My only pushback - is that Mike Chapman said somewhere in an interview that "the Cap'n is a completely new and original character who we have not met yet, who we will meet “very soon”. This interview was with Captain Blubber and was supposed to be in this podcast episode https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjlL1YERHUQ&t=647s but for some reason I can no longer find the clip where he says it, and I'm wondering if they edited it out? Or did someone make that quote up, I'm not too sure? If someone could help me understand this I would be most grateful :)

Not much proof.
Its a IP thing, and doubt they will use him. But he maybe imspired to be close, since the only proof is he appears to be a smoker, could have a hook (or skeleton claw) and is just known as "Cap'n"

The POTC and Monkey Island stuff is set up to be able to be cut from the game completely without much of an issue if the license expires and/or is not renewed.

It could be that he has some aspects to Hook but lets face it, Most pirates can sound like Hook ;)

I do however hope for Captain Hook to make an appearance one day with further Tall Tales crossing over!
