Now, I not only couldn't gain distance as I even got caught.
Anyone can explain to me what are the new rules for smaller ships to outrun bigger ones or if it's even possible?
Also, I noticed that most of the time when I was running against the wind and blowing the fair wind horns it didn't feel like I was going full speed.

I just wanted to dive to my next hourglass match but recently I have been seeing bringatines just chasing reaper sloops for no reason.

Still can, you just can't leave your sails straight, got to turn them to 'catch some wind' or allow wind to pass through.

Rule of thumb now is if your sails are against the wind in any direction, you’re going to have a bad time. Keep your sails turned into the wind as much as you can, even if it’s against, turn them completely left or right. Sailing “dummy sails” actually makes you slower now on all ships so avoid!
