These ships will be significantly different than the others as they are legendary ships.

Ok someone stop me here but have we not just come full circle. The concept of power progression is a growth in power, by turning this into a toggle (legendary or not) is no less a power progressive model. Area are off limits until you prove yourself worthy (very mmo style) and micro transactions seem limited to things you'd want (pets) rather than cosmetic changes.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still interested to play but will definitely be using my 14 day free trial of gamepass to do so before i put any money in. I'll tell you then if this is the game for me or not.

Again not disappointed but definitely concerned.

I think that devs actually said that new pirates will be able to join in on legendary 'adventures', they have also said that they want weapons and equipment to be the same for all, but I'm not quite sure about ships, though.

They did, its quoted above from @Ethnine.

Regarding ships this is something that was suggested as what they want to do post-launch.

The other thing is that I am not sure what they mean by legendary voyages? Are those like a new batch of quests on the same seas, doing harder things ? Does that lead to legendary cosmetic items (most certainly)? What after that though ?

Yes, they said in an interview that the Pirate Lord will give out legendary voyages and these are the most challenging in the game. So think something along the lines of more cryptic clues, more chapters of the voyage, etc. The above mentioned post-launch suggestion was that once you have gained enough renown with the Pirate Lord from doing legendary voyages you would become a Legendary Captain. This is where the suggestion of Owning your own ship with options to customize it come from. It was suggested that once you become a Legendary Captain your ship would be moored in the hideout and you would spawn there, with your crew (if you sent friends invites), rather than spawning in a random tavern.

For the normal Galleon & Sloop I don't think there is going to be much ship customization, rather, once you become a Legendary Captain you will have many options to customize your ship which is what will make it stand out from a normal ship so people will know it is a Legendary Captain. All of this is what was suggested as what they want to do quickly post-launch

I guess what's next will come out in later patches. I just hope that it will not be too easy to clock whatever content is available on the 20th in less than 3 months, though I am sure many will put themselves in that situation, with no regrets ;)

I hope that the legendary phase of the game will open up new seas, new features other than the legendary ship and quests.

Cheers,

I don't think becoming a Legendary Pirate, or Legendary Captain eventually, will open up new seas as that would fragment the player population and they would need some method of getting from one to the other. I do think eventually they will increase the size of the world, however, that will most likely be for everyone.

I'm not sure about any mechanical ship upgrades that you might get but even if they were to give something like bow cannons (or that flamethrower thingy from queen Anne's revenge in PotC) it seems you reach the status through purely gaining rep. This means that when the first legends come out, there may be some disparity in combat but eventually others will catch up and become legends too so it won't matter as much.

Well, battle prowess is only one measure of a pirate's worth. And arguably, one of the lesser ones. For what drives a true pirate more than anything is getting their hands on as much gold as possible.

I definitly understand your concern as these are the areas where the game rides close to a very slippery sloop. I had mention this before in other treads. Like when they said clearly in the progression video that all upgrades are purely cosmetic and all player will start with all the same equipment and yet they sold the blunderbuss in the beta. Now keep in mind we still don't know how the legendary ship and it's "upgrades" will work but this clearly is a case off cross messaging and should quickly be cleared up before people start getting the wrong idea.
