etc. not asking for super hardcore mechanics, just really think going super casual is a mistake for this game and would see an equal drop in sales especially after launch as if they went super hardcore. The casual gamers attention span is usually a lot less than a “hardcore” gamer and I mean time spent more than wanting super punishing mechanics.

The test we never had more than 4 chests but the beta we would have 18+ daring other people to challenge us in a fight. Adapt to the meta, don't complain about it, pirate up you scalywags!
