This easter egg helped me to finally get one of my pvp crews to do fishing with me.
Staying still and fishing - the most challenging task they've ever done in Sea of Thieves.
Worth more than chests of fortune.

@pc-monkfish we do get another cake hunt for the anniversary. They announced that already. Along with the festival of fishing with the recipe voyage

Yeah honestly stuff like this is great for the game. The random out-of-nowhere events are some of the most fun moments in Sea of Thieves because nobody’s expecting it and the whole server just kind of figures it out together.

The Cake Hunt last year was a perfect example. Totally goofy, came out of nowhere, and suddenly everyone’s sailing around doing something different for a bit.

Not everything has to be some huge announced feature. Little surprises like that keep the world feeling alive. I’d definitely love to see more of it, especially around the Anniversary.

That's unfortunate. Love the concept, but I dislike having to rely on out of game sources.

My only gripe with this one is more so that the overwhelming majority of players (myself included) are using the IYKYK cheese/exploit spot to do it. Rare knew without a doubt in their mind that it would go that way and effectively are promoting it because their own partners (including the biggest one) have done it on stream for hours.

Don't promote cheese/exploits, Rare. It only exposes people to more cheese/exploits in your game and gives players the cozy feeling that it's not only OK, but is something that everyone should be doing because Rare is either incapable of fixing things, or doesn't care, and that there will never be any punishments.

That's a bad precedent to set.

True True, Took me 5 hours.
2 sessions of 2 hours and then hit it on the third session.

I play while listening to podcasts anyway and the PvE spawning fighting each other gave a mild distraction round about.

Nah. Don't like that's it's complete RNG. You might get it in 1 min or, like me, it may take you literally 8 hours. If you have a full crew, you have a better chance than a solo, so it's not balanced.

I like other stuff they're doing that isn't telegraphed but requires some investigation, like "the client". I'd enjoy mysteries like that.

I was able to get quite lucky at hidden spring. Only took 20 mins or so. I tried the shores of gold thing, with no success. Not even an ashen key or plank of wood. I had much better luck a while ago when I was finishing off legendary hunter.

Yeah, little easter egg cosmetics are fun.

I'd like them to be more thematic though, I got to max level arena for the good boy ship set. And then I afked shores of gold with a fishing rod for 90 mins for the weapons.
