Seems to me this is a platform issue and not really a Sea of Thieves one.

I agree, they shouldn't be showing preferential treatment to anyone based on platform but there are maybe deals being made that can't be made with PlayStation which allows Sea Of Thieves to be free to play for a time on Xbox sadly.
