Please.. no... no more... :PThere's quite a few players who just don't want Sea of Thieves to be Sea of Thieves. They want it to be like Sealayerbattlegrounds Unthieves or SeaWorld of Thiefcraft, or Overwatch of Thieves.

Sadly those games are all the rage nowadays... A shame really, that they don't see that what they have in front of them is already perfect just the way it is. Although I would like some things to be considered myself... :P

Dear Rare Employees who shouldn't be reading this because come on folks, take a holiday,
You have captured lightning in a bottle. Don't let anyone tell you different.
Sincerely,
ErikP.S. Please add magic bottles we can capture lightning in during storms. That would be epic. And let us load them in cannons. With chickens. And snakes. On a plane.

Got it. As soon as Rare comes back, I say a report for animal abuse should be filed. 😂

Btw this lightning in a bottle thing is a great proposal for the potion shop! If it can't be captured at least let me buy it.

@drbullhammer I can tell that is the perfect pug shot for a game about boats...
...it's covered with watermarks!

And Rare, while you're at it. Here's my christmas wish list.- Add front/back facing cannons on the Galleon/Sloop. I hate having to turn to shoot at people, so why not make it so that there's always an angle I can shoot at them from. Seems super fair and balanced.
- Add NPC ships (yeah I know you said you won't, but it's what I want and I clearly know best) because this unexplored Sea that is Sea of Thieves should clearly have much more ships on it. It needs to feel alive, like we're on a trade-route or something. Not a game where we're the pioneers and explorers of these seas, no. Sea of Thieves should take place in the golden age of pirating, clearly. So, I essentially want AC black flag where seeing a ship was totally meaningless but where there's a lot of them.
- Please also add some type of Vertical progression. I want to feel like a powerful pirate. Why? Well, blackbeard clearly had cannons that did slightly more damage than any other pirate on the seas. It's why he's such a famous pirate, duh.
- I'd also really like to see skill trees. You know, where you can get super cool abilities. Ofcourse, you'd have to level up and earn them. Barriers to entry aren't important, it's all about feeling like a powerful legendary pirate right? You said you wanted us to become pirate legends, so give us legendary abilities!
- Could you switch the sloop & galleon stats around? A super fast sloop with a super slow turn, and a slower galleon with a super high turning rate. That would be legit, and would surely solve all the balance problems that people have been worried about.
- Also, please add crosshairs. I know, I know. Sea of Thieves is all about immersion. But, c'mon. Crosshairs are essential to FPS games, and it's a shame SoT doesn't have them.
- Oh, Safezones. Definitely Safezones. Just like this ring around outposts, and if you sail through it. You're safe, nothing can happen to you.
- If you don't drink a tankard within 30 seconds of being in a tavern, you get shot in the face by the barmaid. Yarr.
- Also, people who camp outposts should automatically start burning if they're at an outpost for longer than 10 minutes. Camping and setting abushes is just not something pirates do.
- Please add ship customization, but not just ways to make your ship look cool. No, I want to be able to deck out my ship with 32 cannons. I know there's only 4 people max, but it would just be sooooo coool. I also want armor, but it shouldn't affect my speed. It should also make me go faster, because clearly I'd be lower in the water because of the weight. And going faster cause I'm lower in the water makes total sense.
- Speaking of Crew size, could you increase the limit? I think that 4 is too hard to man the galleon, and 2 is too hard to man the sloop. So, make it 4 on the sloop and 8-12 on the galleon. That way, there's always enough people to do what needs to be done. Also, please divide players according to the amount of players on their ship. I don't want to sail the seas only encountering sloops. If I'm in a galleon, the only other ships in the server should be galleon's of the same crew size. That's just logical.
Thanks for listening! I love the game, but honestly, I think all my suggestions would make this game INFINITELY better. Without these suggestions being implemented, surely this game will fail. Just like NMS did.
Sorry.. I couldn't resist...

Great! Now that they are safe zones I can spawn without being killed at the start...
Oh no! If I'm not careful during the first 30 seconds, the barmaid will shoot me in the face. Some always find complaints 😂.
-
@drbullhammer Well if you can't kill them by throwing snakes at them, then surely your secondary weapon should be staring them in the head doing a scoped 360 spyglass ?? Makes perfect sense !
-
@Erinom3 I think you perfectly summed up what needs to be done to fix this seriously pressing issues... The thought of my stolen treasure being stolen from me haunts my dreams as of late... These "safezones" could soooooo fix all my fears, knowing that it would effectively reduce the pirating in this pirate game ;)
OMG! This post has given me a brilliant idea...
Dear RARE, could you please give anyone who desires "safezones", the ability to indicate themselves in-game as desiring safe passage, oh! and whether or not they have treasure on board would be great! Oh! And their location on the map! You know, so that way we don't "accidentally" hunt them down and plunder their riches... I'm dieing right now. -
@drbullhammer
HahahahaIntroducing the spyglass; it serves two functions.
The first, to spot players and ships on the horizon. The second, to beat the living until they are no longer living.@J4dio
You are probably right, probably not the best idea ;P I can't wait for the weapon shop to be added, I need an automatic shotgun.@Thorhammer3
I just had to pour out some of my frustration with the recent surge of suggestions, a little bit of satire helped. I didn't mean to discredit the ideas, I just think some people take themselves and their ideas way too seriously. And they could stand to take a few steps back, and look at what their suggestion would do to the game. -
@j4dio if you hold them down and put the spyglass against their head and point it at the sun, you can burn a hole right through their head.

Sorry for hijacking your thread. :3
I ehh.. thought of creating a thread with these fresh "new" ideas. But it would probably rub many people the wrong way, and I don't want to start a riot because people don't understand it's just messing around on the friendly forums. I've made quite a few suggestions that were absolutely terrible, I think we all have. But, some people can make fun of their own ideas.. others can not. :P -

It's ok to mess around on the forums, and honestly it depends on whether the person reading is perceptive enough to get what you're trying to imply. I understood it was said in a joking manner, and wouldn't take your ideas as outrageous. Besides, even if you truly felt like those ideas should be in the game, there's no reason to put them down as long as you know how to be eloquent about them, and know how to defend your point should anyone disagree. I've seen these people that get enraged as soon as you even insinuate that you disagree with their thoughts, and I've seen it in these forums, but hey to each their own, and developers should also have their freedoms when it comes to making the game. They're not slaves to players.
My thoughts are that there are two extremes: the one in which developers ignore the thoughts of their audience completely, (cough EA cough) and the extreme in which the players control nearly anything that goes into the game, which is rarely the case (see what I did there?). Neither extreme should ever be reached. You want to be at the middle between the two: where player input matters but devs can also make their own decisions.
