@ugesparrow Why are you trying to sell the game to your friends for a day one purchase? They can just look up info within the release week and see what's in store for the game.

People realize you don't have to buy a game on day one, right? You don't even have to preorder a game because preordering literally means nothing if the game isn't going to be a sellout title on day one. Plus with the game also being digital, it literally cannot sellout.

@residentapple12 Actually, you havent even payed for the game yet, since they only charge on release, soo you literally got access to the beta and free cosmetics for nothing, and they announced the beta was limited content, they annonced that a full month ago, you are complaining about nothing

All beta is like that , ever played the destiny beta ? Monster hunter? they dont put the full game of course , it a beta , not the full game .

It's concerning that the "holding back content", in this case, seems to suggest a lack of overall content, creating the need to not blow a load before the game comes out.

Playd the beta for 1h... and im sick of it. Boooooring.

@cpt-lepigeon No it's not. Clearly I did pay for the game, but part of the reason for the purchase was to play early in the beta, and the lackluster features disappointed me a little. If that's the worst comment you've seen, you clearly haven't been looking hard enough.

I'd just like to say I've been beta testing MMO's and online games since Everquest. This is probably one of the strangest decisions I've seen in all my testing. An important part of beta testing is to not only test your server load, but to make sure your quest lines work and that the content you putting in to the game actually works and is balanced well. Stripping content out doesn't fulfill this need. Even outside of that the choice to lift the NDA was also a bad one as well, this is going to be the time that people on a larger scale see your game and you're now giving them less to look at. Hopefully they choose to introduce more in to the beta because I just spent 20 minutes luring skellys out of a cave simply because I had no other way of dealing with them...

@saltedscreech yeah, I understood that this was going to be lite on content. They made that clear so I was completely okay with that. But to make it this lite is kind of asking for trouble. If their goal was to show the world what SoT has to offer, they really should have thought about adding much more then what they did. I've already heard 3 different streamers say..."is this it? I can't do anything else with this gold?"

Agree! Lift the NDA with an Alpha with less content, to show that the 70€ are not worth the price is not the best strategy i think.

I think the major issue is that fact that there is going to be so many lackluster first impressions that this is going to cause. So many people will look at a streamer play this game, realize it is literally just treasure hunting(in its current build) and never look at the game again.

Don't get me wrong, I really really want to see this game succeed, but unless this beta receives an update halfway through, I don't think that this is going to win over anyone who isn't already invested.

To new players who are just having their first impressions now, they don't know about the other trading companies, they haven't even seen wildlife other than sharks in the game, to them it must seem pretty damn bare-bones.
To founders this is just a slightly more polished tech alpha with a decent amount of the gameplay removed,
and to pioneers I'm sure its one of their test builds with even less content removed.

I get that its a beta and I get that its still in development, but the major thing about it is that this is the first time recording/streaming has been allowed, currently on twitchtv Sea of Thieves has ~75,000 viewers. This is insane and I never thought it would get that high, but I also have to remember that their first impressions are coming from this restricted beta build instead of a trailer of things to come (which I'm sure plenty of them will never bother seeing).

The whole 'well if you don't like it then leave' argument is completely absurd too because all these people want is for the game to be better, people complaining are complaining with reason and only want to see improvement and success out of Sea of Thieves, you cant just block out critique because you don't agree with it, its still going to remain true either way.

Okay rant over, I hate complaining like this but I'm just feeling really disappointed with the beta and worried for the success of this game at launch.

@olakeen yet they never announced this would be available in the beta, they said it would be available in the full version, they said the beta would be more limited, yet you are unhappy because its limited, see how that doesnt make much sense?

@sirliborius I rather have a Beta with more issues than a release with more issues due to not testing. Lets all remember what Beta Builds are for.

Many people are biased because gaming developers aren't as trustworthy with their promises on games as they used to be.

And this "free content" what you're talking about is also false.
It's not like the game is free to play, the BETA is meant for feedback and fixes etc. not to have people play the game for free for no reason.

Sry but wake up folks. The game will launch barebones.
Maybe in 2019 it will have the content that justifies 60 Dollar.

@major-sousa My concern is that the game is progressing in a direction that will not make it successful for the future. I will not spend $60 on a game if its only going to give me a few short hours of enjoyment, and that enjoyment leaves me feeling unrewarded and empty. I play games for fun, and part of the fun is expanding my character and finding cool meaningful things that are rich and impactful to me as a character in this world. All of which is missing, and never been seen. Rare has said for years it'll be this way, but we've yet to see it in game.

I'm not here to complain. I'm just trying to sympathize with the people who are disappointed. I knew what the Beta was going to look like so this doesn't come as a surprise to me. All I'm saying is let the people be upset. Nothing you say will change their perception of the game. You and I both know how beautiful and fun it can be, and that's what matters!

The release is not in 1 year but 2 month !!! It's tomorrow and you cannot even choose your character !
