these new fruit seem useless from a pve perspective.... it would be nice if the raw form would just teleport you back to your ship. so cooked merfruit has pvp functionality and raw just saves you the time from having to unalive yourself or memorize guarantee black screen locations or waiting for a mermaid to spawn in the water.

They are common and I never supply so they come in handy when I'm running around and need a heal.

A lot of players supply, so their experience will be different, but I like them as someone that is a piratical minimalist.
