Idea: Ability to use cargo animals to "plug holes" in an emergency with no wood supplies
left.
Scenario: In the middle of a cargo haul you're attacked. You've put up a good fight but suddenly realize you and your crew are out of wood planks. Your ship full of precious cargo is soon to go down. In a frantic act of desperation someone grabs a pig and shoves it in a hole in the hull, buying your crew just a little more time to bail out and make it to port...
Concept/features:
*wouldn't be a perfect fit: Some manageable leaking will occur.
*Opportunities for hilarious sound effects/visuals (visible from ship interior/exterior)
*You lose that item of cargo once proper wood repairs can be applied (pig/chicken pop out the exterior and fly/swim away, maybe you can re-capture before they de-spawn?)
*Randomization of which way the animal is facing when used in this way.
Closing: I think this would play into some of the cheekier elements of SoT (ie drunk music playing, shooting yourself out of canons, etc..), and would add more hilarious moments to the game (seeing a pig or chicken bottom/head suddenly stick out of a hole on an enemy ship during combat) . It adds a little extra touch to the repair mechanic when the situation arises. The cost/benefit will still warrant searching for free lumber to make complete repairs as you will lose profits by utilizing cargo in this way, as well as the fact that you will still take on some water until properly repaired.
Cheers!
