[Mega Thread] - Safe Zones
-
@psych0-knightro speak for yourself. I've been playing games for awhile and trolls will eat this game up. Their will be a troll(s) at every Outpost. So after sailing around the map to all 6 Outpost that all were being watched by trollers and campers where do I go now to turn in my chest?? Be it that I'm solo and have more than one chest?? Just sail around the map for a couple hours waiting for all mermaids and ships to leave all outposts?? Wait they won't leave?? Why?? Because they are trolls and campers and that's what they do. So I would like just one single Outpost maybe even 3 of the 6 Outposts to be a safe zone where there are no campers/trollers/griefers. That way every one that is against safe zone can continue to mess with each other at the other Outposts?? Since your so against it you won't be going to the safe Outposts anyways why does it matter?? You can continue to troll or be trolled at your own leisure
-
@f0ur20-4ever it is too easy to run from people chasing you to have safe zones, once you see a ship you could easily just sail into the safe zone and be completely fine and then theres no danger in the world
-
@explosiveboby you act like everytime you see a ship the safe zone is gonna be right there and easy to get to?? Maybe Chase them away from any close safe zone and not to it?? Look for ships not close to safe zones??
-
@f0ur20-4ever just because you are not right next to the safezone doesnt mean you cant get there, god forbid you have to Pvp in a pvp game
-
@explosiveboby a good pirate would stop me from getting there and steal all my treasure before hand
-
@explosiveboby only way for you to pvp is after they park ship and go to cash in?? Haha that's not pvp lol
-
@f0ur20-4ever If someone just wants to run forever they can just sit on their sails and you can never catch them, id also argue that a good pirate wouldnt need a safe space to hide from any danger
-
@explosiveboby who said hiding?? Just need to cash in my chest without campers and trollers waiting for me to give them free s**t?? How do I go about selling my chest with all Outposts looked down by trollers and campers?? Again playing solo so it's impossible to be done
-
@f0ur20-4ever Plenty of people have 1v4ed a galleon as a solo player, you can kill people at an outpost just as easy as they can kill you maybe even easier since you would have infinite ammo on your ship and could kill them with your cannons, if you arent able to kill them maybe they are just better pirates than you
-
@explosiveboby hahahaha your hilarious I would hope they're better pirates considering there are 4x more people and cannons aimed at me. Only way I'm coming out on top of that is if that ship was full of c****y noobs. They are gonna sink me and take all 8 of my chest. Show me a video of a single sloop taking down a full galleon with experienced players.. You can't because it's prolly only happened. A few times
-
@explosiveboby so quit playing the game since I can't sell any of my chest in solo??? Nah I can sell chest just fine with a crew but the problem arises when I wanna play solo. You are obviously against it so why are you even In this thread?? This thread is about "safe zones" not "keeping safe zones outta the game"
-
@f0ur20-4ever Maybe if need need safezone to be able to turn in your treasure solo dont play solo? If you want to still solo maybe try maneuvering around the galleon so that they cannot hit you and you can slowly sink them, Im also pretty sure "keeping safe zones outta the game" is still about safezones aswell
-
@f0ur20-4ever
I think most people are ok with safe zones. But the big worry about them is people using them to run away to. But like others said there is work around a to that.People running away and using them to their advantage is the only thing that would bother me.
-
@explosiveboby hopefully they have two server types. One with no safe Outposts and one with a couple safe Outposts so that way explosiveboby and his buddies can keep trolling and I can turn in my solo chests

I think having 2 servers is an awesome idea one with safezones and the other just like the game is now. I would vote for that any day!!

@sergent-C****r there we go @ExplosiveBoby gave me the inspiration for the idea so credit to him as well

I highly doubt that every Outpost in the game world will have a ship waiting at it. The odds are way too high. People are constantly out on the move.
As @ExplosiveBoby said, don't play solo if it's too difficult for you, and there is nothing wrong with solo being too difficult. It is a much more difficult style of play. Play on a galleon. It's a lot of fun! My problem is that you shouldn't make the most difficult setting in the game easier when it's just that: a harder difficulty.

I’m 100% against safe zones. I have been campaigning against them for a while now. BUT at the same time I still want everyone to be able to enjoy the game and be able to play it the way they want to.
I feel the community is split on the subject and from the many arguments I have read and been in myself, it doesn’t seem that there is any room for compromise on either side. Except for the social space idea. I think every one likes that idea.
So In my opinion maybe splitting the population by different play style servers is the way to go? There’s going to be a lot of people playing this game I don’t think splitting will hurt the game at all.
-
@psych0-knightro because I can't take down a camping galleon with players aboard and some hiding on the island that are just waiting for me I'm not good solo?? That's an unfair assessment sounds like a difficult task IMO because if I was on a crew on a galleon with a solo ship coming on us there is no way he is gonna cash a single chest in let alone sink our ship. Your asking the impossible
-
@apocacide
To be honest with you no matter what, we will have to do that anyways lol. It’s realy up to the devs on what they do to their game and we will just have to play what they design. Either way I can’t wait! -
I think that the tavern should be a safe zone i mean i cant see why you would want to kill people in there and it would make it so you can chat with other players and maybe make alliances. I actually had a idea that the 3 guilds should have like a hq island where once you have ranked up enough you get invited there and get more important quests that could also be a safe zone.
-
I have posted opinions to this topic in other threads, but I will briefly reiterate for the sake of this new forum thread.
Overall, I understand the concern with safe zones and I think if any are considered it should be no more than one or two islands. And to stay with the theme, it could be an island that is governed by the British that protect it. But it comes at a cost. If you trade any treasure in, you will be taxed like 25% to pay for the protection. And if you shoot someone you get thrown in the brig and have to pay a fine to get out.
That might help situation where people are frustrated in getting looted ALL THE TIME. But like I said it comes at a price. And you may have to sail to it for a longer distance as there will only be one, tops two of them on the whole world map. So you could get run down by other ships as well. So risks would still abound. -
This is a PvP game and if people want to PvE they should be on a PvE server. With all the other people who just want to sail around and do treasure hunts.
The "camping" and "harassment" that everyone is QQing about was because the beta only had 16 players to a server. You wound up fighting the same people over and over whether you wanted to it not. Keep in mind this was a beta test. There will be more people to play against in the full game.
Having a lobby where people can hang out, get drunk, and maybe even be social and form a crew would be a nice addition. Making all the outposts safe zones would suck balls though.
If people want to pve, let them do it on a separate server, or they will just have to play a different game.
-
@casesugar401098 how do you know that there will be more people? From where you took that info?
Do you know Pros/cons of PVP/PVE server?
How it will work? Same pirate on both servers?
What if i have a PVE friend and i am PVP'er and we want to play together? -
@APOCACIDE this 420 stoner have no brain IMO. His arguments leads to "I am solo player, it is really hard to do something solo, change the game, give me uber big cannon to 1 shot galleon, cos im solo".

That is still the best solution to not negatively affect either group of players. They should make one server with a security level system like you have in EvE Online.

@f0ur20-4ever Playing solo can be rough sometimes. However if I am not looking for a fight and I need to turn stuff in. I always keep an eye on the horizon and loop around the outpost looking for a boat or a mermaid in the water. If you see either move on. If you are being chased by a Galleon make a tight turn around a rock letting the Galleon catch up. They will have to choose which way to turn to avoid the rock. Once you see which way that is turn opposite and get going. You can also jump off the sloop with the treasure letting the sloop sail on. Most likely the Galleon will continue to chase. Its a big world and there is always at least one empty outpost. Once the entire community has a little more experience on the sea. I dont think camping outposts will be a viable strategy. You could sit there for hours and never see anyone. As they realize you are there and move on.

Before hoping on to the conversation you should always read a bit to see what others have been saying and previously the same guy you just mentioned said and I quote this from him: "I've been playing games for awhile and trolls will eat this game up. Their will be a troll(s) at every Outpost. So after sailing around the map to all 6 Outpost that all were being watched by trollers and campers where do I go now to turn in my chest?? Why yes this is a game about pirates and the whole "let pirates be pirates" there has to be a way to control the trolling or else this game will drive many away and after many gamers realize that each time you want to go back to an outpost to turn in a quest/chests there will be a fight sometimes that fight isn't always wanted. Also you could just wait them out but if they see you sailing around the island they won't leave because they know you have to come to them so you move on to the next outpost and theres more campers and again and again at each island.
-
@therealcaptain3 I highly doubt every outpost was covered at all times. I'm not sure what the settings were for the beta and maybe they turned that "dial" a bit and increased player count to test. But the count of unique ships in a instance of the map, for almost the entirety of the last month or so of the alpha was one less ship than outposts. So that players just couldn't be at all of them. Now again they may have fiddled with that setting for testing purposes however I have never not been able to find a free outpost. Also if you just have to turn in right then get you a good angle on the gold hoarder tent angle your cannon and fire yourself directly at the guy chest in hand.
