Ahoy, Rare Devs and Pirates!

I would like to suggest adding new Smuggler Voyages focused on raiding Skeleton Forts to obtain specialized Smuggler Treasures, rather than relying solely on traditional smuggling trade routes.

Summary of the Idea

Currently, smuggler activities are focused on trade routes and stealthy deliveries. Adding high-risk, high-reward Fort Raids specifically designed for smugglers would make the gameplay much more dynamic and action-packed.

Key Details

New Voyage Type: A specialized Smuggler Fort Voyage obtainable from the Smuggler NPC / Hideout.

The Gameplay: Crews would sail to designated Forts, clear waves of enemies, and unlock a vault containing exclusive Smuggler Chests and Relics.

The Objective: Transport these high-value goods back to the Smuggler's Hideout while risking attacks from rival crews who can spot the treasure glow.

Why this improves the game: It offers an exciting alternative to standard delivery routes, encourages more emergent PvP encounters, and gives dedicated smugglers a combat-heavy option to level up their reputation.

What do you all think? Would you like to see combat-oriented Smuggler Fort Raids added to the seas?

Thanks for reading!

I don't know if you played at all during Season 17, but I lost count how many times I'd load into an Outpost, and there'd be Smuggler's loot absolutely littered all over the place, at Sovereign, on the docks, floating in the water, etc. as players couldn't be bothered to deliver it when they realized Sovereigns didn't want it either. Looking at all this free loot, we wanted nothing to do with it as well, and just left it there, free for the taking, but no thanks.

Sovereigns doesn't want it, Reapers doesn't want it, you have to go out of your way to sail to an island and run each item in one at a time selling by hand (this just reminded me of all the times we'd see stacks of kegs piled around the NPC as players didn't want to bring them on board), so I don't see what you mean by "encourages more emergent pvp encounters". Personally speaking, as someone who chooses the Reaper faction more often than not, and knowing Smuggler loot can't be sold at Reapers, it would be completely pointless and a waste of my supplies for me to sink any ship doing it (unless they have a flag I want, and if that's the case, I'm only taking the flag). I've sunk player ships in the past that have had Smugglers loot (and other treasure), and every item we harpooned anything associated with Smugglers, got tossed overboard. We just couldn't be bothered. You couldn't even give it away for free in Season 17.

I'm not sure how getting additional Smugglers Loot from a fort is an "exciting alternative" when the dotted line route is where the main point of it all-- emergent PvE threat-- takes place as you sail back and forth making deleveries. It seems as though the developers made this game mechanic, in case no one could be bothered sinking you. Having a fort giving Smugglers loot would bypass the PvE threat, making the basic mechanic associated with it, pointless.
