Woah woah guys, i meant this to be a fun thread, not a thread discussing mental issues, or putting down other players, while I respect your opinion, i just wanted to offer up the suggestion. Also the "HERE" link was giving an "Access Denied" thing. But once again, it was just a suggestion for an idea of a tutorial. While Rare might add a tutorial, I was adding a way of implementing; hence the "Ghost Pirate"

No. I'm saying its far more effective and healthier to use a carrot and not a stick in your approach. Cause what your doing is adding to the problem not solving it.

@enf0rcer Not to mention all the horrible test and studies that were conducted on children. Mental health is a serious problem in this country and easly be proven how negitively impacts ones ablity to learn at any age.

While you are correct that those are all causes. Studies have shown that constant insulting and belittling to a persons negitivly effects there mental health as it stifles their creativity and confidence. Instead making them take a defensive postion hindering exploration. Thus resulting in learning disabilties. Our U.S. school system has been doing that for years which is why we have such a problem.

I am by no means a genius. But as someone who was given a beta key and had never heard of the game, and not 1 time looked at any videos or information decided to go solo and figure it out.

I had a firm understanding in less than an hour. I was no expert, but I had started a voyage and was underway.

All it takes is thinking and exploring, you spawn on an outpost. What should you do, explore obviously. And what do you do when you discover the gold hoarders selling a free voyage. Buy it obviously. Oh look, you now have a map. Why do I do now? I explored this mysterious boat and saw a map. Let me check that.

I can't understand the amount of hand holding you people are expecting. If you're 5 years old, hey I get it. Ask your guardian that bought you the game. If you're 12? Who are you kidding you're not playing alone and 1 of your friends is smart enough to figure something out.

hey bro you shouldn't demean players because they want to be taught or learn a certian way. Some people may just require help for reasons outside there control. You should try to encourage new player to explore and discover not insult them. This is what causes learning disablities. So please don't do it. It helps no one including you.

@ikirrex I dissagree. I think a tutorial will take alot of charm out of the game as the initial phase of figuring out what to do yourself or with freinds is a big part of the experience itself. The idea is for the game to be ituitive as possible so it can give a strong sense of emersion. Althou I would say the can give players some sort of hints to help them along. But there are alot of experience captians like me in both on the seas and in this forum that would gladly share our knowlage. A full tutorial would just remove a part of the social experience.

The game can be figured out within minutes. There is no need. Also, when you're playing with your friends, you can easily tell them and help them.

I agree that a tutorial would be a good idea but if it's added, I would like to see it as completely optional.

So either an explanatory video you can choose to watch, check a box when jumping into the game for a tutorial, or maybe someone in the town can explain things if you ask them.

I feel that with this game, exploration and communication are at it's core and learning through friends/randoms or just figuring it all out fits with the theme of the game.

I know some people will need help with things... but I think it would suck to have a "tutorial level" that you are forced to play through.

1st time playing the game is very easy...basic (scale test)
