Mistresses' and Gents', I believe that we may all be looking in the wrong direction! What if it wasn't in fact hidden inside of an island like @lizalaroo first mentioned, but hidden inside of one of the rocks! The huge rocks that stand out in the ocean. Some of them may be big enough to hide such a place AND it would also make that location uniquely dedicated to the hideout! Instead of sharing it with a island that you do missions for and such. Well that's what I theorize anyway.

I am thinking it is in devils ridge. Bottom right island on the map, this is the island they show off in the video. The entire legend thing seems to be an Easter egg from the Goonies. This island has dead skeletons pinned to walls by b***y traps just like the Goonies. I believe that cave is under this island. You can get into a cave that takes you down to an area with a shrine. I feel like we will need a muscial instrument to access the cave not a real key. In the Goonies they had to play the Skelton piano to enter. Once we get inside we will blow a hole into the side of the wall, just like the Goonies causing water to rush in and we kinda sail out. Or even cooler is if we blow a hole under water and the magic of SoT holds the water at Bay and we explode from underwater like the flying Dutchman. They have said the location is present on the map and this is the exact location from the video they released talking about the secret hideout.
As far as dressed I am going to the 9. My clan is the Dashing gents so we have to look good while we pillage and murder!

They say it was in the Beta. So from now on any chance I get, all I will be doing is looking for this place. Looking doubt there are any clues given about it yet, so Im going to go quadrant to quadrant searching. By my beard, I will find it on my own and it will be glorious.

I believe the waterfall will appear only prior to a ship leaving the hideout, acting as a sort of portal. The hideout itself does seem like it needs to be underwater or under an island somehow. Even the largest islands don't really have enough space to conceal a cave with a galleon above sea level.

I thought about the secret, boarded up cave stream in Sailor's Bounty's cave system. It might lead to Smuggler's Bay or something, and the ship comes out of the Bay with a waterfall within the arches acting as a portal. But if the place is seamlessly hidden, then walking underground from Bounty to Bay would take a ridiculous amount of time.

We also can't rule out those reef islands. Maybe that pinnacle rock in the middle of the map is where the waterfall portal will be?

I don't think this place actually is something we've seen already. If your ship is going to burst through a waterfall, I can't think of a single one that would have been big enough to accommodate a full galleon. I wonder if it's the sort of thing that maybe rises up out of the water? Or a "cannot find except by those who have been there" type deal? It would be interesting if it was in the red zone. Like if you had to sail a specific route of the red-zone to get there and only legends could get the compass to show them the way. THAT would be super cool.

If it's not an instanced place, what's to stop other pirate ships that aren't legends from just following a legend until they get to the hideout? I don't want it to be an instanced zone, because that would be almost the same as it being a "safe zone" in some instances. But otherwise, what's to just stop someone from waiting outside for a legend and then going in behind them? I guess that's how I would like it to be designed, but it does detract from the allure of the hideout.

@ant-heuser-kush and it makes up to three. But since everyone will know about this 'secret' location in a short time, and other pirates will join the legendary status (after you ;), each sailor of those crews will have a chance to get in, you willing or not. Crowded in a fortnight!

@lizalaroo so, here we go again. You all seem to be interpreting "a special hideout, available only to you and crew members you choose to bring there" as a single, well defined and static point on the map, valid for everyone in the game.
But then, where's secrecy? Its location will be posted everywhere in a breeze, all the world will be there, it will become a scumm-bar rather than a legendary hideout.

How could it be "available only to you" any longer? Maybe just those with 'legendary' status will be able to enter? But even in that case, the rest of the world will camp outside...
It will be a legendary marketplace, rather than a legendary hideout...

Mermaid's Hideaway. I bet my rum on it, of what little I have left.

there is only one that comes to mind with an internal waterfall....and the name escapes me...has a maze of tunnels, and some of the riddle maps specify finding the waterfall in darkness...but I don't remember it being very roomy

Thieves haven is what I was thinking also. I believe I came across a locked door somewhere. I remember asking myself hmmm why is this door locked...
The door was blocking some kind of cave entrance.
